>TMS Entertainment animated Sora to Umi no Aida, an anime based on a dying mobage >TMS Entertainment is animating this show, which is also based on a (dying?) mobage What did they mean by this? Also new episode tonight.
Also, is it true that the ED is actually a famous Japanese song and is associated with baseball? Something about Koshien?
I don't understand why this anime isn't popular. It's cute girls doing cute things, isn't that a recipe for success?
Lucas Jenkins
Tsubasa a best
Aiden Allen
> sports > QUALITY > mobage adaption tends to put people off
Luke Morgan
Mobage adaptions had a pretty good run before this show.
William Miller
they can be good but this one has other negatives putting it off
Samuel Miller
1. Sports. Most people don't care about it. 2. Animation is very shoddy. 3. Absolutely no fanservice.
That's three strikes.
David Peterson
Is this anime still QUALITY?
Christopher Ramirez
A lot of mobage adaptations have been good, but not very financially successful.
Connor Garcia
>1 Didn't stop Haikyuu, Free, or Uma Musume
>2 Didn't stop 5toubun
>3 Didn't stop a lot of shows
Hunter Cruz
You know what's funny? The VA of Ruby from SoraUmi is also in this anime, voicing Tomoe.
Jaxson Phillips
They usually have a dedicated fanbase, but aren't THAT popular.
Zachary Hernandez
Baseball blows.
Adam Gutierrez
>They usually have a dedicated fanbase Even Space Fishing?
Thomas Collins
Why do these things always have orange-haired genki MCs? LL, LLS, SoraUmi, and now this.
Thomas Lopez
I never paid attention to the threads, no idea.
Noah Cooper
So how come that space fishing show, which was also animated by TMS, had okay animation, but this one is instead full of QUALITY?
Carson Anderson
Only had to read the first 4 words to realize this is another MKL talking to himself thread.
Camden Howard
Yeah, but those shows didn't have all THREE problems at once.
Aaron Turner
How did you say it's him? He hasn't posted in this thread.
Justin Gray
How many hours until the episode?
Henry Reyes
I can only see it as a bad run of barely getting any attention. Between this, Space fishing, Million Arthur and Pastel Memories they've all been mostly ignored in the last few seasons. Of those I can sort of see why they're ignored as aside from Million Arthur they've just been okay.
You also forgot Circlet Princess: I know it's a browser game, but the mechanics are similar.
Jose Young
>You also forgot Circlet Princess I managed to forget that despite getting the Ryuuji sub batch. There was also Merc Storia that I recall someone trying to get people to watch it. From what I've watched Manaria Friends is the only mobage success in recent seasons, and is also the only one that seemed to get a budget.
Logan Adams
>that pic My god
Joshua Hughes
Was there a week long break or something? There was no episode last week.
Hunter Roberts
Break due to French Open
Samuel Robinson
>tfw we will never get another masterpiece like this ever again
Fucking French, I almost thought the show got pulled off air because of the QUALITY.
Samuel Phillips
Wouldn't be surprised though if that was actually the case and the French Open was just an excuse.
Angel Baker
Hachigatsu would be more popular if it had bathing scenes.
Isaiah Reyes
I guess the overlap area between dudes who enjoy cute girls and dudes (female) who enjoy baseball is actually not so large. I for one find extreme comfy zone mixing meisei story and cinderella 9.
Hudson Murphy
Good for you
Levi Morales
I don't think it really needs overlap if it does the CGDCT side right. I don't think a significant number of people here are into camping or mountain climbing yet with cute girls and nice dialogue it can get recognition.
I watched the first two episodes, but ended up dropping it. None of the girls really stood out to me, and it was just kinda boring in general. And I'm saying this as someone who watches 99% of cute girl slice of life shows.
Austin Thompson
Senpais and Umaru are best girls, too bad there's almost no focus on them
TMS only produced it, the actual animation is done by 5 studios by the names of Studio Comet, Studio Twinkle, Rocket Production, Hiwa and A-Line, TMS did not have anything to do with it animation wise (same with the Bakugan reboot as thats done by Studio Hibari).
