Oh shit. Vetto's room is close to the room with the unknown presence. Did Anego go and fight that guy or did that guy defeat both her and Vetto? Vetto doesn't even have any bruises on him which is weird if he was defeated by fire punches. What if Revchi ended up separated from Gueldre and opened the door to "that world" at the bottom while search of treasure? He could have let out another devil or been possessed by one. There has to be a reason why Tabata brought him back into the story.

Also I made a map of the situation in the Shadow Palace up to the devil's awakening. Some characters' locations are guesses based on where they were first seen but it seems to line up nicely, except for the lone mystery presence in Reve's room at the bottom. We also have to assume that people in the hidden room were undetectable because otherwise the numbers don't match up.

This is the 1st time fights have been off screened and we're all the better for it, with people complaining this arc is lasting too long.

Rather than it not getting destroyed the interesting bit was the fact that it exists. It's apparently possible to magically enchant physical weapons with different effects. I wonder if Licht's swords were also made like that instead of being born from the grimoire? Perhaps some future enemies will be using magical weapons so that Asta will have a harder time with his anti-magic. I could see dwarf weapon smiths being able to make something like that or maybe Spade's researchers.

I thought it was cool during its first arcs when the characters didn't know what was happening and they tried to make sense of their trips to the mysterious desolate world. There was a genuine sense of mystery and danger there. Once they knew what was going on and especially when those evil generals appeared, it became a lot more mundane and forgettable.

You're talking about of your ass. Wevil said that the trident disintegrates everything it touches, not just magic. The very first thing he did with it was cutting off Lumiere's arm. The fact that it can disintegrate physical objects but didn't affect Asta's sword means that the disintegration effect is magical in nature.

Where did the trident come from? Is it a standard demon spell like the ones Vetto used? Was it created out of thin air by speaking demonic words in conjunction with word magic? Did it come from the 5-leaf grimoire? I'm kind of leaning towards it being a standard demon spell since devils are often portrayed as wielding tridents(mistakenly called pitchforks), so it wouldn't make sense for it to be something that only this particular devil has access to.

I kind of doubt he will, with the exception of the post-elf arc where the next wizard king is chosen. The captains with rare exceptions have kind of just been in the background the entire time, only showing up during the climax of the Clover saga. Perhaps some of them will show up in the Heart or Spade arcs, but I feel like Tabata would probably prioritize the captains that haven't had much or any development yet, like Kaiser and Dorothy. Nozel is one of the more fleshed out captains so he should make some room for the other ones.

I can't really see Dorothy getting much development, but who knows. Kaiser is certainly in need of screentime.

I feel like captains are pretty popular or at least could be more popular.

Why don't you see Dorothy getting much development? We know basically nothing about her except that she's a witch and that she has a very unexpected personality when awake. For all we know she could have a troubled past like Rill or some kind of a curse placed on her like Charlotte, which might explain her sleepiness. There's also her background as a witch and a very powerful one at that. What motivated her to leave her village and become a captain in Clover and how did the Witch Queen react to all of it? We didn't see the Witch Queen in action very much even though she was said to be very powerful, so when she eventually makes a comeback it might be an excuse to also include Dorothy in whatever is going on at the time.

Speaking of old characters making a return, I think Heart being described as a kingdom of water suggests that Kiato and Kahono and perhaps some other Water Temple residents might run into the Bulls there. Kiato and Kahono wanted to become performers so perhaps they went to perform to the wealthy Heart citizens or something. With the Diamond characters obviously appearing in the Diamond arc, Rades and co. appearing in the elf arc and even Revchi making a return I think it's obvious Tabata doesn't like to just discard his characters once their respective arcs are over.

I really hope we get more focus on Dorothy in the future. I wanna know her backstory. I find it hard to believe that the Witch-Queen would let someone as powerful as Dorothy leave the forest. Also, I really do wanna see how she and Kirsch interact with each other.

Ichigo really didn't do dick in the last arc, he fought the Jail man in Hueco Mundo, got trapped, then dozens of chapters later arrived in Soul Society just to get immediately rekt by the bad guy, went to the royal realm to train, came back dozens of chapters later to kinda fight with the slut squad, then the bad guys left for the royal realm, Ichigo pursued them fought the big bad and lost again until the plot and Aizen made him win.

Yeah, it's just that Dorothy is always at the sidelines, and she won't really reveal much by herself. It all depends how Tabata will write the next arcs, perhaps the Witch Queen will have a word on the matter. We still have to see how every elf'd character ends up after they cancel the resurrection, like Charlotte's curse without Charla, maybe Dorothy will stay awake now. It's certainly intriguing.

This arc has closed and developed many plot points established since the very beginning, of course it's going to be long.

So, we have a pretty good idea of what's coming next, but there's obv gonna be some inbetweens. It'll probably play out like this:

There's also the matter of the elves. Most of them are possessing humans and will need to give those bodies back but there are a handful that don't have to. Are they going to just go live in the forest or something or will they try to live in Clover? Are they going to just resign themselves to extinction and go hunt the devils or are they going to try to properly resurrect everyone? The core squad of Licht and the 3rd Eye will be back later on but who knows in what context.

