To be fair, the beginning was amazing, and they focused a shit ton on the food itself rather than the characters.

I'd say the moon festival was the last time it was good. I started reading the manga just to catch up on the EL HERMANO memery but I just got bored around the train arc (which is the halfway point?). I just don't feel like reading it anymore so I dropped it. I'm reading Shield Hero instead. Now every chapter actually feels like fun instead of "ugh... how long until El Hermano shows up?"

El Hermano shows up way way later. But it doesnt matter, since the train arc was a cool concept but with a shit execution.
It stopped being entertaining when MUH CENTRAL appeared

This is the problem of Shokugeki, the stupid amount of characters. Instead of having a set of protagonists, antagonists, secondaries and background characters, the author just throws new ones and replaces the old ones whenever the situation is needed.

It feels good knowing this series is on the decline.
I loved it at first, but then they jumped the shark with Central showing up and all the fun was sucked out. I dropped it soon after.
Now I can sit back, watch the fire, and find comfort in not caring about this series long enough to subject myself to the garbage it has become.

Usually I'm sad when this happens to a series I like, but for some reason I enjoy hearing about what a disaster Shokugeki no Soma has become.

There's only so much you can do with a cooking manga in a shounen magazine. Since you can't really develop realistic hardships for the MC, you either focus on the romcom aspect or go full retard with DBZ shounenfaggotry, and Souma chose wrong.

The dark chefs was probably the most retarded thing ever, be it the super powers, or the whole concept of a dark side.
Heck, an easier take would be a company trying to win people with artificial flavoring and so forth. But nope, chainsaw and whatever abilities were necessary because the author went full retard.

Tsukuda wrote himself into a corner with the end of the RdC. Souma and the rest of the main cast simply became too powerful, and instead of making some believable competition for them, we got le edgy dark chefs and O MY CROSS KNIVES. Erina completely lost any character development she had. I believe the manga could still be saved even after the RdC arc, but el hermano's bullshit killed it.
