user, the plot is very hard to piece together, especially if you don't get the references. But if you do, you understand it's a beautiful metaphor and a great show, unique in its genre.

I see. Is there a reason it's two seasons beyond that they weren't able to run it continuously for two cours? eg. does the first season have some sort of minor closure or is it all just treated as one narrative and you have to wait for the payoffs and resolutions in the second season?

How so? It’s certainly the most enjoyment I got out of watching any anime. I’ll argue that the beginning episodes weren’t bad at all, and actually get better and click into place once you know everything. VN was better tho