Bermuda was way better than Sora Umi. It was actually fun and had good characters. It was stupid but silly and relaxing too while Sora Umi was just really dumb and had annoying drama.
Best girl Caro here. I hope her VA gets more work.
Bermuda also did a nice job being just a simple SoL despite the Cardfight setting, while Sora to Umi never knew if it wanted to show mobage action or CGDCT. At least it will always be remembered for the Murrican disregarding Japanese cuisine webm.
I really liked Bermuda. It was a low budget calm SoL that was related to that card game franchise, so everyone ignored it. But if you like that kind of relaxing SoL, you might like it. Space Fishing on the other hand I watched only for Ruby, and it still felt like wasted time.
Nah, those anons are likely being truthful. I agree that it was a pretty enjoyable anime despite its low budget, but I'd imagine most people probably wouldn't enjoy it as much as me. It was a fun and stupid show with some genuinely great scenes that I wouldn't have expected from a show like it and I liked the premise of a bunch of cute girls revitalizing and maintaining a movie theater and the whole town gathering to watch movies every once in a while. Honestly, I wish a better anime would re-use that premise with better writing and characters. Maybe something like Fune wo Amu, but with maintaining a movie theater instead of creating a dictionary. No lies here, but I can understand why it's unpopular and why most people would skip or drop it.
>Due to French Open broadcasts, episode 8 has been pre-empted and is scheduled for 6/9 Being a shit and delay it until next week despite another TV channel is still planning to air episode 8 tomorrow.
Nathan Lopez
One weird thing about the space fishing anime is that someone working on it must have had an age gap fetish. Like the couple who ran the noodle shop was an old man with a young girl. MakiMaki had daddy issues and exclusively dated older men apparently. It was a weird quirk that seemed a bit out of place for the show. Also the tomboy was pointless and didn't do anything like the other characters.
Lincoln Edwards
So is it actually going to be delayed yet again? That sucks.
This show is terrible, it's basically turn your brain off for enjoyment. I'm glad I watched it as it aired because I can't imagine watching more than 2 consecutive episodes of this
Levi Martin
It's a shame that you're such a pleb but don't worry
I don't really want to hijack this thread since I'm honestly really enjoying this show but when the hell am I ever gonna get the chance to talk about Bermuda or Akanesasu Shoujo again?
Nathan Turner
You can just make a thread about them.
Charles Reyes
To be fair, this week's episode was good because it provided how LOST happened
Nah I dropped bermuda instead, only yurifags latched onto it like the usual. Better waste your time on space fishing, shit kinda fun and nicer aesthetics too.
Totally forgot we didn't get an episode last week either. What was the reason for that?
Logan Green
Tennis
Jack Green
Was AS only liked by yurifags? The threads seemed full of them towards the end.
Brandon Scott
Yuri? Hell now I'll watch it
Gabriel Sullivan
Nah, personally I love it due to the "going into other worlds saving shit" and henshin shit, great CG too, also that >forgive/love yourself theme. But yeah, thread full of them towards the end. Bring your tightest goggles though I only watched it until episode 4 and kinda forgot about it mid season, it has some somewhat soothing underwater background arts.
Evan Powell
People liked it before the yuri stuff
Gabriel Jackson
>Delayed again What the fuck is it with this idiotic scheduling? It's not like they didn't know the French Open was happening, the tournament's been going for over 100 years
Ian Foster
I'm sure the studio fucking jumped at the chance to have two weeks to get their shit together a bit more.
Kayden Cooper
twitter.com/hachinai89/status/1135216459519369217 Only one day since the channels that air the show on Monday nights aren't going to delay it this time around. Dunno what's going to happen with the subs though.
Isaac Howard
It's basically a case of subtext in actual literary definition. Girl A is in love with Girl B and you can notice it long before she confesses, but it's more noticeable in the second half, and most people tend to curb their expectations on original stories due to most of them not venturing beyond plausible deniability. In AS it's much harder to deny it. Still, said feelings, while important, are not in the center of the story.
Joseph Sullivan
Talking about tennis and obscure shows, did anyone else here watch Softenni?
