The mc is not a horny dog who can't control his libido anymore like vol 1. If anything the author will have some aftersex description on the last vol and that's it. That's how old shounen ends ie Dragon Ball, Bleach, Naruto. None of them is shown to have sex on screen.

Issei is a boring faggot that the narrative goes out of its way to tell you is nothing special for the first several chapters and then spends the rest of the story shoving convenient power-ups and bullshit down his throat, with every woman in the world falling for him because he's the nicest man to have ever existed and does super nice things for everyone without ever asking for anything in return. Won't even get into the fact that he's an inherently boring protagonist because he doesn't care about anything other than women so anything resembling world building or giving the characters further depth outside of their assigned novel never happens. And then there's the fact that, despite being an idiot, he somehow manages to always make both the morally and strategically correct choice 99% of the time.

I've read bad LNs, I've read worse WNs, but DxD is the only one where I can say I have legitimate contempt for the protagonist because he's a black hole that sucks in anything resembling an introducing concept in the series, never to be seen again or reference.

Given that the latter half of the series turns into shounen the author clearly wanted to switch genre but couldn't commit to it entirely since he would lose a portion of fanbase. You would notice the increase of male characters and their illustrations.
