Kawada's pronunciations weren't great, but her lyrics were a little more graceful. ROAR was the first Index OP written by someone other than Kawada, and there's a massive difference.

Coupled with a plot that moves in a snail's pace, characters barely fucking developing while 10 fucking new characters are introduced every volume, a shitty and rushed anime, then you have a recipe for disaster.

Apparently the anime actually did inject some new readers for the LN, but it's such in a terminal decline already I doubt it will help. tldr: DED

It's doubtful. Measure Heart seemed too professional to get emotionally involved with members of the team, especially with someone as unstable as Kakine. Given what she knew of Aleister's plan, she probably also knew that Kakine wouldn't be able to win. She explicitly knew that Accelerator and Touma were "irregular factors" and that they were "within the allowable limit of irregularity". This implies that while the actions those two took, regardless of whether Aleister predicted them or not, were allowed within the scope of his plans, Kakine's irregular actions were likely not. If this is the case, then Kakine's little rebellion was something Aleister expected, and that also would lead one to believe that Kakine's loss was also expected. If Measure Heart was aware of all this, then that would imply that she supported Kakine's actions while fully understanding that he would fail.

Were they emotionally involved? Probably not. They'd probably know better than that.

I feel like it could go either way. When MH was explaining her part time job, and the way Kakine asked about it and then played off like he didnt care as he didnt even finish listening to most of it, it seemed like even if they weren't involved, they were thinking about it.

It's pointless anyway. Measure Heart hasn't appeared since OT19. She's just another cog of the city's darkness.

I mean, do you really expect another Level 5 to show up at this stage? None of what's going on in the novels right now have anything to do with him. NT22R might be the only remaining chance for a Touma-free Index again, but I don't really see Kakine showing up there.

Thing is, though, that Kakine's purpose up to now was to serve as a series of failures which Accelerator is able to consistently improve upon. Accelerator always ends up one-upping one of his previous achievements/failures. Accelerator achieving holism is merely just another example of that. And even if he did achieve something, he'd still be stuck to the Sephirah or Qliphoth, since the Will of the Misaka Network sure as hell isn't giving him power.

That title fits with only few people. Kakine challenges god both literally and figuratively by having a personal reality that creates life and having the audacity to physical consume one (Othinus).

I can think of maybe Birdway as someone who could also fit that.

The one time Mikoto needed it in NT22 and Misaki ran off to flush IB down the toilet. You might have noticed she didn't co-pilot the AAA at all during NT22 so isn't even really necessary for that. She is really only good for the LPR and that move hasn't really done anything since NT18. I'mo not sure what Kamachi is planning with her anymore.

I'd argue as a final test for Accelerators character, Willl would give Kakine some power and see whether Accel "saves" him or merely kill him out of rage like everytime. Kamachi might not make Accelerator a hero to that extent but it's still an option. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Kakine fucks with logic by making a fourth factor to get him into SYSTEM.

I wouldn't say that Kakine fucked up in NT6. He was very close to realizing his plans, but there was two miscalculations. Takitsubo, and the good that existed within him.
The way Kakine is being set up as a parallel of Accelerator and with what Accelerator has recently achieved, there is a possibility that Kakine will undergo an evolution that rivals that. Couple that with a little bits of Ra Hoor lore, Lucifer lore and symbolism of white wings with his current circumstances, and we might be getting a very scary, very powerful and a VERY, VERY pissed off esper as an antagonist.

There's also the question that NT6 raised on whether the Kakine we watched was the original or not. We see another one later, who acts like his usual asshole self, but is that the same one reborn or was he doing something else during that time? It's a bit up in the air.

But here's the thing, though: That describes a very large number of characters. Fiamma of the Right is still alive and well, but Kamachi hasn't done shit with him. Kakine's not really special. I mean, hell, Orsola follows that very same description, a character who's been around but never really mattered suddenly being the main boss of a novel.

And it's extremely unlikely that NT22R is gonna be about Kakine. And I also honestly can't see Kamachi, given his past stories, take the narrative away from Touma for an entire story arc.

