Shueisha doesn't make all of its money from magazine sales. In fact, the profit in magazines and print paper is probably relatively small because there is a lot of competition in that front. Just compare production costs vs. store price. Manga is pretty cheap. Anime and product licenses probably make more, since they are money upfront.

So a manga doesn't just have to sell magazines. The editors want to find intellectual properties capable of selling new anime seasons and videogames if possible. And while Soma is still profitable, a new anime season hasn't been announced, and it kinda gets in the way of Shueisha finding the next HeroAca or Kimetsu.

There was nothing wrong with Soma's mom as a character. Her intro just had the misfortune of being dumped in the middle of a trasheap of an arc.

I will never understand why author disliked his own series so much. One thing is losing professional consult support, another is to crash the storyline so hard. Erina Papa could have been handled better, heck I didn’t see much trouble until the reveal of Souma father. From that point author hyped the father so much, I expected a twist like another competitive school overseas, but it turns out his actions were childish and from then is just free fall in story quality.

Sorina is such an asspull ending. Makes less sense than most shounen pairings and that’s saying something.

There’s still no clear cut confirmation that Erina has feelings for Souma or vice-versa.

I honestly also like Erinas mom and her undressing burst is a good joke, but it's so obvious the author just is dry out of idea's, the fact that we're at least 5 "oh it's like we're in a Manga" jokes proves that.
I'm still kinda enjoying it but in a "it's so bad it's good" kinda way, which is very sad.

The final scene will be Erina acknowledging Souma's skill with them smiling and proabab;y nodding at each other with some background monologue in a close up face shot panel or something, and that's it.

What other sidekicks? Even if Megumi went somewhere else, her screen time wouldn’t have gone to Hisako or Alice or Dog cause Tsukuda doesn’t give a flying fuck about them. The filler does have benefits of actually explaining some relevant stuff better, like giving context to a trio of novel characters that suddenly become relevant in the main plot, but otherwise the manga's much more efficient because it wastes little time on bullshit to get to the fights faster.

Some would argue that characterization suffers as a result of that, but to each their own. BC doesn't really push the envelope either way.

An attempt was finally made to detail each challenger's dish and they threw in some backstory for Mana, Azami, and Soumom. That's a decent lot of something compared to the upcoming rush job that will be Soma vs. Erina.

I think like most shounen pairings they just want to gloat their “win” over the losing side and want their favorite girl to get a happy ending, but there’s no one to gloat over since majority of Megumifags don’t care. If not any of those two reasons then I guess they just love their 30mins of conversation in the entire manga.

The mangaka did question whether he should have Sorina or Somegu, so I guess even Tsukuda ain't loyal. It is what it is though. Probably neither will win though.

Every reader hates Asahi, but he proceeds to let him off the hook story wise despite kidnapping a person.

People remember stagiaire fondly, in no small part because it was essentially the last time Souma grew as a character. I can't blame the villains (Azami and Asahi) for Souma's character. They did exactly what they were supposed to do and provided him with incredible challenges to overcome. The fact that he did so without growing as a person at all is staggeringly bad writing.

They pretty clearly got word sometime during the third preliminary in the 209s that they'd been cancelled and everything after that was rushed to wrap up the tournament and get to Souma vs Asahi with sufficient time left to do it right.

The diner is Souma's defining motivation and always will be. It's beautiful and consistent so how could anyone not ship it?

Early SnS sold good and did well because it was well-written. Sure Soma and Erina were more important story-wise being the MC and heroine, but they alone could never carry the manga. The manga succeeded at one point due to the overall story that included many characters hence why sales were at the peak during the Stagiaire Arc which focused on different characters. These chapters are pretty short and usually devoid of content. Expect a Bleach ending of disappointment. Though, Bleach's epilogue was 2 chapters so expect worse.

Kuga was the only reason I stuck with this manga during the Azami arc. I tried to read Hermano arc several times, but just couldn't stay for more than a couple of chapters. I want to see my boy one last time, but yeah it's probably wishful thinking.
