Every time

K. Go on.

cat gets into box,gas is released
certain percentage of the cat dead or alive, won't know the result, open box, result ambiguous

I don't get it.

it's one of those jokes that you have to understand japanese culture to get, like most of nichijou

The cat is alive and dead at the same time. Get it ?
IT'S A ZOMBIE CAT !

Wow! So deep! So profound!

NO.
Cat goes in box.
Device in box and a small piece of radioactive material. Device senses atoms thrown off by material and if it detects one in its sensor, it releases a deadly gas.
Cat exists in a state of both life and death until observed.

It's always funny to see people use it as an analogy when the whole thought experiment was basically created to make no fucking sense.

Next season never, bros

Daily reminder that Japan will never forgive you if you evade taxes, but they'll act as if nothing happened if you are involved in RL child porn.
It must be

This is false. The entire point of Schrödinger's cat is that quantum superposition is distinctly different from "some probability of being alive, some probability of being dead". This is because these different possibilities can, in layman terms, interact with each other in some ways. Actual probability isn't really covered by basic quantum mechanics until you start using density matrix formalism.

Either way, some people interpret the situation as the cat being both alive and dead at the same time, not just different probability, but in some sense both states being real at the same time (or, more accurately, no state being real at all until we observe the outcome). The entire point of Schrödinger's argument was to demonstate how ridiculous this prospect was. The actual ridiculous part is trying so hard to argue the philosophy of experiments expicitly not described by the mathematical formalism; until interpretations of QM can deliver actual measurable results they're nothing but masturbation.

This. Basically, the argument is that until the cat is observed, you have to consider both states at the same time. So you would have to buy cat litter and a cat sized coffin, but the cat isn't actually in both states.

You just OUTed yourself with your double digit IQ

This, literally no one really cares about the interpretation. Just shut up and do the calculations, it just works.

>the cat is dead or alive
>Not the cat is alive in this universe and dead in another

Attached: images(3).jpg (309x163, 7K)

how do you know it's a cat?

Hearing Schrödingers Cat would kinda ruin it though.
>what's that meowing in the box?

>what's that meowing in the box?
Truck-kun.

Schrödingers Isekai

You are alive in this world and dead in an other world at the same time until truck-kun observes you.

>density matrix formalism
Uh, in English, doc?

>Do you know what 'entropy' is?

ATP not being utilised.

Of course. You see, it's like a cup of coffee. Once it spills, you can't put it back together. Ergo, you must use the energy from human emotion to pretend it's back together.

>Anime always presents it as a philosophical or psychological thought experiment about perception or parallel universes.
>Its actually a physics thought experiment about quantum mechanics meant to mock and discredit a popular theory of the time and is intended to not make any sense.

So what started this trend in anime of misusing it?

Western media also misuses it.

Examples?

You need a cheap method to fetishize the intelligence of a character while keeping it simple enough for your retarded audience to understand.

>scientist explains a wormhole by folding a piece of paper and poking a hole through it

Media in general loves to misuse the Schrödinger cat because it better showcases how oh so whacky quantum physics is.

That's a legit explanation, though. It's just a bit overused and patronizing.

Thats retarded.

An extension of basic quantum mechanics designed to solve problems where we have actual differing probabilities for events, rather than just superposition of states; i.e. problems of the sort "a system is prepared in state Phi or Psi in equal probabilities, what is the outcome of measurement of operator O?". Useful for quantum thermodynamics or any case where we have to describe incomplete quantum systems. I honestly can't put it simpler than that, it's grad-school level stuff.

I said ENGLISH, Doc!
*laugh track*

Rick and Morty.

Well Yea Forums?

Get out of here uchikoshi

That text is unreadable.

The leftover leaking from energy transformation and movement, second law,of thermodynamics implies we are getting boned because this energy can't be recovered and eventually everything will be this energy unless something in the universe is creating more energy from nothing.

QB did nothing wrong when using little girls to feed the universal thermodynamics system

What is this, an ethical dilemma for ants?

