Hajime no Ippo 1263

hni-scantrad.com/eng/lel/?manga=Hajime no Ippo&chapter=Chapter 1263#page=1

New chapter is out. This time Ippo goes through massive character developement after realizing insted of getting hit he should be punching his opponents. Of course he doesnt think Coach did anything wrong.

>HOLY SHIT I HAVE ANOTHER ARM
It reminds me of HOLY SHIT I HAVE LEGS from mha.

The coach is a saint and never did anything wrong

How do you get this far while being this retarded

YAMATO DAMASHII

>coach why didn't you tell me I can use my other arm to punch my opponent

>chapter 1263

holy fuck what

1. oxygen
2. punch harder
3. 4. ????
5. PROFIT

>i'd tell the brat to punch with him both hands, but he is too stupid to work with complicated strategies

Attached: 141583.jpg (225x350, 30K)

look at the top of his head

>kimura is the only one catching onto the fact that Ippo is about to implode and throw himself at the ring again
>instead of giving any advice he just tells the guy to fuck off

and the series is barely halfway through

>I know why I lost
>Why ippo? Was it because you would just walk into punches with barely any guard?
>No.
>Was it your complete lack of footwork?
>No.
>Was it the way you ignored every single technique you had been taught and try to force out a dempsey roll every match?
>No.
>Then what?
>I tried to DODGE TOO MUCH and forgot that I can jab with my other arm.

I'm speechless. Has Georgey-boy fucking lost it? Ippo lost because he tried to dodge too much when his opponent went on the offensive instead of punching even more?

Attached: 20190529_085230.png (896x1300, 967K)

>my strategy was always dodge and then..
huh? when does he ever dodge? he is always using that peekaboo style for defense

>It's also foreshadowing that he's going to "upgrade" the dempsey roll again.

Fucking hell Ippo.

>i forgot i had a left hand
BRUH

Ippo (dos brazos)

>my strategy was always dodge and then..

When ippo? When would you try to dodge? In your last several matches you would literally throw away all your dodging and block and just walk in a straight line at your opponent letting them sock you so you could get a hit in. Where the fuck was this dodging?

Oh god, he's misremembering things. Maybe he really does have brain damage afterall.

>I didn't realize I could use my left like that.
Well, for starters you ain't left-handed, and for seconds you ain't a counter type either.

He's not talking about throwing a heavy hit or a counter, he's talking about throwing out a few jabs (and ippo has some hard hitting jabs if I remember right) when the opponent tries to go on the offensive. Doing this would help keep ippo on the offensive by scaring the opponent into backing off and help him regain control of the match's rhythm. Its not a bad idea and is pretty basic, but it and dodging too much were certainly not the reasons Ippo lost.

Just shows how trash coach is if he can't even tell the Ippo to use his old and more effective fighting style.

>as long as it works!
probably his train of thought

>coach didn't teach me wrong, he actually taught me right and it's my fault for forgetting

This is rationalization of an abused wife.

This is depressing
On multiple levels

Damn, what a terrible coach.

I'm not sure what Ippo means. He lost because he somehow forgot how to jab with his left during official matches and somehow his coach never picked up on this? Does he want to train as a south paw now?

punch harder

He's saying he would frequently let his opponents set the tempo and control the momentum of the fight by trying to dodge whenever they went on the offensive instead of throwing out a couple of quick jabs to pressure his opponents and regain control. He kept looking for those big hard hits with his dominant arm and forgot to use his jabs. Basically he's saying he was running away whenever his opponent would come at him. This is all of course bullshit, ippo was literally walking directly into his opponents fists the last couple of fights.

>Punch harder kid! Harder and more frequently!*

10/10 story progression right there.

you've gotta be kidding

not even close. the left was just a means to put on the pressure. Ippo's bemoaning the fact that he's a reactionary fighter and not a pro-active one.

>C'MON KID, STICK TO THE BASICS
2 years later
>COACH I FORGOT TO STICK TO THE BASICS

Stop upgrading that hack move everyone knows a way to block now. Get a new one.

How come there are anons here that dont understand why ippo needs his Left?
Like cmon we have been reading a boxing manga for more that 1000 chapters and you all still dont know shit about boxing

IPPO NOW THAT YOU'VE COME TO THIS CONCLUSION I'VE GOT NO CHOICE BUT TO TEACH YOU THE ULTIMATE TECHNIQUE, JABBING!

