previous translators delayed chapters like big gays so yes

Obviously they are wrong. Getting quality raws from japan costs 1000+ bucks alone. So does buying photoshop for every member of the team. You also need to buy food for everyone, pay the rent for the translation office and pay all the electrical bills. The highest internet speed possible is also required which results in additional costs.

Based

Even if everything can be done for free if a series has no raws that will cost money. If they are running a site, hosting will also cost money.

Of course they're right, but they had to ruin it with a shitty sonic meme.

I think you're forgetting the medical bills for my sick mom senpai

every fucking time

I bet she's sick of you for 15 years amirite?

It's okay to donate if you appreciate the work scanlators do. But if they're
>begging
>saying that you SHOULD donate
>guilt tripping you
>paywalling something they haven't licensed
or something like that, then they can go fuck themselves.

Reminder.

>she
What? It's a girl?

>letting people know they can donate if they appreciate your work
good
>begging for shekels or demanding payment for scanlation, i.e profiting off someone else's work
bad

it's that fucking simple

It's a """she""" aka tranny.

>she
What? lol

You forgot the cost of going to Japan to learn Japanese

It does cost a lot of time and some money if you buy your raws, but you still shouldn't give your money to scanlators.

Oh no, who could've saw that coming?

Attached: 1556654364335.png (133x265, 62K)

Sorry guys, but despite finishing the latest chapter of your favourite manga, we are unable to release it since you did not donate enough money.

>paying to pirate
Do americans really do this?

What a piece of shit, hope his mother becomes sick for real.

Oh boy, time to dump some of my old scanlator drama stuff.

Hatigarm had a full caught up series dropped into their lap and then they fell behind. People didn't want to wait for their monthly releases for this biweekly series, and the fault lies 100% with them and no one else. They own nothing, and are entitled to nothing.

At least kireicake translates a shit ton of stuff with minimal drama, and isn't totally incompetent. Can't say the same about other groups.

tl;dr

Just learn Japanese already, you losers.

Attached: 1449201866302.jpg (670x378, 63K)

>waah how dare you TL a work by this creator without getting my permissions don't you know i have monopoly on all this person's stuff?!

The most hilarious translation drama has to be that one VN where one guy dumped a machine translation by accident and the translators (which were previously releasing at snails pace, and claiming they still had a lot of work to do) dumped the whole thing too, which was entirely already finished and clearly just delayed to milk more money out of donation retards.

>"They didn't ask me for my permission to translate a porn comic that some Japanese guy made!"
It's a toddler throwing a tantrum.

>not learning japanese but keeping up with scanlator/subber drama anyway
This shit is basically trashy reality tv for weebs, how can you not like it.

Attached: 1461276310501.jpg (1455x804, 229K)

Dracu-Riot?
Pretty sure they also sold out to Sekai Project who are now sitting on the translation for who knows how long before releasing an all ages version on Steam

I think it was a Fate VN, but I'm not sure.

>I own the exclusive right to steal and translate this persons stuff into English.

Because I don't like trashy reality tv.

Imagine donating to this cuck.

I'd rather watch anime, read manga, play VNs, or fap to hentai.

This guy is good at scamming people for years.

The only reason I care is because I've seen threads on Yea Forums where people care. Usually the scanlator page of the manga is good for a quick look, but of course I'm there for the manga, not to care about some guy who likes translating stuff.
We'll have high quality translations with neural networks to do all this in the future. As with everything else, once you get humans out of the equation everything gets better.

It was. It gets posted in the /vg/ threads every once in a while, the guy was clearly clueless and kept apologizing and asking how he could delete it all, which only spurred the translator on as he raged harder and harder.

nurse sensei > gal san

prove me wrong

God I fucking hate twitter, what order am I supposed to read this in?

I'm always surprised that after all these years nobody has started a group along the lines of 'Kirei Cake's Dead Mother Scanlations' or something

>read
>twitter
you're supposed to glance over it and mash your keys in impotent rage at the first word you didn't like

Too much effort for a dumb joke.