Are we using lab rats to solve these trolley problems now? Science has advanced too much

>truck-kun observes you
No thanks. I'll take the loving embrace of the deadly Japanese cold instead.

If quantum mechanics doesn't frighten you, you didn't understand it

The cat inside the truck cannot know whether you are alive or dead.

Attached: multi track drifting'.jpg (500x625, 64K)

>being scared of stuff that doesn't have any extraordinary effect on you
Doesn't matter whether you realize you are dead.
It's like being scared of thermodynamics.
Hell, there's much more reason to be afraid of that.

Quantum superposition lasts until observation, right? So if the device can sense whether the atom has split, doesn't that mean there's no superposition and the cat is either alive or dead?

bazinga

GOD I HATE THIS STUPID TROPE

Nigga please, I own that cat.

Attached: 28.png (870x1236, 416K)

This is also false. The entire point of Schrödinger's cat is "look isn't this fucking stupid? how can the cat be both alive and dead at the same time? fuck off with your quantum garbage"

>Quantum superposition lasts until observation, right? So if the device can sense whether the atom has split, doesn't that mean there's no superposition and the cat is either alive or dead?
What exactly is observation? If a human can observe a quantum state and cause its collapse, then you are right to ask if a device can. And if a device can, then why doesn't any interaction between two atoms or more count as interaction? Sorry to disappoint, but that's one of the big unanswered questions. Some interpretations of QM try to answer this (many-worlds, for example, has reasonable answers), but the "standard" (Copenhagen) interpretation doesn't have anything to say about it. Basically, we don't really know.

Huh? Are you fucking stupid? Are you trying to say that Schrödinger, one of the pioneers and main contibutors of QM, didn't believe in QM? His argument was strictly to poke fun at Copenhagen-type interpretations, not to discredit QM as a whole. Look this shit up before you post.

heres what Erwin shrodinger actually said in case anyone is curious

t.Feynman

I remember Half-Life 2 was the first reference for Schrodinger's cat I experienced. I still have nightmares about that cat

no its not really, curved spacetime doesnt have to mean its curved into another dimension

The point of it is just to indicate how retarded quantum physics is.
It's the pic related of physics, but only when observed.

Attached: httpdev.artwiseonline.compubmediacatalogproductaw9206.jpg (700x499, 27K)

I don’t think that was reference to Schrödinger’s cat.

this thread is going exactly as I planned
this thread is the box, care to guess what that makes you?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 90K)

Hellsing did a better job "explaining" Shrodinger's cat by not explaining it at all

>this thread is going exactly as I planned
It's both going with and against your plans

BTW here's a video about quantum physics and the weird shit that goes on at the atomic level.
youtube.com/watch?v=yahTYvFyv8g

Think about it logically.

Gonna need an Isekai Trolley Problem ft. Truck-kun ASAP lads

Wut?
I didn't understood anything. What does the little trident symbol even mean?
Explain nerds

I prefer "Schrodinger's Dildo". In case you didn't know, Schrodinger's Dildo goes like this; We know that OPs are always faggots. So if we put OP in a room with a Dildo, lock the door, and wait for 1 minute, the Dildo has a 100% chance of being deep inside of OP's asshole

I prefer “Rape”

You post it to avoid getting raped by a terrible Frenchman.

did Rick and Morty ever tried to look clever ? Or just to make sens ?

So alternate realities?

But also

Symbol is for wave function, which is used describe the quantum state of the system. Where the function gets it's highest values are the most probable states of the system, and states where the function is 0 that means the state isn't possible at all.

Fuck off 3DPD.

Yes. Some parts of qm were unpalatable to even the creators. Namely Einstein famously said that if quantum entanglements were true, he preferred to be a shoemaker than a physicist.
Schrodinger was on his field regarding qm, and both believed on the existence of some hidden stuff that was actually responsible of the strange stuff going on on quantum realm.
It's actually possible to help a field develop and still think it wrong. Anyone who knows something about scientific epistemology is capable of doing that, tough luck for the "shut up and do the math" kids.

