But the anime kinda foreshadowed that with the mindscape dream scenes, which explicitly said that the Xi and Animas existences are interlinked, and "Anima/Xi are the hope" of each respective species (Humanity/Ayy LMAOS), which also nicely explains the lack of Anima from the US.