Isaac Sanchez
That's beside the point and it isn't the only anime affected by this, it's like the World Series "suddenly appearing" in the TV schedules and everything having to be changed at the last minute, do the Japs really not plan that far in advance?
Aaron Morales
Are you talking about Akanesasu?
Owen Walker
Barely any yuri, just very slight undertones. At most was some handholding. I really don't even remember a lot of yurifagging in the threads anyways.
Yeah I did. It was pretty fun. Sillier than most cute girls doing cute things, closer to Sabagebu.
Kayden Rodriguez
Yes. Akanesasu isn't a yuri anime, but it is an anime with yuri. Every character has an arc, and for one character it's about their love for another character, which ends up being requited.
Justin Ward
They presented the yuri as kind of a joke with EroYuu so I don't think many people took the idea of it seriously until the confession near the end. But yeah, it wasn't the focus of the story, just a part of it that ended up working pretty well.
Akanesasu hooked me in on the JUSTICE arc. It went from being an okay show that I would forget about to one of my most anticipated anime of the season. The yuri is a plus, but the anime easily stands by itself, the final episode being pure kino
Joseph Ortiz
Cowgirl Asuka was great. And normal Asuka really ended up being the star of the show by the end.
Lincoln Reed
Something like Strawberry Panic is a yuri anime because yuri romance storyline is at a centerstage of the plot. Akanesasu is anime with yuri, since it has explicit yuri that is none the less a sideplot. Like a difference between romance anime and anime with romance.
Caleb Cooper
sorry i misread your post and thought you were denying the existence of it, gomen but yes i do understand the difference
Softenni is more on the comedic side, not much substance to it but it wasn't a bad show. I would have forgotten it completely if it wasn't for the music which is great and still on my anisong playlist, incidentally along with the recently released HachiNai OP theme single by Miyuhan.
Isn't 180cm giant-tier in Japan? What the hell, she didn't seem that tall in the anime
Jacob Brooks
Because they're retards.
Jackson Sullivan
The yurifag salesfag hates guys, specifically "self-insert MCs". He also avoids most shows with males like he's allergic to them. I can think of several other yurifags who act similarly.
Blake Robinson
I still remember that dude who made everyone orgasm with his massages
Tyler Gutierrez
Because they're casuals. Boys might not be as cute as girls, but there's nothing wrong with them existing.
I feel it's more how they're done than the presence of men. GJ-bu could've been a great CGDCT show but the harem-like atmosphere with how much all the girls liked the personality devoid guy got in the way. Compared to that there's SoL like Acchi Kocchi that was good because it was just a quite nice pairing instead of harem.
Brody Carter
Does this show have yuri?
Jaxson Myers
Sometimes the show is just better off without male romantic interests.
Landon Robinson
How about NNB? That had male characters but it seems most CDGCTfags who aren't yuri purists liked it.
Liam James
both shows have threads on /u/
Michael Hernandez
It's strange though. Most yaoifags seem to tolerate females existing in their shows, and only the most rabid or delusional ones think the women are potential love interests wanting to steal away the guys from having BL love.
Do yaoifags have the equivalent of the class S shitposters? Considering any male characters in yuri seems to bring those sorts of posters it helps to have fewer in the story. Like we saw at the end of Manaria Friends the characters don't even have to exist for it to happen sometimes and they fanfic some men that will marry them at some point.
Guess it has to do with yaoi being more separated from mainstream romance stories by design. As in, yaoi authors usually write for a very specific audience, using yaoi as a main dish. Whereas yuri is less defined and often used as a side dish, with relatively more frequent cases of bait&switch, plausible deniability or non-ending. Yuri fans are just burned more often, so they tend to overreact more often.
Grayson King
>Do yaoifags have the equivalent of the class S shitposters? just go into any "it's time" thread and you'll see arguments about how Sarazanmai, isn't REALLY homo. And that's just this season.
Evan Edwards
So now that they have more than 9 players, who is getting benched?
Partially that and partially real observable cases of writers intentionally using "lesbian" characters/situations as a bait for readers only to switch it out or give it no development.