At that point, you're really just making up story arcs that haven't happened yet. Not much to discuss there.

Funny thing is that you do kind of have a point, in that Kakine has been set up in such a manner. But the issue is that you seem to have failed to understand just how he's been utilized. If you look at what Kakine is in NT6, he's almost his own tree. A flawed, not-quite-there tree, but he's vaguely something along those lines. Except unlike the Will of the Misaka Network, whose position on her throne has never been challenged, Kakine's position was usurped by Beetle 05. But this really just falls into the pattern: Kakine achieves something, an almost half-measure, and then Accelerator goes on to completely surpass him with half the effort. The picture that's been painted is that Kakine can never really beat Accelerator. Whatever Kakine achieves is always a half-step that Accelerator inevitably surpasses him on.

He hasn't don't anything nearly to the level of what you think's going to happen with Kakine. And Kakine has never been a mover or a shaker. He's more of a "attempts to accomplish something but ultimately fails to break the status quo" character. I'll admit that Kakine tries harder than any other character to change things. His actions, if they succeed, could potentially bring about vast changes. Nothing would ever be the same again. But he fails. He fails every single time. None of his plans ever go the way he wants them to. That's his curse. The status quo has been challenged time and time again. There have been characters who have managed to fundamentally change the direction that the world of Index has gone in. And none of those characters are Kakine. He tries, he screams, he keeps ramming at the wall face-first over and over, but he never accomplishes anything. That's his curse.

It's bit of a strech since the OG was also an asshole but that would be a crazy twist if it was. The general consensus is that

NT6 = Bad surface persona
NT8 = The original

You kinda have to understand that references to Thelema are made CONSTANTLY in this series, but not all of it always leads anywhere. If anything, more often than not, Thelema is kinda treated as sort of a red herring at times.

It's not the OG for sure. The Kakine that was in NT6 was most likely the original but after splintering off so much of his consciousness he lost parts of his personality that made him who he was, becoming an egotistical, philosophical and grandueristic version of who he was. Kakine is essentially splintered. Kakine is not whole anymore, the core parts of his personality are mere caricatures and exaggerated parts of him. This is what makes Kakine so incredibly dangerous, these fragments are every bit as powerful as he himself was. He himself has compared these splits in consciousness as splitting a cookie. Even if its split, its still a cookie with every bit of its taste, which means they are still essentially Kakine. This is where it starts to get a little weird. The good Kookine, Beetle, wants to form bonds and change itself from the Kookine it used to be, the bad Kookine is most likely gathering knowledge or preparing/planning for something else. They are two distinct beings now, two whole Kookine's that have become different. What would happen if they were to remerge?
That is an interesting theory. It would be a bit of a stretch seeing as how the original willingly split his own consciousness though. Let me propose a new theory. That was a new being formed from Kakine's subconscious, his will. Essentially, the Will of the Kakine Network. This being willingly aided Beetle cause he knows the true wish of the being called Kakine Teitoku.

As far as I'm concerned, the lot of you who keep bringing up that Thelema reference to mean that there's gonna be a grand story arc where Kakine's gonna be the next Fiamma, Othinus or Coronzon is a loony conspiracy theorist.

Touma doesn't have many parallels, I don't know where you got that from. Only Kamisato and few others like Fiamma make the cut, simply emapthizing with a villain doesn't make them a parallel.

Honestly I never cared about Kakine that much, he was just treated like a tryhard in every appearance but Kakinefags have made many interesting analyses on his beliefs and potential that I had to reread his books to know why all of these autists worship such character.

Pretty sure they laid out all the details for that in Volume 3.

In NT Kakine was; hinted at in NT4 when Byouri used DM and got overtaken, Kagun talked about the will of the material waking up, and then in the very next volumes he wakes up and goes on a rampage. Then in NT7 we see Beetle, in NT8 Kakine is used to make the lance and a Holistic Esper, in NT10 Sargasso gets bombed and presumably frees him, NT14 had more DM being used from the Arctic, and then combined with Germaine's virus by Yuitsu in NT17 to handle WR. This isn't really the sort of prominence you expect from a character that is going to be dropped and never seen again like Izzard.