>telling people to buy the manga when they offer to donate
ascended

It never ceases to amaze me that these fuckers genuinely think this. I've been in threads here with some of them and they just can't grasp the hypocrisy no matter how many times it's pointed out.

>porn translators think they should be treated as humans

so glad i deleted mine desu

its a trap, being unable to reply has saved me many times

I think the most important part to remember is that people read translations because they want to read the manga and not because you, the translator/person, has picked up a series.

Isnt this the same guy who put huge watermarks that literally covered the entire page and released fake/troll chapters? I hope people still remember considering Yea Forums these days are plagued by Yea Forumstards and ledditors.

When crypto makes it so that you have to pay to access crunchyroll official translations verified via blockchain we will look back on these days with nostalgia.

I certainly remember Prozess, that useless prick.

Attached: Prozess.png (368x358, 120K)

This was even before Batoto. I wish I saved some pages.

This is the only other one I saved.

Attached: prozess great work as always.png (348x254, 66K)

People are more than happy to eat shit, and if light/web novel translations have taught me anything it's that those people are happy to pay to eat that shit too.

Attached: scanlationconsumers.jpg (615x126, 21K)

>the donation button is just a redirection to buy the volume at cdjapan

do you like to be remunerated by your effort and your time invested in a work?

Attached: 1559209887175.jpg (1280x720, 130K)

>needing photoshop to edit photos
>you need to buy software

If you want to be paid for it, you go pro.

Congratulation, you're one step closer to understanding the joke.

Yeah I bet the mangaka does

The Bakidou poster buys the magazine himself and doesn't ask for anything in return. He doesn't even tripcode.

My award is getting people to discuss the manga I like.

user, the magazines are fucking dirt cheap, and tankobons aren't that expensive either.

Tankoubons are even cheaper in a way, because you get the whole book instead of a single chapter. Unless you happen to be translating half the magazine anyway, but who does that.

You know what gets me fucking mad? There are literally hundreds of great manga that have their translations dropped halfway, while nearly every shounenshit on Jump has at least 3 translation groups working on it constantly. Fuck you.

Attached: 1518135096612.png (652x624, 208K)

When I learn moonrunes, I will translate any manga you want

Anytime you need my to typeset an "ehhhhh" or "desuno" I'm your guy. But only in that context.

I don't understand why this thread was deleted yesterday.
Scanlation thread is Yea Forums

this but in comic sans only

>NaPaTa
boring vanillashit with unfappable artstyle and story tension.

this

Nope, it does cost something precious that is time and a lot of it.
You also have to deal with snipers if you're not fast enough and some members who vanish and slows you down.
Money can help people on your team to stay motivated and fullfill their deadlines.

This

but what about my sick mother

>You also have to deal with snipers
Only if your work is super shitty. I haven't seen a single sniped scanlation that didn't 100% deserve it.

Tell me what group you're with so I can snipe you.

Literally anything takes time, doesn't mean you should get paid for it

>snipers
lel
people only muscle in on a series if you're slow, incompetent or working on mainstream shounen crap and all of those are your own fault

of course
if you want to make money off of translating
then go official
if you can't go official it means you're not good enough
and if you're not good enough, it means you shouldn't be paid

>time
Yeah because they would be so productive and hard working.

most official scans are complete garbage though

am I misunderstanding the word scan in this context?

I typesetted this, criticize me

Attached: sns_016.jpg (1458x2114, 1.02M)

you forgot to center one

I mean scanlating stuff in general is wrong so I'm not sure releasing stuff for free is the "right" thing to do but if you're going to do it anyway then you really shouldn't directly profit off it.

second panel's not centered

faggot

You forgot about punctuation.
Hyphens are in the wrong lines.

Like what?

