how come Yea Forums never told me how good this was? I was hooked instantly and watched everything in one marathon session
The only thing that I have critique for the is ending episodes, the part where they pretend to be unconiouss and then this punching battle felt needlessly and just as a way to force in some combat, and that part with the bullet also sort of felt dumb because why would they risk it?
Other than that it was great, storywise and everything. Those sounds and the artstyle feel so for lack of a better word comfy, it has a 90s feeling even though its way older than that Wish theyd return to that sometime
>how come Yea Forums never told me how good this was? What are you, new? It was HUGE about 10 years ago, and we have a fuckton of threads in June.
Anyways, yeah a lot of people didn't like Matsuribayashi's ending, Miotsukoshi is much better. The anime left out a LOT, read the VN or at least the manga.

Good show. in the last couple of cycles I was rooting for the main cast pretty hard. watched it I think 10 years ago or maybe a little less.

The manga is alright. The physical US release combined two to three volumes at a time, so each volume is THICK, which makes it annoying to read for the first 50 pages.
Since you only mention season 1 and 2 I'm going to assume you don't know about the OVAs Nekogoroshi aired between season 1 and 2, I don't remember anyting important happening but that's where the screenshot you posted came from. Rei, or season 3, is pretty good. Episodes 1 and 5 are fanservice fun episodes, 2 through 4 are the arc Saikoroshi, which is pretty good and explains some of the time loop stuff. Kira is entirely fanservice, if you liked the fun moments then you'll like Kira. Watch it anyways, because it's not as bad as.. Outbreak, the final OVA. It's absolute junk. It's so bad that people call Kira the worst arc since their brains repressed all memories of Outbreak.
currently watching the OVAs, apparently I watched things out of order but its okay it still made sense That sucks though, but nothing can take away the joy I already had from a good 90% of what Ive seen
>read the VN VN is very bloated with fucked up pacing. R07 is a shitty writer. Deen adaptation did miss some crucial points but I will never prescribe VN over anime at all.

I have to leave but I assume we'll have plenty of Higurashi threads this month
anyone have a good screen of Satoko pantsu shot from the first episodes of s2?

thank you for this post. there's almost fucking NOBODY on these boards who appreciate umineko like i did.
Not a bad idea. I suppose they're going to notice a big white guy taking pictures of everything. Come home to /jp/, we have a regular 07th expansion general and it's 90% Umineko.

I'd wear her uniform I felt bad for her, in onikakushi she was only trying to help. Even when K1 killed mion she still tried to help him. It's explained in the tokihogushi VN that she attacked the guys with a bat at her previous school because they tried to rape her, which caused her to go crazy.
you are supposed to read the VN and it's not Yea Forums's fault you're a newfag >did you like it when they cried? I cried when they cried. I also cried whenever they didn't. actually, i just cry all the time
Went there this year. That statue's gone. It was for an event. Au au au.. The people there were based though. This old dude told me the entire village bands together to protect and preserve the village, and they are all super close. Right next to the village is a small town with modernism buildings. I can post pics if interested.
There is a reason I shit on Umineko: I hate it. The game is the opposite of any reasonable aesthetic system and art work. It preaches a narrowing of the mind and becomes utter propaganda at the end. I don't care if people like this game and found something meaningful in this garbage. I have nothing against their fans, only the work in question. I have considered why they like the work and heavily disagree with them. If you like Umineko, you are probably going to be offended by my rant and I can't do anything about it. This isn't a hot take nor am I going to sugarcoat my hatred of it. I am sorry for being unable to move on, even trapped into thinking about how awful the work is. Every time I read some new work, I think how it compares to the awfulness of Umineko. It is my personal nadir of fiction. I'll tell you the works I consume take a nuanced look at escapism and also at some points become more real than reality itself. I have never been interested in escapism. I don't doubt people look into fiction for escapism, but I am not that one of those people. Umineko could be something like Last Resort if the writer wished so; however, while Last Resort uses escapism to challenge nihilism, Umineko uses it to beat down any criticism and challenges it faces. It cops out in looking at the issues it brings up Yasu's gender and sexuality for example- by bringing into magic and love. This is the type of work that is antithetical of art. I don't mind being a hypocrite fucking asshole if this is the sole exception that pissed me off. Humans are all hypocrite fucking assholes and no one can be trusted to not break any of their personal rules. In my case, Umineko is a piece of shit that deserves all the scorn of the world
Vantage point. Also, I had friends who booked a stay in one of the gassho house, they said it was extremely creepy at night that they GTFO on the same day and stay at a hotel instead. What a waste of money.
Sorry I'm really new to Yea Forums (half a year ish). I should've just searched how to spoiler text.
The 3rd arc concerning Satoko had a TIPS section detailing child abuse statistics. x% are beaten, y% are mentally traumatized, etc... until at the very very end SUDDENLY it says and zz% of the child abuse cases are sexual abuse and the music suddenly shrieks at you I'll never forget it. I was ready to fucking kill Satoko's uncle along with Keiichi./spoiler]
And that's (one of the many reasons) why the VN is superior. Pics incoming btw
Cuz newfags infest the board and they dont watch anything made before SAO's release date.