>and you all still dont know shit about boxing
Neither does Kamogawa.

everybody here understands why he needs his left, the thing is ippo and kamogawa dont or didnt for the past 600 chapters

legit question: has anyone actually noticed that he stopped using his left before this and/or do we have to re-read everything to confirm this?

he used it against Karasawa, it was the reason he won the fight

>blocking your opponents fists with your face until their hands are hurt too much to keep punching is not the winning strategy

wtf bros

underrated

He did forget it by when he fought the oriental champs

Yes, everyone noticed how Ippo's strategies completely devolved into "eat punches until dempsey roll connects". We've been complaining about it for a long time now.

why wont this die already

This will only die after Ippo becomes a potato

The jab is the most basic and my opinion, the most varied punch in boxing. A jab can blind the opponent, halt their momentum, set up another shot, be a scoring shot, measure distance, jab then slip or move, and be a damaging shot. The first punch any coach will show you is the jab and literally the first combination that any coach will teach you is a 1-2, jab-straight. There are no world class boxers that don't have a jab and many world class boxers control matches with their jabs.

The stupidest part about all this is of the main boxers at the gym Ippo is the only one to not use a jab. Kimura, Aoki, Itagaki, and especially Takamura have had to use the jab and trained their jabs so its mystifying that no one in the gym noticed that of the 5 main boxers there, 1 of them wasn't jabbing.

On the other hand ever since winning the Japanese title, Ippo's run of opponents have actually been pretty bad so its no wonder he wandered away from the jab.

it'll die with morikawa

I say the same thing about detective conan

HOLY SHIT I HAVE TOES.

And that's his advice. To not follow that trail of thought.
Realistically speaking, even if he goes back to the ring his chances of success are minimal. He didn't have it for the world stage. He can easily become Japanese champion again, but there's no reason to think he would go far beyond that, even if he did learn that he has two arms now.
Of course, there's going to be an asspull and he'll get there, but in Kimura's shoes I'd also rather not have him fighting again.

Kek doble.
The chart has to be updated. I wouldn't put Ippo dos brazos too high, though, at least not right now. I'd call his current state Ippo (dos brazos - retirado), below his oxygen states; and once he comes back to fight with both arms (we all know he will) I'd call his new state Ippo (dos brazos con guantes) and rank him really high, because we also know he'll be really strong.

Wasn't it a whole thing at the beginning how powerful he was even with his left jabs? Or my memory is as screwed as Ippo's?

So, would you guys like ippo to become an outboxer?

I hope he doesn't use his return to box as an excuse to avoid telling Kumi his feelings. It would be really cheap. He should tell her that he loves her, but that he also loves boxing and he needs to try again; then she can decide whether if she will support him or if it's too much.

Shouldn't he fight midgets to pull that off? His range has always been shit.

I knew he wasn't going to blame coach.
I knew that wasn't going to be the solution
I knew it was coming
But it's STILL retarded.

George is a second and has coach bias

He doesn't have to directly blame coach, just acknowledge he isn't an absolute being incapable of being wrong, and start thinking in the ring for himself.
Not ever happening though.

But see that the thing. He doesn't even do that.
Ippo said HE was the problem.
HE WAS AT FAULT
And his solution isn't even that fucking big in the grand scheme of things. He thinks bringing back his jabs will fix the fact he uses his face as a wall hoping it breaks his opponents' fists

And coach should trust Ippo enough to give him other strategies than rush in, get hit and hope for the best. As much of a dick Marron was, he actually came up with a good strategy with Iga and it would have worked if Mashiba didn't power up during the match

That'a why marron wanted ippo so badly, he saw ippo as the perfect vessel and dumbass to execute his strategies with. He is unironically wasted on the coach who despite being nicer contributes fuckall to ippo's fights.

Outboxers tend to be tall, rangy guys with good footwork to remain on the outside

Ippo is none of these

just go down a few weight classes

Yeah, just tell these athletes who are already in peak condition, dehydrated and starved, that they need to lose 6 pounds to move down 2 weight classes. 99% of boxers when they change weight division move up, hardly anyone ever moves down and is successful.

i'm not seriously saying Ippo will or should go down a class, but since he doesnt have to worry about weight control at all he should be able to do it easily

But at the very least the jab should reduce the head block usage a lot.

Let me tell you a story

Attached: 1508597316211.png (1432x2958, 1.32M)

But the core problem is still there, the coach. Yeah he'll tackle maybe one flaw, but then he'll just rely on the coach again when that fix doesn't help him

The problem with dropping too far down in weight is that they might not fully recover when the fight actually happens. Boxers have talked about lack of power, lack of proper rest, and inability to take damage from being dehydrated and weighing in less 24 hours beforehand.

Brainlets are like "O MY OTHER HAND"
I'm over here as a fighting genius saying "Any fucking idiot knows that hitting them before they can get anything off is superior to taking a defensive action first."

