I wonder if they'll ever animate the George Joestar novel or the one with Fugo. There's really no need to animate the George story giving Lisa Lisa told it in Part 2 but I can see a Fugo OVA happening or something.

There's no way that part 8 will still be going by the time part 7 ends. Even if we assume 1 year between adaptations that's around 2 years until part 6 ends and another 2 years until part 7 ends. So 4 years (around 40 chapters for a low estimate) at miniumum but it'll probably be more like 5-6 years. And at the moment I'm thinking that part 8 won't be over 120 chapters.

I am genuinely in fucking shock that neither Giorno or Josuke showed up at the end. Giorno in particular felt extremely obvious with Dio's other sons arriving and how GER would seem like the perfect answer to MIH, I was waiting for him to undo the acceleration from the minute it was explained. Josuke I kind of gave up on earlier but when the crew started dropping I started wondering if he'd show up agai to heal them, and I was fully convinced during the Rohan cameo he'd step in ans start reverting things locally at least.

I get that's not what Araki wanted to do with the ending but geeze, knowing this waa the finale of the original storyline in advance and how prior JoJo crew characters showing up in newer parts had been a thing since SDC I was really primed for a big team up between all living JoJos. Sad we didn't get it.

The story is largely uneventful for the first half, and then just stupid for the second.
The main cast is much weaker than most parts, only beating Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency's.
There is little down time between arcs.
Most of the fights are average or worse with few exceptions. They lack any interesting moments or back and forth. Anything close to an interesting moment comes from the fact that the enemy's stand is weird, but the enemy usually doesn't do anything interesting with them, it's just that it's weird.
Most of the Stands, while cool conceptually, are pretty boring.
Absolute worst set of minor antagonists in the series.
I'm not a fan of how they initially made progress by beating up someone, and then that person having a memory disc that just so happens to lead them to the next objective.
Whitesnake is a horrible stand. This would be a smaller issue if it wasn't the main villain's stand.
Jolyne and Jotaro's relationship is fantastic... until it's resolved in the dumbest way possible.

Legacy is a big theme of Stone Ocean, it's what I would consider to be its main theme. So it's disappointing that, rather than reflecting on the series as a whole since it is the finale of the original universe, it was more a celebration of Stardust Crusaders. There are call backs and references to parts other than SDC, but aside from a few meaningful ones, most of them are just simple nods to older parts, which pretty much every part does. The majority of its meaningful connections to past parts are ones to SDC. It makes SO feel less like a finale to the whole series, and more a sequel to SDC.

One thing I really want from the SO anime is some more cameos like that during the end. Josuke trying to revert whatever is going on in Morioh and failing, maybe Giorno passed out at the beach in Florida while Mista builds a sandcastle to explain why he didn't do shit.

First of all, Part 7 is not liked at all in Japan. 2ndly, Part 6 has a modest reputation.
Part 5 is apart of the JOJO 3. P1, P3,P5. -these are the most popular parts in japan. They get all the merch, they get all the references, they are the ones that mean what JoJo is in Japan.

Anyway, now that ive corrected you, theres a couple arguments. One, Part 7 will be done in Part 4 quality. Theres not an audience for it in japan. They'll have other projects by then. Who cares, heres part 7 on a weekly anime quality.

Part 7 will be best quality. DP aspires to push the envolope in quality, and more importantly, they will work hard because part 7 is the most unliked part, and will need some hardwork to convince japan to like it, without Jotaro.

The falling asleep and swapping souls stems from control of souls, which is what requiem stands do. The suns behind heads thing doesn't really make sense regardless of your interpretation but could possibly just be something that happened because SCR separated itself from Pol.

On the contrary, the western opinion of part 6 is that it's trash and I think that once people actually watch it (at least those that only follow the anime) they will like it even if they don't think it's great. It's more an issue that Giorno is a bad protagonist who is hard to root for because of how fucking consistently boring he is after the man in the mirror fight. If he had the charisma of joseph, development of Johnny, or at least the likeability of Josuke it'd be much better purely by virtue of the fact he could carry the role.

