It's basically all the masterful Hunter x Hunter structuring and complexity we've seen across the various arcs rolled into one.

Looking at the beginning of the Dark Continent arc, I’m now deeply conviced HxH is built like a Möbius ribbon, and we are now, and we’re starting, more than a new arc, a new cycle. Look at the main four. They at the exact place they started. But their situations and motivations have turned, just like they have reached again the starting point on a cycle, but on the other “side” of the ribbon.

The Dark Continent itself can be the mirror of the Chimera Ants arc, a confrontation between different sentient species, where the humans take the role of the first Chimeras, the invadors trying to survive.

One of these days I'm going to further simplify it by splitting everything up into separate documents for easier reference.

It's hard to keep everything straight but I really enjoy all the scenes with Kurapika and the other princes.

So many strategies, sub-plots ... It's hard to get everything but it's thrilling. I want to know how Kurapika will outsmart people around him, I want to know more about Bateman prince and what will be his next move.

What confuses me the most is the mechanic with the queens and their guards. It's one thing to have the princes and their staff, but then the queens and their guards-as-spies get thrown in. Add to that the fact that some queens are the mothers of multiple princes. I love HxH a lot, but this is a mess.

what does it mean to have good "worldbuilding"? because i made it to the skypeia arc of one piece before dropping it because the story and character (arcs) are so bland, yet its renowned for its "worldbuilding". all i encountered was different islands with different people on them and i didn't particularly care about any of them.

people say there's "interconnectedness" between the various factions and islands and stuff in one piece but so what? greed island was introduced and dropped and we have no sense of greed island being a "living and breathing world" after that arc, but why should i care? what gon and killua did there served its purpose and then we moved onto much different and better things.