Ippo is still a jackass and the Coach should have fucking benched his ass until he figured out basic logic.

>HE USES BOTH ARMS, HE'S THE WORST MATCH-UP FOR THE BOY

Really makes you think today.

Funny that so many years passed after this was created and now Ippo addresses that he neglected his left, the same left that is missing in this picture.

weight control is like fucking cheating the system though. They deserve to get fucked up during the match if they have to starve themselves to "weigh" the amount they're supposed to for the weight class they're fighting in.

Takamura is a legit case though because he's a whale in a pond in his natural weight class

sure, and these things have been addressed in the manga numerous times, but by the series logic going ippo shouldnt be too hurt by going down a class or two since he literally doesnt need to worry about his weight at all

Ippo is already a featherweight. He ain't going lower.

now THAT'S foreshadowing, Oda and Togashi can suck a dick

damn...

I like this one

A jab used offensively opens up all sorts of punches and angles. Start at 2:12 and watch how the jab leads to the right hook, right upper, and body shot jabs
youtube.com/watch?v=hws-4eDDchw

You say that but when hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars can be made, fuck honor drain me to welterweight and let me balloon back up so I have the physical advantage.

Takamura is a legit 160lb that walks around 190~ and a case could be made that his first world title at 154 was because he weight bullied Bryan Hawk

Attached: 1512360492753.png (2500x1975, 3.72M)

Yeah but what else was he supposed to do?
Other 190 lbs boxers didn't really exist in Japan for him to get a foothold in that weight class.
Now that he's going up weight classes he can fight more naturally closer opponents.

Takamura's walking around weight is 198. Bryan Hawk doesn't train for his fights so that means he's naturally at or near 154 walking around weight means that in that Takamura had a massive weight and size advantage.

Saw a fight the other day where the japanese boxer lost since he kept trying to throw his right the whole time
Sometimes manga reflects reality

Fight in America. Legit no joke and having the team move to America to fight and train out of Dankichi's gym would open up so many new storylines. America is where boxers go to box. We have so many foreign boxers coming to America to fight it's more weird for a world class fighter to NOT want to fight in America. Anthony Joshua right now is making his American debut this week. Ito just lost his title last weekend to Herring in America but at least he fought here.

Ryota Murata was fighting in the US for exposure until he lost to Rob Brant and Rob right now is making a massive payday by making Murata cough up the dough to schedule their rematch in Japan.

Ito vs Herring. Ito is not that good and actually he should be thanking Herring for taking the belt and sparing him a beatdown from Berchelt.

I'M ONLY HUMAN
AFTER ALL

Takamura is too stubborn or stupid to live in America.

But he could fight there. Foreign fighters often train at home then break camp to go to America for the final few weeks of camp, fight, then leave. But I know this is a manga and George suffers nippon insecurities about America as all other Japs do so every fight has to be in Japan.

This is so stupid, if a boxer does something wrong the coach is supposed to say something, not stay quiet, get your boxer mentally retarded till he has an epiphany.

Coach Kamogawa is terrible.
News at 11

maybe he took Ippo as his role model

Even when Kamogawa realizes why Ippo is getting his ass kicked, he for some reason thinks he shouldn't give him advice because Ippo is too stupid to understand it or should figure it out himself. The coach is an utter hack

My problem isn't that he realized he needs to jab more, its that he thinks he was dodging too much when he should have been jabbing. When in his last 3 losses was he doing a bunch of dodging? He was letting himself be a punching bag through those loses because he kept walking directly into his opponents with minimal guard until the bell would ring. He definitely needs to jab more, but what he needs to cut back on is letting his opponent beat the crap out of him so he can force an opening for a big telegraphed right swing. Thats why the world class boxers kept kicking his ass.

This might be the wors page on the entire fucking manga. Even if the retarded coach did teach him that initally he was sure ncie enough to indulge him and motivate to continue in eternal self destructive retardation, fuck the coach fuck the author fuck this manga.

Wha tth eufck.

I JUST DIDN'T LISTEN TO THE COACH ENOUGH, I DIDN'T TRULY PROVE HIS BOXING CAN WORK IN THE WORLD

I think its more about Ippo letting his opponents decide the pace of the match, he usually starts well with his dodging but doesnt take the offensive and ends up losing his rhythm while waiting for an opening for a bigger hit.

Didn't Ippo jab a fuck bunch with his left against Woli? And that was how he managed to asspull out with O MY JABS WITH THE STRENGTH OF STRAIGHTS!?

He also won against Karasawa with only left jabs.

Woli is more recent and higher profile though.

Do you think Kamogawa was nervous that Ippo might have realized that he's a shitty coach when Ippo first started talking about why he lost?