To "fix" the Part 5 ending you'd have to rewrite fights so he more frequently took a leading role in the series and got a chance to grow across it, and somehow rewrite the last third to play up Diavolo's entire rivalry and grudge with the team instead of the cat and mouse chase that goes on. I'd start by cutting Diavolo's agents after the betrayal happens and instead making him killing Abbacchio the kind of shit that happens. Diavolo trailing them as Doppio and picking off members or trying to with guile and stealth, the gang being hunted by him personally and coming just on the edge of finding him out before he got away once or twice would make for a much better way to build the finale up. Play up the tension, subterfuge, mindgames, and personal element of the whole feud. Either give Trish her stand another way or just cut it entirely given how little it matters.[/spolier]

That has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I'm saying that the western reception of part 7 is going to be disappointment even if DP adapts it masterfully. That was my original point (with my interpretations of the opinions on the parts being from the western perspective). That has nothing to do with what Japan thinks or that DP is making things for the Japanese audience. If you're right and the adaptation is mediocre (though I consider all of the adaptations so far fairly mediocre, though I still think it's the best we would have gotten) then that just means that people will wonder what the hype was all about even more. Though I don't think a lot of people that watch the Jojo anime give a shit about art or animation quality and really I don't either to an extent.

Part 7's quality will really depend entirely on the director(s) more than anything else like the budget or animators.

If they don't condense it liberally and tighten the pacing to get it to a reasonable length, if they don't find a way to make the 20 minute episode limit work with the much larger chapters, and if they don't manage to balance this versus what makes the writing work it'll be shit. They can't do it like they have every other part so far, they really need to put work into adapting it for a tv series - stuff like restructuring segments of part 4 to flow better and giving the assassin squad more build up in part 5 is the kind of creative freedom they'll need to consistently hit, and given their attempts to stay faithful to the source material even when it hurts the show I fear they won't have the courage to make it their own.

The 20 minutes shouldn't be an issue. They just can't adapt 4-5 chapters per episode. It'll have to be more like 1.5-2 chapter per episode, at least for the monthly chapters. I think 48 episodes should fit pretty well and I've done the math before (assuming 1.5-2 chapters per episode) and I think they'll have a few episodes left over to either lengthen existing things (1 chapter per episode maybe for the longer chapters) or add new things. Jojolion is more of a problem I think. If it goes over 100 chapters I don't think it'll fit in 48 episodes.

They're good fights but wholely unecessary. You could easily cut them and lose nothing but some (more) Bruno character work, even when Giorno steps up during it all you get is a callback to DIO that's one of the few links between them that could be done another way.

That's not true though, or at least not entirely. Up to joining Bruno's crew he's good, and over the next few fights he gets some good bits where you see why the others start to respect him so soon and his creativity gets shown off. It's once the Assassination Squad fights pick up he basically takes a back seat as Araki tries to properly introduce everyone else and starts focusing on Bruno - at THAT point, yeah, he basically checks out and only chimes in rarely outside his handful of fights.

If he'd kept up like that, he'd be fine. He has groundwork for a decent lead but never gets any actual arc or chance to truly bond with most of the crew because Araki completely fucked up balancing the story to give him more screentime to compensate for Bruno actually driving most of the plot and being the heart of the team.

I've never read any of the manga coloured.

The anime is better overall. A few rough patches with the animation don't change the fact it's done a lot to shore up the weaknesses of La Squadra and that the voice actors are doing really good at bringing even the flatter characters to life, on top of the fact that besides Secco every fight has worked just as well animated or been even better.

This isn't a Part 4 situation where despite the improvements there were a lot of fights that were worse animated and the backgrounds got incredibly shit as it went on. Part 5 was bad before and the anime has helped make it more tolerable.

No amount of good new scenes can replace the subpar storyboarding and slideshow tier animation.
There is only 1 sakuga moment per episode most of the time (which again is an improvement over part 3 and 4) but that is still not enought because of all the stills and pans.
It's a slideshow 90% of the time with 1 good scene or so per episode.