The wizard king isn't elected, he's appointed. He also needs to qualify for the position by having some kind of achievements under his belt and I'd assume the support of the citizens is taken into account as well. The question is who makes that decision and to what extent can the process be fucked with? If the next wizard king is appointed by the king or the royals then someone shady like papa Silva could potentially try to get himself appointed to that position. It could actually be an interesting development if the next wizard king was someone less benevolent than Julius, but I'm sure it would draw a lot of comparisons to Naruto.

The elves still got their big flying rock to live in, and they are mostly all in GD so they can go to that base as well. I can 100% see them working to bring all the elves back once the humans get their bodies back.

The problem with that is that as we know from Luck's basically walking into the light, the human souls are quickly growing weaker and will die unless the reincarnation magic is dispelled. On the other hand it takes a long time to build bodies for the souls to inhabit, which is why Sally only made like 3 of them and Fana and Vetto's were still incomplete. The elves would need to find a way to keep their souls in limbo through demon magic long enough for Sally to mass produce baby bodies for them to inhabit. If that actually ends up happening then I bet it's going to be through some kind of a deus ex machina, like using every last bit of the magic stones' power to accomplish it.

While I agree that there were things he probably should've explored a bit more, Lumiere's involvement helps bring closure to the entire Clover saga. We got the giant demon and the hero who saved the day and established the magic emperor system facing off against the mastermind that made it all happen.

Chances are Julius became the wizard king for a reason. Either the previous one died or was too old to continue or did something dumb and was discharged.

The Wizard King doesn't need to be what keeps the story going. Tabata can take advantage of perhaps Wevil as the main point to keep it going for future arcs. I personally think it's a good idea that FWK is being dealt right now becuase if he were to have had his appareance in the last arc for instance, it would be way too uninspired. So I think it's good that we'rr dealing with jim now, he's probably gonna finally rest in piece after this, Wevil could escape, and Asta will be the next person tasked with dealing with that troublemaker, giving him a reason to chase Wevil.

There's no point in repeating the same pattern with a different race. The manipulated elves and their human henchmen were the antagonists of the Clover arc. Diamond already has Morris and his generals as the next set of enemies. Spade has been shown to be hostile towards Clover so the entire kingdom could be an enemy for all we know. Heart is the only one where the antagonist isn't clear from the get go but I'm sure something will pop up once the arc actually happens.

And the connection to dwarfes is Charmy, her backstory is most likely going yo be covered in the next few arcs. Remember that Charmy is about 20 years old, her parents should still be alive somewhere.

This seems like the end of the first major saga and a lot of the primary foreshadowing Tabata has laid. It could end soon, but the Clover Kingdom isn't the only kingdom, especially give that the Diamond Kingdom's Morris (the guy who experimented on Mars, Landros, and Fana) will take advantage of the fact that the Clover Kingdom lacks a true leader.

We also haven't seen the Heart and Spade Kingdoms, along with the fact that there is probably a lot more demons.

One piece

Everything we've seen so far is only one saga composed of nine different arcs. It's the story of the elves and the first wizard king making it the elf saga. We're barely reaching the climax. After this saga, we're mist likely entering a new one, and Tabata has already foreshadowed what the next arcs might be about.

I'm betting Morris is the next big bad guy.

Considering that the second horn and the larger spread of anti-magic through his body are gone, as well as the fact that Yuno’s crown and the ring around his wrist are back to their normal sizes, it seems that the changes to Black Form and Spirit Dive in chapter 197 aren’t permanent power ups, but levels to the same ability, like going from Super Saiyan 1 to Super Saiyan 2.

It's a bit late for that since he's already not a normal dude. He's the only person we know of who has no magic at all and also has what is basically the most special grimoire in existence in that it's not magical in nature. My theory is that he's somehow tied to the devils. It's too big of a coincidence that a magicless child would show up at a place where the closest grimoire tower was the one holding the unique anti-magic grimoire which could only be used by someone without magic. Not to mention he was also accompanied by the reincarnation of the elf tribe's leader's son who just happened to be carrying a(or the?) magic stone that the word devil needed to complete his master plan. And let's not forget that Yuno and Asta's births along with all the other ones happened at just the right time so that the reincarnated elves would be able to possess human bodies that matched them pretty much perfectly. Asta being born with the traits that he has at that specific time and place is clearly no accident. His name being similar to the name of one of the more commonly used demons in fiction, Astaroth, is also suspicious, especially since he's the perfect host body for the anti-magic devil who has already expressed his desire to possess him.

The MC of a battle shounen not being special would be a novel concept and refreshing in such a repetitive genre, but it doesn't look like that's what Tabata is going for here. I'd argue that explaining away all the things I outlined above as merely one gigantic coincidence would be worse writing than just making Asta a literal chosen one.
