His arms are still crossed and his hand is tapping, trying to find the exact beat of the complex time signatures which alternate between 4/4, 5/4, 6/8, and 7/4. You can't help but stare at him.You catch him stealing another glance at you during a particularly heartfelt lyric.
In between songs, you decide to move closer to him. He pretends not to notice, but you can see him getting red. No way he can blame it on the sunset. Maybe he's already drunk and he can blame it on that. Who knows?
The band begins to play again. They start off slow but the drums quickly set the pace. Jean starts rocking back and forth with the song. His body moves with purpose and determination. He sways from left to right as the song breaks out of it's tight structure into a free-form feel. He pushes into you a few times and you can't help but move along with him. Structure returns and his movements become predictable once again. You follow his lead. The song and the entire world feels like it's climbing ever higher to some grand peak. Finally, the song hits a climax and you find Jean dancing with you. It lasts less than a minute, but you wish it could go on forever. You want him to embrace you so badly.
The song finishes. Jean smiles, takes a swig of his beer, and then turns away, respectfully. You don't see him for the rest of the night. You wish deeply that you could see him again.

Levi's squad is cannon fodder introduced to showcase the strength of Female Titan and teach Eren a lesson. They are not actually important at all beyond whatever emotional attachment the actual main characters had for them. Isayama writes them as if they mattered, but they essentially die in the same arc they're introduced in.
Also to address Marco again, I included him for consistency with the whole top 10 thing but Isayama even said he just existed to be a character for Jean's growth.
The point being this- most of the characters who die either illustrate great danger or just exist to push the growth of others.

Chapter begins from Zeke's POV, wondering about the surprise nature of the attack and we see an image indicating us that he was unsure about actually screaming and trigger the 300 ready to be titanized soldiers nearby, not wanting to use his "trump card" too soon.
Yelena is happy to see Zeke at first but has to find safety in the floors under as Marleyan soldiers started to shoot at her, boyega and the group on the rooftop area where Eren transformed in 116.
Porco seemingly loses his composure YET AGAIN after reminiscing the early warrior days, and charges full speed towards Zeke jumping from one rooftop to another. While Reiner is still lying down, Eren doesn't waste time and create a sort of spear with the Warhammer power about to throw it towards Porco (who has reached the wall at this point and mid-jumping towards it ) but just before throwing it is hit again by a bullet from Magath, resulting in the hardened spear going off course/higher than planned. Coincidentally, it reached Zeke's position so he managed to catch it and throw it back at Porco from above.
Last pages of the chapter are focused on Manlet and Hange, recovering in a sort of secluded plain area. Hange briefly tries to tell manlet that she's lost control of the situation and that she fails to understand Eren and Historia's actions, regretting they weren't able to find another solution regarding Historia. As she was carrying him piggyback and walking, she ended up before Historia's house and the chapter ends here with the guard/farmer being shocked at their arrival.

You better be joking if you think I’m talking about Queen Historia taking a bullet for everybody’s sake by complying with the plan that would feed her with the Kemono no Kyojin to secure the whole island’s safety despite Eren stood for her. I’m talking about Queen Historia getting pregnant out of pure love for Eren and patiently waiting to give birth the new hope for Eldia so she can rise her blades again as the Enemy of Humanity and join Eren on his plan to destroy the world.

JM is far more healthy than EM and I'll tell you why. Mikasa is obsessive, clingy, and delusional. She won't acknowledge that she has romantic feelings for Eren but in the meantime actively discourages him from things like joining the SL and gets jealous and hostile when he's around other girls like Annie or Historia. She projects kindness and nobility onto her precious scarf hero who considers her a sibling-like nuisance 99% of the time. Jean is jealous, certainly, but assuming his arguments with Eren are all around Mikasa is just as vain and delusional as thinking his decision to join the SL was entirely based on MUH MARCO. He and Eren have clear ideological differences that boil down to their very nature and while Mikasa is a recurring theme but she is NOT THE CAUSE for the majority of their disagreements. Jean gives Mikasa a healthy amount of space and only steps in at times when she's cornered. Things like when Floch was ranting at EM during the medal ceremony, or when Connie was going off on her during 108. And again for 108, when she immediately volunteers to take MUH EREH'S TITAN, he steps in. I know that Connie volunteered to take the titan instead of Jean but it's more significant coming from someone pragmatic like him. He calmly explains to our autistic heroine why her dreams of inheriting EREH's titan can't happen, and is met with a brick wall until Eren agrees with him. He knows she's stronger (physically) than he is and does what he can.
It boils down to the fact that Jean is a healthy, caring, good human being and Mikasa is Eren's fucking guard dog. She doesn't deserve him.

