>Pixel sprite artist and indie game developer Skipmore wrote a blog post on May 24 calling out plagiarism of their work in Chiyo's Homeroom manga, which is serialized on Kodansha's online manga site Comic Days. They posted comparison pictures of their own designs with the manga, as shown below
>Skipmore claimed that the sprite art depicted in the manga were lifted from their game Michibike Dungeon, which they first released in 2008. They claimed to have contacted Comic Days via Twitter direct message about the issue on May 21, and were told by the manga's editor that the art would be changed. Skipmore noted that although they received an apology from the editor, no public apology was issued on the site
>Homeroom first began serialization on Comic Days in March 2018. The "psycho love" manga tells the story of a girl who has been the victim of mysterious pranks, and who falls in love with her seemingly gentle teacher, who has secrets of his own
>Skipmore is an indie game developer specializing in retro game design. They handle the concept, direction, art, script, and game and level designs in all of their games. Some of the titles they have worked on include Fairune, Kamiko, Transiruby, Picontier, 1-Bit Rogue, and Drancia
Almost all artists trace in current year. You load the image on your tablet, make it a certain opacity so you can see what you're doing, and then draw the same pose with your character. It takes literally no talent and no time to do. I make shitty comics porn for a living and I can't even draw a straight line without tracing. Originality is overrated,
Evan Kelly
Do you trace hentai manga or pics from porn videos? Give me the details, user.
Evan Price
You should really try copying by using the image for reference, tracing is ok when you're clueless but developing muscle memory of poses is faster in the long run.

>ANN
Cameron Butler
Kodansha's quality control has gone to the dogs
Ryan Smith
>ann >irrelevant shit no one cares about Did I stumble onto Yea Forums on accident again?
Eli Lee
>Used on 3 occassions
That's a triple strike there.
Angel Morris
I don't why artists risk getting into trouble by doing this when they can trace 3D models instead.
>some game from 11 years ago gets referenced >plagiarism You don't see Square and Nintendo go after all those manga that use their designs.
Adrian Carter
That's terrible.
David Sullivan
Those with a lot of power do not care about trivial matters. It's always the little man with his little power who makes a big deal out of everything.
Jaxon Perez
Nobody really cares, its just ANN doing clickbait with a user doing clickbait of the clickbait.
Jeremiah Turner
>search Michibike Dungeon >first result is this article
Must have been quite a hit
Levi Scott
Then do a search in japanese, faggot. Imagine being a defender of plagiarism this much.
Blake Fisher
That only works if your characters aren't stylized, and 99% of manga have characters with unrealistic proportions that you can't replicate easily with a 3D model
Angel Ward
3D models can be modified to unrealistic proportions.
