The entire point of the show was to pit these two ideals about justice and explore the idea that in the end, true justice is whatever we happen to apply. Like Light said, if he wins then Kira is justice, if L wins then he is justice. In the end, we all have our own versions of justice and none of them is an objective one outside our own lives