Austin Cook
How long will the episode be delayed?
Oliver Perry
It's fine to have your seasonal pleasures, but please don't compare them to genuinely great shows like they're the same thing.
Justin Harris
A lot of yurifags don't understand the difference between love and sexual desire, having only experienced the latter and never the former. Also, they lack the imagination to make things up in their heads, so when there's no "payoff" they get assblasted
Says the guy who won't accept the fact that KF S2 tanked hard despite having zero guys, or how Kemurikusa was a success despite not only having a male MC, but actually ending with a het end. Or how Yagate Kimi ni Naru was one of the best selling canon yuri shows in years, despite having male characters.
Besides most mobage being actual cash-grab garbage, there's no one behind them that actually cares about them. So, not only is the source soulless, but the animators and writers don't put any of their own soul into it. And then there's the limited budgets for non-Cygames mobage. There are obvious exceptions like Bermuda Triangle, Last Period, and Shingeki no Bahamut S1 where the staff actually put some effort into the anime to not just be some sad adaption of a mobile game, but most of them remain a sad existence merely made to get more people into the mobage and make some money off blurays. The takeaway here, I think, is that mobage anime should just completely ignore the actual story and make up a new, original one that has the characters goof around the whole time and just have fun. Adding in drama or sticking to the original feels like the wrong move in every case.
>there's no one behind them that actually cares about them The VAs of Space Fishing did it seems, they even tweeted their thanks when the game closed down.
Yeah, I actually wanted to counter myself by saying the seiyuu actually usually put some heart into their performances even in the lowest budget shows. Reminds me of when anons post Tweets of new seiyuu talking about doing their best for low-budget shorts and stuff, like JK Meshi, Crane Game Girls, and others. It's cute and makes me want to cheer for them.
>here's a bunch of exceptions >but trust me all of them are like this Please stop before you turn into a fully retarded salesfag, there's still hope for you.
Jack Miller
Most of the Space Fishing VAs were newbies, right? I remember people sharing some tweets from Caro's VA from Bermuda Triangle and it seemed like she really enjoyed the role.
Isaiah Morales
I don't know what you're getting at, but most of the mobage adaptions I've seen and have heard opinions about are garbage. I don't care about sales, I care about content.
Juan Lopez
Yes, except for the orange haired and blue haired girls' VAs. And even they weren't that popular to begin with.
That's like thinking you have a chance with the girl who waited on you in a restaurant because she smiled at you. It doesn't mean anything, it's her job. Seiyuu are paid to do PR that means social media too.
Asher Edwards
Any examples of QUALITY from the show?
Kevin Barnes
Outside of the low quality visuals it has sometimes, the glove in this scene is supposed to specifically be a dark blue color.
Tsubasa is the most underrated girl of the season.
Jason Ross
That might have something to do with how men generally consider purity/virginity desirable in women, while women are generally attracted by assertiveness and success in men, which includes an active sex life. Also, a huge part of yuri is about being more pure, childish and innocent than regular romance, while yaoi prides itself on being forbidden and rotten to some extent.
Tyler Powell
Episode when?
Luis Lopez
Soon.
Owen Cooper
How soon?
William Bennett
Who knows
Tyler Diaz
god I hate the tennis now
Jack Morales
Screw the episode, where's the Tsubasa porn?
Angel Martin
Is it the French's fault, again, as to why we don't have a new episode yet?
Why aren't you using Uma Musume anymore, shit fucking stain? Didn't that sell well? Oh wait, it's fucking dead. Karma's a bitch. asshole. >Yagate Kimi ni Naru was one of the best selling canon yuri shows in years, despite having male characters. Were you living in a cave, retard? YagaKimi got fucking exposed. It didn't sell well at all. Why would a yuri anime with shit pricks sell? No wonder Citrus flopped >How Kemurikusa was a success despite not only having a male MC, but actually ending with a het end And yet it got outsold by a fucking yuribait short and an all-girls mobage anime You really love making an ass out of yourself by posing as me, using my favorite Serval and my salesposting shit against me. Bringing up those bullshit shows that can't outperform K-On and KFS1's sales and you don't reply to me everytime I bring up these facts because you think you're a smartass for not doing it. Jashin barely sold enough and got S2 eventually. Uma Musume's bullshittery showed that sales aren't always the endgame, you fucking stalker poser.