Attached: 1495402489984.png (667x582, 84K)

It's a shame that nobody posted pic related yet.

Attached: WUEY0zu.png (496x545, 92K)

Entropy is not a form of energy. Claiming so would mean breaking the first law of thermodynamics in the first place. Do you even thermodynamics?

>when your most advanced physics class was in high school
it's time to use "that"

Attached: 1541677608103.png (960x540, 618K)

I don't know if you're trolling or just an idiot, so 8/10 got me mad I guess. Einstein's shoemaker quote, which is not clear if he even really ever said, was with regards to the nuclear bomb. Yes, Einstein and some others believed that QM was incomplete, and that some hidden variable theory lies underneath it. To my knowledge, Schrodinger wasn't one of them. Not to mention most of Einstein's objections have been shown to be misguided, and Bell pretty much killed the idea of a hidden variable theory. Either way, none of these people ever argued that QM was wrong or "fuck off with your quantum garbage". At worst they thought it was incomplete or had issues with common interpretations. Schrodinger's cat was strictly within this context.
I'm going to go with you being a troll since you seem to be deliberately twisting facts and quotes, so this will be your last (you) from me.

I hope you're all happy. you gave OP exactly what he wanted.

Please do

My sides

That's some creepy shit man.

The joke is cats are supposed to be pets. Science man only has the book smarts.

But why a cat ?

No? If its deadly gas then the cat is dead. Why would someone seeing it affect whether its dead or not?

why not?

I don't think you know the story behind that cat...

M-O-O-N HAHAHA THAT SPELLS MOON!

the point is the radioactive particles, which are still a source of randomness for us
assuming we'll never be able to predict radioactive particles, and the box is completely impassable (nothing can go through it at all, so no way to know what's happening inside) then in theory, both timelines are equal to the observer
it's not about what THE UNIVERSE is seeing, but what the observer sees/knows
to them, those two branches (dead and alive) are equal, and are thus bundled into one... however, the branches are not similar so there are elements in superposition to that observer
the question lies in whether our universe is constant (and thus only has one timeline, so when you open the box you just see the timeline that ended up happening), or a more simulation-like buffering state (where the decision of whether the cat is alive or dead is only made as soon as the outcome is observable and the two branches have to be unbundled)... evidence points toward the latter. hence why people care so much

Attached: b01390a256647bb79d4c921006a5a887_480.jpg (480x908, 42K)

Attached: schrodingers cat.jpg (1200x675, 116K)

>the decision of whether the cat is alive or dead is only made as soon as the outcome is observable
That's not how it works.

Well of course. Tax evasion is the worst crime a man can commit and pretending children aren't sexy is dumb.

well, it turns the simple 2 branches (alive/dead) into one gradient, but at some point an observer has to untangle these two branches, yes

Attached: 1541430704627.webm (720x404, 781K)

Except it's only meant to apply to "random" events.
Should have made it Schrödinger's Coin.
Can't tell whether it's heads or tails until you look.
Or maybe it landed on the fucking rim,
but whatever the case something happened (or nothing), you just can't predict it.
The cat dying is easy enough to predict.

well yes, i wrote "assuming we'll never be able to predict radioactive particles"
coins are predictable too, though

My IQ is too low to understand but it sounds retarded

what if we put a camera inside the box? therefore we don't need to open the box

Energy can be converted also entropy literally is a measurement of unusable energy to temperature.

a cat is fine too

There are few things funnier than the idea of people copy pasting Wikipedia quantum physic articles on a Mongolian basket weaving forum in order to impress people in their pajamas who have multiple tabs of porn open.

I found the original

Attached: 1559156772988.png (1627x1577, 501K)

Now tell me about the DATABASE

the point about opening the box is not the action of opening it but the implied observation, ie. by observing it you have forced apart the superposition

>doesn't have any extraordinary effect on you
>every "computer" (including phones, etc.) developed in the last half century uses the results of quantum mechanics