Next he'll say that Kamachi's plots are predictable despite never being right on his predictions

-He's one of the earliest characters that trashed the Hero/Villain notion while the two MCs needed several arcs to do so

-The NT8 speech timing was interesting considering the shift in Aeons with the main villain and the fact that Kakine was clueless to any of the macro or micro changes that magic initiated.

The rest are really just personal interpretations and stretch theories that I enjoy and think are solid like the whole Ra hoor Khuit stuff(this one is a meme but Beetle sacrfices is apparently a thing) and what his personal reality may say about his past tragedies that Accel mentioned in OT15.

I don't think SYSTEM will ever be achieved because SYSTEM would result in the destruction of the character. Accelerator definitely won't achieve it because if he does, he'll be a God and God can't be a main character.

I don't agree because that is kinda where Accelerator's character has been heading. He will either reach SYSTEM or he will become a different God that lies between Science and Magic. Accel has slowly been getting more powerful as the story progresses as well. It's likely though that when he does reach SYSTEM or become a Science/Magic God, it probably won't be until near the end of the series.

Touma was still held back by what he thought was "fair" hence he initially agreed to allow the new phase Othinus created. We clearly learn that it wasn't until he talked to Will and got closer to Othinus that he let all of his selfishness to surface and that was a huge theme for the book, Kamachi even says it in the end comments.

But even if we count Touma as the first, that's still the main character so I don't doubt that Kamachi chose that philosophy for him when he created Aleister. Still cool that Kakine also embodies it but in a "evil" way

Why are you bringing Fiamma into this?

If you turn a character into a god, at that point you'd kinda need to remove that character from the narrative or end the narrative altogether. A hypothetical Science God Accelerator would destroy the narrative due to the sheer scope of his power. That kind of power might be acceptable for an antagonist, as shown by the likes of Fiamma or Othinus, but not as a main character since it would severely limit the scope of the conflicts that character would be allowed to take part in. Both Fiamma and Othinus had to be nerfed after their respective defeats. In the case of Fiamma, his Holy Right was rendered less stable and he was largely removed form the narrative for the most part. In the case of Othinus, she was turned into a powerless fairy.

Gods probably can't be allowed to reside in the world. Even the Magic Gods hid themselves away from the world out of fear that they might inadvertently alter it. A tragic end where Accelerator is torn away from the family he worked so hard to build right at the end doesn't sound like something Kamachi would do. To become a god is to walk away from humanity, and Accelerator is trying to embrace his humanity. He's already rejected the Level 6 Shift and he's lost all interested in ranks and levels. You might think that achieving SYSTEM is the natural evolution of his character, but I think it would go against the spirit of his character. Accelerator doesn't want SYSTEM. If faced with it, he'd reject it outright.

He's similar to Aleister in that sense. Someone who values his humanity and rejects the gods.

That doesn't work, I think. The Dark Matter Network is different from the Misaka Network, in fact I'd argue that it's really the total opposite. The Misaka Network is a network comprised of twenty thousand individuals, each with their own will and interest. The lives, deaths and accumulated experiences of those twenty-thousand individuals created a single unified consciousness from which they're derived. So basically, 10,000 Misakas = Will of the Network.

Kakine already started out as a single individual with a single consciousness. A single Personal Reality. He's human, so this is natural. When he created the Dark Matter network, he spread his consciousness out into different terminals, so one could say that it's really the complete opposite of how the Misaka Network was formed. The Will of Kakine already existed from the beginning, that's not special. On the other hand, I'm not really sure if the reverse could happen, where every single element of Kakine could develop its own will. Unlike the Misaka Network, which is limited to a finite number of actual terminals, there's theoretically no limit to the number of Dark Matter constructs. There can be as many as a hundred or as few as one.