>I'm still working through the VNs which aren't even completely translated. Officially no, but the fan translation has been out for years. Fans translated the additional vn that were on the ds, ps2, ps3, and so on. Bookmark this thread in the archive and check it out when you're done.
Here's my photo blog. A few details: 1. By some stroke of luck it was a festival day. The Spring Festival, where a bunch of Shinto cermonies were carried out. Pic related in gallery. 2. There was a convenience store "Daily Yamazaki" where I was told a staff member there was a huge Higurashi fan. But by the time I heard that I was already on the way back and the buses stop at 5 pm so regrettably I didn't get to fanboy with that guy. (pretty much seething on the way back)
think that's about it, enjoy. oh and don't open using data.
What makes episode 8 of Umineko so bad? I read up to 7 and just stopped since it was when 8 had just been translated and the shitstorm deterred me from reading on at the time. I thought it was pretty decent from what I read although episode 6 was defintely the weakest I'd read of it.
Isaiah Sanchez
Tomitake was the villain of the show, there, I spoiled the truth. Now you can participate without problems. Don't get mad, I mean come on... A photographer? Don't you find those shiny glasses a little bit suspicious?
Whoever answers this please spoiler it. I just started episode 8 and don't want to be spoiled but this thread so far is so wholesome I don't want to leave. t. thanku
To be fair, he was the auditor in charge of overseeing the operation, and when he decided that they'd shut down in 5 years is when Takano really went nuts
Dog (poodle?) I found in the streets of Shirakawa-go. Found it pretty interesting the sense of normalcy of the people's lives in the town. They've got internet, vending machines in the streets like the rest of Japan, and dogs everywhere as pets. And yet there are shrine maidens and all the roofs are straw. That summed up in a picture is pretty much what you posted.
>silky smooth hau hauu >How times have changed Have the times changed? I haven't found much yaoi for Higurashi, but I mostly look for translated doujins
You have no idea how hard it is to get my friends into this anime (and have them take it seriously because it's mostly edgy and gore for 20 episodes), let alone the VNs. I'm glad we're all here :)
They had to promote the show for the teenage audience somehow, I guess.
Aiden Cruz
You have no idea how fucking insane I felt then. Call me a fag but I've never felt such rage in my entire life. Until after when Keiichi goes to the bathtub and hears the counting up of the numbers.
The anime had me like "oh fuck what's going on."
The VN had me like "FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU!!!! I'M GONNA FUCKING MURDER YOU!!! I'LL FUCKING TEAR YOUR LIMBS APART". Except it was much more than just that. I felt the exact same emotions as Keiichi if not more.
Maybe that's cringe but it's true. And it makes you completely empathize with Keiichi so he doesn't seem like a retarded kid who's gone cuckoo but rather someone whose actions you might actually realistically take on. 10/10
Except for the lolicon, these threads are always adorable to read. It's like watching grandpas talking about their older days while trying to sound cool, but in a good way.
Chapter 3 was absolutely kino in the VN and it doesn't really carry over in the anime. Keiichi's internal monologues made it. "It'll only take me 1500 seconds.".
Oh yeah, are there actually lots of Higu posts in June? I'm so excited.
Btw, this isn't to start an argument (since this is such a chill thread). But what makes me prefer Higu over Umi (not done ch. 8 yet tho) is that Higurashi feels so down-to-earth and real. (VN). You completely immerse yourself in the culturally and historically rich village's day-to-day, and feel at one with the characters at times.
Umineko is more of an intellectual meta-gem of the detective fiction genre (ok that sounds really gay but allow it), but emotionally speaking it couldn't get to me as much.
Eh. I think most of what I said was true objectively speaking. Umineko can be considered a masterpiece in other regards but in terms of setting, grittiness and character there is no doubt that Higurashi wins. After all, at the very least we get to spend a lot of time in one place and with a few lead characters in Higu as opposed to suddenly galaxy braining more and more in Umi.
I like Umineko, and in fact it's most probably far more clever than Higurashi. But I prefer Higu as a story, that's all.
I was just saying, believe me, I have seen some shit and most of them really have a bad temper. When I used to go to /jp/ some people there thought of Ryu like some kid of Jesus and Umi his perfect creation, a paradise. Funny times.
Luke Turner
No you're a based man and I want to take you home.
desu I'm kinda worried about Ciconia. I hope it'll be more grounded like Higu but from that interview it seems like it'll be next-level Umineko.
> I like to think of it like Evangelion, since there's a lot of mysteries you don’t necessarily solve. You can enjoy the story or the mystery. > these “main characters” are nothing but pawns > Who are the real players in these games Tbh I'm not the hugest fan of the meta-narrative type of Ryukishi story but we'll see how it goes. And of course people are worried about it being a battle royale but we'll see.
>Actually? Oh fuck Yes, but don't worry. Since it's part of the thread topic maybe the mods won't care. Remember that you have like five minutes or so to delete a post you think might be troublesome for you.
Zachary Lee
is it summer already or is there an influx of people demanding serious discussion of things that aired 8+ years ago

