I was wondering why a bunch of chapters are deleted on mangadex, and presumed it's this sort of translator drama. Looks like hatigarmscans's recent chapters are gone, and they have a donation button on their site.

Then I made the mistake of reading mangadex's comments and yeah, it's just translator drama. The new group admitted they just wanted to start ramble rousing.

People get angry over translators begging all the time and I'm not exactly defending it myself. Maybe they're just jewish scum, maybe they want to be able to host their own shit, maybe they prefer to break even on raw purchases, what the fuck ever, I don't particularly care. Kireicake's constant reminders are pain, even as conveniently stuck as they are in the gutters. But I'm hardly looking at facepalm as our saviors either. They stick credits over actual art and want to go around pretending they're somehow so great for doing it for free. They may not money, but they sure want you giving them the old epeen reach around and have a shitty looking credits page to remind you to do so. I didn't even know hatigarm was asking for any donations until I went to their site to track down the chapters I missed. Scanlator groups needing to vomit their personalities over their translations and across the internet is something I don't need to see either. Clicking over to the credits page and seeing some self wank meme is as much of a temporary aggravation to my self indulgent waifu manga reading as any begging for shekles. Which again, I didn't even know was going on because the actual release, which is all I give a crap about, never mentions it.

Though if I'd trusted my better judgement and just not gone looking for information, I could've remained in blissful ignorance. Not like any of this really matters. Aside from if their credits end up over art I want to crop, then fuck 'em.

Honestly at this point I enjoy Anjou more than Nagatoro. My only real gripe with it is that Seto is a little too wimpy.

Yeah. At least he's starting to change in the last 3 chapters. For like 10 chaps it was the same old behaviour like the rat-dogs - trembling 24/7 and whimpering loud as fuck.
Anjou had much better character development, very natural one and didn't need some overly dramatic scenes just for the drama sake.
Side couple is also quite fun to watch either in their own chapters or when one of them interacts with the MCs.
But all in all Seto needs to develop faster.
Especially since it's bi-weekly manga.

Anjo's got more of an actual setting and character arc going on. Nagatoro had some flashes of something interesting, and I mean outside of just kind of waiting to see if it'd get as mad as the original web stuff. Like when you get to see Nagatoro getting blindsided by how much she enjoys fucking with Senpai and then just going with it. But ultimately it's just been a typical sort of waifu fan service fantasy story. Not that Anjo isn't that as well, but despite having similar beginnings as web thing and a similar set up, it's been able to justify being a long form work a bit more. The dynamic between the introverted Seto and the outgoing Anjo and how they encouraging each other has felt like it's worked better. Having side characters to bounce off of always helps for me too. There's nothing I dislike more than a waifu story that can't commit and goes the harem route where the MC is the only guy around and all the other characters are just girls with relationships with him. Giving the hero and the heroine their own friend or two and having dynamics outside the main romance does a lot to make everything feel just a bit more fleshed out and worthwhile.

Probably not. Japan really does not like actually following through on that sort of thing. At best we won't really get any confirmation. Ultimately it's not the important to the relationship. Anjo explicitly falls for Seto because he says that, if he cared about the person, their past wouldn't matter. It doesn't have to be because she's actually an unvirgin, but just because Seto stood up to people casually judging her by saying it wouldn't matter anyway.

Seto's wimpiness comes from a lack of self esteem in his own experience and personal skill in comparison to Anjo potentially having more in this one specific area just like she does in all the other areas where she's trying to drag him out of his shell. He probably cares at least a little bit, most people do, but it's more that he's afraid he's not good enough for the super pretty, super independent Anjo and that her having previous lovers would just be another thing he couldn't quite measure up to.

At least Nagatoro has some progression, Takagi is literally 100+ chapters of the same exact thing, and on top of that you have the spin off sequel which is 80+ more chapters of the same thing but this one is somehow even worse because they're adults and have a kid yet Nishitaka still acts like a middle schooler and is afraid to even be affectionate with Takagi.

The easiest way to think about is what is the basic standard of flirting between Anjo and Seto and Nagatoro and Senpai. In the former, Anjo is constantly needling Seto to make sure this bozo realizes she's super into him and wants him to be into her. There's still some light teasing with regards to her calling him a pervert and so on, but she's constantly and explicitly trying to get him to be in a relationship with her. What's holding them back is that she's waiting for him to start initiating things and Seto is such a self hating wimp he can't believe he could possibly be with someone as cool and pretty as Anjo.

Nagatoro, on the other hand, operates on a classic "you don't actually think I l-like you, baka!?" It's of course incredibly obvious that she does, and that he likes her too, but Nagatoro is constantly saying out loud that Senpai has no chance with him and how terrible he is. This is part of the appeal of the series, to be clear, but it's easy to understand why Senpai's baseline perspective is that he has no opportunity to get with Nagatoro.

I wasn't really supporting the claim that Nagatoro "deserves" to get NTR'd, merely highlighting the big differences in the relationship dynamics in both manga. As time goes on in Nagatoro, they end up being similar in progression: outgoing flashy girl tries to get introverted glasses nerd to get out and be more active. But while Anjo is supportive, Nagatoro is combative. Anjo is quick to bolster Seto self esteem, whereas Nagatoro tries to draw it out of Senpai by really digging in to him until he starts firing back. Even as things have gotten better with their relationship, Nagatoro's basic level of interaction with Senpai is still to rag on him.

I love Anjou and the side characters, and the way the story actually progresses while still having a short episodic format. But Seto is getting annoying, I wish they would give him some character development. Is he still gonna be freaking out over indirect kisses 100 chapters from now?

Unironically Sensei and Toyo are much superior to Anjou, but Anna is perfect already except for the retarded way she wears her indoor shoes that bothers me to no end so you cannot really go wrong with the girls in this story. The short haired friend is very cute too.

But Nagatoro is far less structures most of the time with how she goes about it and really just keeps poking and insulting Paizon at every turn. Anjou will not only defend Sato when people dump on him, but there's a clearer idea of what traits she wants him to improve on and how she goes about doing so. She comes across as far more supportive and genuine than just being a sporty tsundere like Nagatoro.

Really, my biggest gripe with Anjou-san is that Seto lacks too much self confidence in relation to Anjou herself. She might as well have a neon sign on her chest saying "date me" at this point and he's still doubting himself and his place by her side. And I wish he had more of a purpose for himself since Anjou has a career goal in mind.

That's something I like in that cosplay romance series. Gojou has something he legitimately strives to improve in with his doll craft so he doesn't feel like a limp noodle of a male lead.
