If you want to jump to where the anime left off, start with Arc 4. I strongly advise you to start with user's interlude (the part you start with) because his doesn't skip the Natsuki Rem chapter like Translation Chicken (which is canon by the way). Translation Chicken's translations are higher quality and more polished than user's but he hasn't finished Arc 4 like user has. Start with user's interlude, then switch to Translation Chicken or just keep with user's like I do. Also user's translation gets way better the farther into the Arc because I guess they were learning as they went.

Judges can determine if certain evidence or testimony is relevant to a case. Jury might have never heard it.

When my sister testified the prosecutor used the fact that her examination by a doctor after me being arrested right afterwards for killing the pedo determined that "no sexual acts had taken place" and that bruises sustained to her arms and head were from the "physical altercation before the stabbing had occurred due to disagreement over drugs" or however they worded it, when those were given to her while he was trying to pin her down to rape her.

The judge also refused to subpoena the girl that was paid by the pedo so we were not able to get her to testify and then have my defense lawyer cross examine her.

The testimony of my sister's friend who had the text messages (as evidence) proving the other girl was paid to send my sister to the pedo's house was deemed irrelevant to the case, but was still showed to the jury. The judge simply said that the jury should ignore her testimony.

After my sister testified, the prosecutor cross examined her well enough that he made the point of "well you can't prove anything sexual happened and you admit you were there for drugs".

I was 20 at the time, and my morals left me at the time feeling pretty guilty about it all. I never felt remorse for protecting my sister, but I did for killing the guy. For days I'd just sit around realizing that I had ended someone's life, someone I didn't even know or had seen before then.

Part of me couldn't imagine why someone would lure a random 14 year old girl to their house to harm them, and that same emotion had me reflect on me killing someone who was completely foreign to me.

These lamenting emotions caused me to apathetic to it all. I just more wanted the trial and everything to be over more then anything as it was taking a drain on my mother, and especially my sister. I just wanted my sister to get back to school and forget about everything that happened and live her life.

The justice system is a fickle thing, and I accept im just one of those horror stories that got into the worst of it.

I'd be more mad if my prison time was worse, but from everything I'd seen, read, and heard about prison, I don't think I had a very hard time. Most crimes over 10 years, you don't get to start in minimum, so I went to medium, and did 3 years there.

I simply told people I killed a pedo trying to rape my sister, and I got fucked by the court, and most people didn't give me hard time, or just left me alone. I took the advice from my father to not give my food up EVER (he did 5 years for tax fraud before I was born), and it worked out. After those 3 years I went to minimum for 5 years where I got into manga from my cellmate.