Old UC Gundam looked amazing even if it was a TV anime.
Hajime no Ippo season 1 looked great for 75 episodes.
The JoJo OVA while being an OVA had a competent director and character designer.
The desings were simpler which allowed easier animation. Even if they had more time the choices they made, made them have an easier job animating.
Hell even HxH 2011 had boring direction BUT the soundtrack was godly and had waaay more sakuga moments than JoJo.
What i want to say is that David Pro has no excuse for running things this poorly, especially because they are not a new studio anymore.

female jojo again, Its actually triplet jojos, not-haruno, not-shizuka and not-Jolyne (either all female or fake triplets), they all have dark hair like their father.
in the beggining of the story they are about to turn 15 though their father (mother dead) is throwing them a birthday party, but looks unusually anxious about it, looking at the clock.
as the clock reaches their time of birth not-jolyne hair turns curly blonde, not-shizuka hair is partially dyed green, and not-haruno hair turns pink with dark spots, there is great confusion and even more abnormal things seem to be happening.
Throughout all this sirens can be heard in the distance, coming closer... then there's a forceful knock on the door, followed by it being kicked down revealing the military and one big mean-looking machine. its the fashion police

If they follow the same format they’ve done with 4 and 5 I expect we’ll get Part 6 in 2021, the first half of SBR in 2023 and the second half in 2024. Then JJL will begin airing in 2026. It’s possible JJL won’t be finished by then, but it’ll be super close. If he keeps having one or two breaks a year then we’ll hit chapter 150 in 2025, and it probably won’t go much further beyond that.

Are you retarded? The part isn’t even close to finished yet and it’s a long running mystery story, not everything that is brought up is resolved completely at first. If you’d read the most recent chapter you’d know Araki actually has long running arcs planned for the ‘dropped’ early characters, it just takes a long ass time because it’s monthly and Araki doesn’t want to rush it.

If you’re reading digitally then yeah, they’re designed for reading on a screen since the original manga was designed to be read physically, and on a screen can be hard to parse. I’m a purist at heart but the JJCA coloured versions are fine as long as you’ve also read the B&W.

It’s also very cheap looking and clearly rushed.

Sasame’s Stand is even dumber and he’s back. Also Kyo’s kept getting a bio in every volume all the way up to the newest one. She’s Kira’s little sister for fuck’s sake, she probably won’t be involved in many fights going forward but plot wise she’s still relevant and Araki clearly has plans for her considering even after editing the bio page in the volumes after the Damo arc he kept her there and even moved her over to the side that Kira is on and not the Higashikata side.

D4C lasted 30 chapters because, until then, Valentine never had any fight (just the stand reveal when Lucy hits him with a knife), so Araki gave him 3 fights in a row: Diego & Wekapipo, Diego & Hot Pants, Johnny & Gyro. In Jojolion, Jobin already had 2 arcs (Beetlemania, Poor Tom), a flashback and a good amount of screentime. So all that remains is his final battle with Josuke. Since Gyro & Johnny VS Valentine was 12 chapters, more or less, I think in JJL will be the same. Saying that, we are at chapter 86, during the final rockman arc, later we will have the Kaato arc (5 chapters more or less), and in the end 10-12 chapters of battle against Jobin. So yeah, Jojolion will end in 24 chapters, and will be composed of 27 volumes.

Traitors Requiem is a worse op than chase but overall both are still great songs. it might just be that the actual visuals are kinda boring. chase atleast had that whole creepy vibe going on that fit the tone of that portion of the anime.

It's a great tense fight, has character development for Trish, and it's the only "enemy" they don't actually defeat

I'll never understand why anyone would put part 5 above any other part in the franchise, the fights are fucking long, draggy, full of nonstop talking and take up 80% of what happens in the part. The villains are dumb pushovers and Gio's ability is fucking busted even without Requiem. Sorry for partshitting, but I honest to God don't understand.
