No it wasn't. It was a way of conveniently dealing with the "I have setup man vs the unknowable God/fate of humanity and have no fucking idea how to resolve this conflict" problem. It was Berserk's descent into generic dark fantasy with Shonen characters and sex.

Its clear that miura has a very vague outline of his story already the problem is writing it from a to z properly he's probably at this point fucked up in several ways from devoting like a good thirty years to berserk so of course hes gonna slow down at this point

He should have tried to stop Berserk at 150-160 chapters. Escalate the story after Golden age and maybe give us a symbolically optimistic ending and Berserk's rep wouldn't be in question. But he had to drag it out for the sweet bucks. There was no way that after the introduction of God Hand and revelation of the scope of the final boss, going back to commonly used horror/dark fantasy story and setting would have preserved the quality of the book.

For once OP was not a faggot. I'd get rid of the party for a start, with it being Guts' lone quest to restore Casca with Puck. He could still meet people along the way and temporarily align with them, but they'd be pertained to each arc.

He's right though. It started with Conviction. Ganishka himself is great but so much of that arc blended together.

the conviction arc wasn't bad. The millennium arcs weren't bad for the most part, just at times got dragged out a bit (like the battle at the harbor).

They feel like bloat more than anything else. The direction they took was also a step down from Golden age.

Well that´s just a shit opinion. The lost children arc and most of the black swordsman arc where fucking great. Berserk is (or was at the time) dark fantasy alright but that´s not bad in any way. I know some people don´t like this fairy/ traditional RPG arc but the way i see it, it´s all about the world visually showing or representing Guts internal changes and growth. When he lost everything he was in hell, surrounded by demons and regret and pain and all manner of terrible things happened around him. Now that he is no longer alone the world is more amicable or civil, this too will end soon as Casca´s return changes everything again. It´s the theme what will give everything cohesion from the golden age until right now. I really don´t have any major complains even though i enjoyed some parts more than others. Just learn to enjoy stuff man, you are not actually going to fix anything by ranting.
