Shikinami focused more on Eva training, and instead of going to college she became a captain in the European Air Force (not really sure how).
She is more introverted than Soryu, who always wanted to be center of attention by contrast, and while Soryu wouldn't be caught dead owning one, Shikinami talks to herself using a hand puppet when alone, implying she has a different messed up backstory.

Her anger spurs aren't out of shyness, she genuinely hates Shinji for being a weak willed little shit and the only reason she's obsessed with his affection is because of her own complex and inability to accept losing to a doll.