When Beetle gained its own will, I interpreted it as less the formation of a new personality, but rather the revitalization of an existing, yet dormant value. A formerly dormant and stagnant value brought to the forefront. He's still Kakine. No matter what, he will always be nothing more or less than that. All his knowledge and memories are derived from Kakine, as is his personality. Unlike the Misakas, he can't be described as many wills that comprise a single unit, but rather a single will scattered across a large system. When Beetle usurped the throne, he became the "Will of the Kakine Network", but that doesn't really mean the same thing for him as it does for the Misakas.

Accel has no qualms about becoming more powerful as seen in NT 22 when he promised that he would learn and grow stronger and therefore would also grow in power. There's a reason Kamachi has gone down this route and has given Accel another power up.

Growing a new set of wings isn't the same as sacrificing your humanity. Fundamentally, what Accelerator's doing hasn't really changed. His understanding has grown, that's all. Of course, understanding is a huge part of his power, but giving up his humanity to become a god, only to be separated from Last Order, Yomikawa, Yoshikawa and Qliphah Puzzle 545 forever would not be a fun scenario for him. What Accelerator wanted was the power to defeat his enemies and protect the people he cares about.

Now, will there be a crisis that absolutely requires for Accelerator to become a god? I dunno. I don't think so. Isn't that what Touma's for? To solve the crisis that no one else can by punching the shit out of it? If Touma wants to achieve a "perfect happy ending", then he can't allow Accelerator to make that sacrifice.

Who says he has to give up his humanity though? Accel isn't going to become a Magic God who hides in fear because he's scared of his own power. He sort of already went through that before he was shot in the head. Also it's likely him reaching godhood won't be by choice but rather it just happens.

I don't really think one person can create a tree. 'Cause no matter how much Kakine splits himself up, he's still one person. The many Kakines are all just different parts of one person. The Misakas are all individuals. Their combined will creates the Will of the Misaka Network, but they're still many people.

Maybe he could make some sort of "false" tree, like an imitation tree, but it wouldn't be the same. Plus I'm not really sure if becoming a tree would benefit him at all. The Will of the Misaka Network can't interact the world without a terminal or medium, any more than the Sefirot or Qliphoth can. If Kakine did become a tree, I suppose he could grant power to those connected to him, but only if they can actually connect to him. Even then, he probably wouldn't want to play such a role in the first place considering how self-centered he is. He wants the power to achieve his own goals, not give someone else power.

Magic Gods can't really stop from changing the world. They didn't deliberately create World Rejecter, it was something that "leaked out". That's just how powerful they are. They're so powerful that they affect the world without meaning to. That's why they sealed themselves away for so long. Their fears aren't irrational, they're completely justified.

It's the same principle as AIM. An Involuntary Movement. There are things that Accelerator wouldn't be able to completely control as it comes with the territory. If he wants to keep from subconsciously altering the world, he'd have to seal himself away just as the Magic Gods did.

That's what you think.

All of what you said is true and is what we accepted.. There are two things are currently unexplained clearly tho:

1- What is the existence that talked with Beetle when he decided that he was Kakine? You could say that it was a personification of Takitsubo's influence but it held the a different personality than both Beetle and the NT6 persona.

2- Beetle (despite being the current owner of the network and the most dominate unit) is afraid that a malicious personality may take his place which is why he doesn't clone spam as much. This fear implies that there's a verifiable way to become owner of the network and that method may be through talking to the same figure that inspired Beetle to become Kakine.

See if Beetle's will is now the new and only will of Kakine, then there's no point in being afraid of being overridden.The idea is that OT15 Kakine wasn't the same as NT6, and knowing something like this would happen, Kakine/Dark Matter constructed a reference point for what "Kakine" would be and this is supported by the existence of the nameless figure in the network, Dark Matter having its own ego that aligns itself with "Kakine", and the fact that clones can top a dominate one with the right set of circumstances (cause if Takitsubo was the only way, then Beetle shouldn't be afraid).