Please use a period at the end of a complete sentence.

then these groups should have absolutely no problem becoming the official translators for these series than

Tell your TL that 大人しい is not the same thing as 大人.

Mangastream

Fucking ungrateful assholes. After everything I do for you lazy EOP fucks, this is the thanks I get? Fuck all of you, I'm keeping this translations to myself.

Hope this doesn't summon him, but reminder that one of the worst spammer on this site used to be a translator, then dropped it to "defend themselves"/troll Yea Forums full-time. Be sure to read everything they say. :^)

oh, it is
ah i messed up
the tl doesn't have one so i just did that
wait you're not me

lmao

This is why you will never be an 大人 so just hurry up and 大人しいくてsit the fuck down.

otonashiku, user-san.

It's not "free" free, but it basically is. Everyone on the internet now wants free money for stuff people just as gladly did for free in the pre-Patreon era. Now, there's so many stupid fucking zoomers with parent's credit cards and no concept for the value of a dollar that if you ask for money SOMEONE will give it to you. Just look at Twitch.

I have "donations" (not e-begging though, you can only see the link in 2 chapter credits and on the site) on right now, but I haven't touched them in like 6 months cause it's a pain in the ass to transfer the money since the paypal account isn't my personal account. I only give money to other members that rip, but I rip pretty much everything by myself cause we do almost all our work from 2 mags.

Sucks that you can't get interest out of your PayPal account.

natural selection

Don't forget paying taxes and hiring payroll!

Are donations considered as taxable income by the IRS? This is important.

Attached: hLa8c1M.png (955x766, 1.2M)

not really, since you could consider it as a "personal" "gift" which isn't taxable afaik

There was some drama about people reporting streamers for not paying taxes on their twitch donations some time ago.

then do streamers pay taxes from their massive amounts of donations per day

Depends how much. I sell shit on the internet out of Canada, and I don't get to get imposition until I sell 350$ worth of stuff (when there's an invoice), so I imagine it's similar with donations in the US.

It depends on the series, montly mangas requires the least amount of work, but weekly mangas are another story, pumping out chapters consistently and also having the release fast and having all of your team on time to do this, requires a lot.

imma snipe you bitch
just give me a name

yes. Since it is technically a job I think. But this is something more an accountant can answer and a cursory google search can't provide enough info

god I hate this shit
fuck taxes

It's a robbery

"We'd just like to remind everyone that any manga artist begging you to buy their books is just scamming you out of your money.
Drawing manga costs virtually nothing to do."

all the groups with donation links and sick mothers

These guys haven't released anything in years and were notoriously slow back when they did. Tsugumomo and Rotte were held up for years until other groups sniped it.

They actually taught a monkey to use photoshop, impressive.

I don't get it. From what I understand, scanlation has always been a labor of love and things will pretty much stay that way regardless of how you feel about it.

The fact of the matter is you are literally doing it for free. You are working for absolutely ZERO monetary compensation whatsoever. This is immediately apparent from the outset and you would have to be an actual, unironic, mental invalid to not realize it. So get back to cleaning up those manga panels, you dumb goyim.

Attached: 1554621930841.jpg (850x755, 178K)

Absolutely. If scanlators were truly passionate about translating jap literature or media in any form to english, and get paid for it, they should have taken the route to make it a profession. That’s on them for not being smart enough to figure that out.

>typesetter even typesetted the note meant for him

Loli mamoritai
ESL group hogging some good* isekai like the jew loli one.

I don't have a problem in principle with scanlators getting paid for their work. If there was some manga that I desperately wanted to read to the point where I was willing to pay someone to do the translation for me, then I don't see an issue with that. You could laugh at me for caring that much about a manga in the first place and the legality of the scanlator getting paid for work on creative property that doesn't belong to him would be questionable.
But it's more the constant begging, not just on first/last pages but sometimes in the actual manga pages themselves that is annoying. And trying to guilt people with talk of sick gam gams.

But my scanlations are totally better and people should give me all their money for them!