I'm getting tired and I've got work tomorrow so I'm gonna post a few more images and head out. See you guys next thread
> Recommending the anime when the VN exists. And recommending Higurashi for "muh creepy anime jumpscares" and "muh angery horror faces". Absolutely unbased and filthy and disgusting.
It pretty much tries to actively avoid depicting anything truth-related at all even though the cat was already out of the bag in EP7, making it feel like a huge exercise in unnecessary obnoxious coyness.
Also, the message it tries so hard to force is downright wrong to the point the supposed "bad end" still comes off as better than the bittersweet with emphasis on bitter good end. On top of giving away her inheritance to the villains and giving up on her goal, Ange gets fucking cancer. What the fuck, Ryukishi? Killing a traitor and becoming a rich detective is not worse than that.
The manga adaptation of EP8 fixes a lot of the things that the VN did wrong, though, adding extra parts that resolve the story truthfully.

It's unethical to have a relationship with someone in a time loop if you're aware of it and they're not: discuss.
There was a point beyond Ryu07's sadboner for his childhood tranny friend and his hatred for his readers?
Michael Scott
You can't really blame her, being trapped in a hopeless situation like that might break anyone. The most rational thing to do is to take refuge in your loved ones to ease the pain and feel more safe.

Oh shit the threads still alive? Awesome. Btw did you know at the Miboro dam IRL, which is super close to Shirakawago go, there were actually dam protests but in the end the entire village was flooded? Fucking insane. I love Higu.

Are you saying there is a way to attain happiness for anyone that is objectively best? If someone truly believes they are happy then who can tell them otherwise?
That's just plain ignorance, to settle for too little cause you didn't know or didn't think you can reach for more while hoping reality don't tell you are dumb. More or less like a little bird born inside a cage that just learned to fly and feels happy cause they feels free, but not really, they just don't know or are scared to go outside, or too scared to get laid in your case.
Blake Hernandez
Just like many other anons, I wish I could experience the wtc series for the first time again. It's not like I haven't read/played/watched other great works in the past decade it's just that none were as fun.
It was a NEGOTIATION TACTIC. You see, Battler wanted the dominant position in their relationship. You need to always choose an absurdly high "starting price" for negotiations, or else you'll be swept away.