Still on the backlog so I can't judge that one but for the rest I feel 6/10 is the best I could give. Also does that even count as a mobage adaption considering the game launched after the anime started?
Well it's been over a day and no subs so I guess we'll have to wait another week. Fuck tennis.
Anthony Gutierrez
The episode had already aired in a TV channel in Japan but no raw yet although it seems CR still insists they are going to release the episode next Sunday instead.
Nathaniel Ramirez
I assume streaming sites like CR get some timed exclusivity rule so they can't upload it until after certain TV stations have. I'm sure I've seen this happen before where the TV airing gets delayed and the stream gets delayed the same amount. Hopefully to catch up they'll air 2 episodes back to back at some point otherwise this show is going to run into next season.
Well, currently Kemurikusa is the third biggest seller of the Winter 2019 season only behind Manaria "Gacha Codes" Friends and Bandori and you need to remember that we are talking about a completely new and original anime that is only 12 episodes long and with no popular gacha game or manga or light novel to back it. The latest and highest verified sales number for Kemono Friends Volume 1 is 40813, reported around eight months after it went on sale, Kemurikusa Volume 1 has sold 14353 and Kemono Friends 2 Volume 1 has sold 458, so the drop from KF1 V1 to KK V1 is currently at 64,83%, meanwhile the drop from KF1 V1 to KF2 V2 is currently at 98,88%, so someone must call the Record Guinness because we have a record drop here. Kemurikusa was promoted only as the new series by Tatsuki and Yaoyorozu and the objective was to make a series that the people could enjoy, so seeing the huge acclaim and sales that got from the fans then the objective has been fulfilled.
Easton Nguyen
>lesbian ntr everywhere I thought it was about sport.
Dominic Sullivan
I'm catching up with the series. I think it's enjoyable enough. The quality is jarring at times though. On another note, those are some big butts.
only boomers like baseball at this point, no one else cares
Owen Nelson
Then why do Nips dream of going to Koshien?
Ethan Cooper
Because cartoons aren't real life. Bloomers haven't been the official girls gym uniform for decades, but 60s-born authors kept them in manga for years and years because that's all they knew.
Samuel Lee
they keep them because they have exquisite taste bloomers are the greatest clothing there is for girls
Mason Green
Bloomers are ugly, sports shorts are better because they're loose and leave something to the imagination.
Dominic Rogers
well fitting bloomers that perfectly show off their asses are godtier
older women being forced to wear their old bloomers and getting embarrassed is to go further beyond
Why not watch porn or go to the beach if you just want to look at ass directly? The casual nature of the sports shorts coupled with girls outside exercising is sublime, and even better it isn't strictly limited to teenagers since women in their 20s also wear shorts when jogging.
>older women
only works if they are asian, because all other races get fat over 30 but asian mommies stay thin
Asher Hernandez
When did bloomers die out anyway?
Jack Cook
> bringing 3DPD into this i am ONLY talking about 2D
It is impossible to discuss 2D entirely independently of 3D as 2D is an idealization of 3D. The slut in 3D becomes the flirty gyaru in 2D, the fat weird quiet girl in 3D becomes the large breasted librarian in 2D, the loud annoying girl in 3D becomes the loud annoying genki childhood friend in 2D.
It all flows from one to the other, perfected through the pens of men.
Jaxon Ramirez
You might as well ask why Japanese schools began adopting uniforms that are more British-style than the old sailor style. Times and styles change.
Alexander Perry
I don't think the QUALITY is that bad. I mean there is QUALITY here, but there have been plenty of shows that were even worse. At least it doesn't rise to the level of stuff like Marchen Madchen.
Owen Gonzalez
> Hachigatsu Cinderalla, not as bad as Marchen Madchen! that will make it really popular i'm sure
Jacob Martin
I don't care about the QUALITY, Tsubasa is still a real cutie.