I'm not the user that posted it but I think it's very possible. The networks don't have to be similar for an abstract will to exist that decides what would the original do (which in Beetle's case is to follow his ambition rather mindless killing which the original wouldn't do)

I mean, the difference between Kakine and the Misakas is that there is technically only one Kakine. Different parts of his self are scattered to create the many Dark Matter constructs, but they're all still Kakine.

Think about the Level Upper, which is based off the Radio Noise project. By connecting many different espers together, you can use the combined processing power to greatly amplify your own processing power, meaning a Level 2 could conceivably become a Level 4. This is what a network of many different individuals, of many brains, can do. But Kakine, no matter how many times he splits himself up, is still just Kakine. Even if he split himself off into ten thousand constructs, he most likely wouldn't achieve Level 6 or 5.2 or whatever. He'd not a great many brains connected to a single network, but a single brain split off into a great many bodies.

In fact, from what I can tell, all he did was move his consciousness into Dark Matter, thus removing his limitations of the flesh. He hasn't actually tremendously enhanced his power beyond that, unlike Mikoto, whose artificial shift to Level 5.2 gave her a massive output, enough to nearly destroy the entire city.

It seems to be tied more to psychology than everything. As stated, all Kakines are Kakine. They're all born from the same source. The "Kakine" that Beetle talked to was basically the Kakine that exists within him, his "pure image" of Kakine. That still doesnt explain how Beetle took over the network by simply coming in terms with his inner " Kakine" (lmao). Takitsubo only separated Beetle, the rest was on him, and so if it only took Beetle to confront the "pure image" then wouldn't you say that that image is real enough to be called a will?

There is no singular will of Kakine. If all Kakine's possess a pure image of a Kakine, then that Kakine shall act as their will of the network. Its essentially a self-tulpa

Well the idea here, I think, is that there is no "true" Kakine Teitoku. Even with the "main" personality, you can tell that he's not the same as he used to be. He became more of an exaggeration of his original self, exaggerating his worst traits. It's as if the mask that he's been putting on, his persona, has completely gone out of control.

This is totally just going straight into psychology territory, but when I say "pure image", I mean that it's the strongest image of "Kakine Teitoku" that resided within Beetle 5. This is who Beetle 5 believed Kakine Teitoku to be, the "truest representation" of the bearer of that identity. The "main model" from which Beetle derived all its assumptions regarding its identity. Perhaps it was Beetle 5's image of the "self", the sum total of everything that makes up Kakine Teitoku. See the reason I think Kakine's situation borrows so heavily from the Jungian model of psychology is because the conflict within Beetle 5 and the "main" personality seems to heavily lean towards the idea that there IS no "true" self. The Jungian model states that the human psyche is far too complicated for you to just pick and choose one part and say "that's the real him". Everything, from the masks you wear, the image of yourself you have in your head, the way others see you, these are all merely parts of the whole. We, individually, are a network of different elements that converge together to form a single identity. Basically, you are you and all parts of you are still you. When Beetle took over the central consciousness, he basically realized that "I am just as much Kakine Teitoku as the one I see in my head". Up until then, the image of Kakine Teitoku that he carried within himself was the "king". By coming to the realization that all Kakines are still Kakine, and that he was just as much Kakine as any other Kakine, he managed to usurp that throne.

Remember earlier when I said that the "main" Kakine was an exaggerated, berserk version of the original? He became a shell of his former self who forgot all his original motivations and could only acted out his basest emotions and frustrations. According to Jung, the "self" is the unification of the person's consciousness and unconsciousness, and in the center of that self is the ego. It's important to remember, though, that all of these are still Kakine Teitoku. The "main" self, the beetle, the image in beetle's heart, these were all born from Kakine, his life experiences, memories, emotions, ideologies. Everything he'd seen, felt, heard, said, did. All the beetle did was realize that he was no less Kakine than the others, and upon realizing that, created a more solid foundation than the others.

Now, I don't really know if Kamachi entirely had Jungian psychology in mind when he wrote this, and I'd be surprised if he did because while I did reference Jung in my argument, I don't really think it's perfectly 1:1 with Jung's theories.