I agree. I think haggis is good for this because she has always been about discovery and innovation, basically she is someone who looks to the future with hopes of advancement.
Manlet is the opposite of this, he's too hung up on sacrifices and promises of the past which is why he got himself crippled in the first place. Isayama even said himself that he wore the SC cloak in marley because he has a hard time letting go of the old ways.
In the end, it makes sense for her to teach him that he needs to find his own freedom. But I wouldn't bet on it actually happening.

I think you're right about that: there's probably a bit of self-awareness, just like Kenny knew that he along with everyone else had their own personal obsessions. The mere fact that Manlet was fully aware that his idea of feeding Zeke to a placeholder immediately was ridiculous and that he could only answer to the legitimate concerns of his subordinates with "I know this shit is stupid but trust me man" also seems to align with your interpretation.

It's confusing because many people say that isayama uses the anime to fix his mistakes but does that mean manlet never threatened historia in "canon"? I don't think he'd make a revision like that. The volunteers left for the continent along with the Scouts, and since Yelena wasn't present when they read the letter Eren sent them, it's safe to say she fucked off together with him at some point. Eren also couldn't have known where the SC base was and whether the SC was there prior to sending the letter if he had left the Island on his own, so he most likely left along with the SC and went rogue sometime after they reached the continent and settled into their hideout.
Everyone was definitely still on Paradis by the time Historia got pregnant (otherwise it would make no sense for Rogue to suspect Yelena if she weren't there), but whether the SC knew or were informed before leaving is another matter entirely.

i think the kenny parallel is going to be important for his character going forward. like how kenny outright says that violence was all he had and seems almost oddly ashamed of it at times in those flashbacks to manlet's childhood, and stuff like his speech about killing humans or even his rambling 'pep talk' to eren kinda make it seem like manlet thinks about himself in similar terms

Maybe Isayama only wanted to be sure that Eren and Historia scene was well done (sorry for bringing EH again, but I only saw videos of him there). Some things like the farmer (no matter who you think the father is, journalists, Eren's phrase about BR...were kind of "important" for future events in the manga. Historia and manlet scene made no sense, would need to find it and I can't remember the name right now but there is one ErwLfag having big influence in the anime and basically ignoring half of Isayama's original points. Problem with this is that he is destroying manlet's character. For example (not shipping them) when Mikasa tells her story manlet turns his head and is sad, not in the anime. In the anime manlet doesn't comfort Hange, nor he threats Historia, he doesn't tell the being a monster speech, etc. Even one of the lines about Marie was removed iirc

I think a possible explanation is that Isayama wasn't that satisfied of how he handled most of the arc and was open to revisions but given the number of episodes for the arc the rush in the first half was inevitable, subplots had to be cut short or ditched and some characters suffered as a result of the script modifications. And obviously it's not like he could have just come out and said they did a poor job adapting it even if some or most of the changes were underwhelming.

No, it really didn't. In chapter 100 Eren talks about the letter going to his friends and not his family, we see the SC read the letter in 106 and Eren himself in 105 tells Manlet that everything was as he explained in the letter, and even questions his ability to read. Not once in 116 or 115 is it even hinted at that the letter wasn't actually for them, and Eren wouldn't have needed to send one to get in touch with Zeke since they were in the same city and Yelena would've naturally acted as a middle man between the two.

While she indeed explained Zeke's plan to Eren, she hardly was any close to them in Marley.
And third, while it is true that Eren sent a letter to Paradis with someone, somehow, he couldnt have sent a letter without first meeting Zeke. Zeke played a role on the raid, and they had to reach an agreement first.

What point are you even making? He had no reason to make the distinction between his family and his comrades if he weren't talking about his comrades to whom he actually sent the damn letter. If he didn't want to talk about Zeke he didn't have to name him, that's all. You're also just completely ignoring the fact that the SC are explicitely shown reading the letter Eren sent, and that he tells himself them about the letter he sent, which we have no reason to assume was a different letter from the one he made Falco send. And no, the letter wasn't sent to Paradis, Marley naturally doesn't deliver mail there. In 108 Armin talks about the Paradis higher ups making decisions while the SC was laying low in Marley, so they had a base there which Eren could and clearly did send the letter to.

Of course she was, the SC left with the volunteers, whom the govt was planning on locking up after their return. But since she wasn't anywhere to be seen while the SC were shown reading the letter it's safe to assume she fucked off with Eren after they all reached the continent and set up their base.
It's really not that complicated and I don't see why you're trying to make this more convoluted than it needs to be.
