>start reading Toriko >love every single aspect of it, the worldbuilding, the hotbloodness and food porn >find out everyone only remembers it as that series that had a crossover with both Dragon Ball and One Piece and the anime adaptation still managed to become a flopped product >mfw I find out that before Toei's anime the series had a 2 episode OVA made by fucking Ufotable >the series could had an adaptation on par with Fate/Zero and Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works but Shueisha kikes chose to give the series to Toei so they would make a series to fill the saturday morning timeslot with censorship on par with 4kids
Is there any other series that had it's shit fucked up as hard as Toriko did?
Toriko is unironically one of the best series to ever grace Jump. The end was pretty bad but it's not it's fault. Easily top 10 if not 5. It's a shame that like nobody fucking reads it
I imagine that most people that had the first contact with the series through the anime and disliked it never bothered giving the manga a try. Which is something I can understand by myself, I see many people praising World Trigger's manga but I hated the anime so much I never bothered reading it and probably never will. First impressions truly are everything.
Literally the closest thing to One piece. The manga could have been saved with >Komatse being less ugly >More waifus Yeah, the manga didnt need it but it would have saved it from being cancelled
Samuel Phillips
This series was pretty gay. Komatsu should have been a girl.
Jackson Ortiz
Toei took World Trigger's biggest flaws (lackluster character design and molasses pacing) and magnified them fourfold. I don't blame you at all.
Adrian Watson
One Piece is the same thing.
There's a One Piece OVA from 97 or 98 by Madhouse which animation-wise looks lightyears ahead of the Toei anime 99% of the time.
Kevin Martinez
Once they got to the gourmet world shit got crazy way too fast
Blake Hall
That's more cause Toei runs a sweatshop that hyperfocuses on making sure they have weekly airings every week for at least 2 anime and 2 tokusatsu because of TV air time deals. When they don't do that they make shit like Transformers the movie
Zachary Wright
isn't the mangaka a pedophile?
Justin Gray
She was 16 bro and oda bailed him out so it's all cool
Bentley Lee
I remember, user. I remember.
Noah Thomas
Toriko peaked in the Century Soup arc, it was downhill after that, then peaked again with unchained Jirou.
Angel Cook
Isn't the whole point of his character that the audience needs a ugly midget to self-insert into? Especially when the ugly midget is not the MC
Benjamin Sanchez
Komatsu got a nosejob after the timeskip
Liam Miller
Toriko was fun. It gets completely absurd in the final arc, and that was cool, but I liked the earliest comfy travel and cooking arcs before they got into the whole world-destroying menaces.
Jacob Hall
Say what you want about the overall ending but the wedding chapter is easily top tier closure chapter
Anthony Hill
Toriko was eating-kino.
I used to get delicious food then watch more delicious food.
It's a miracle I'm not morbidly obese or diabetic
Cameron Ross
And also had the most badly animated first episode I've ever seen in my entire life. Most anime at least wait until they're in mid-cour to get THAT fucking bad and give a extra attention to the first episode, but what Toei did with World Trigger was like going into a job interview wearing only your underwear.
Justin Jackson
This The pacing after Century Soup got RELLY weird. It stabilized somewhat in the Food Appreciation training arc, but then kind of went all over the place again until the Cooking Festival, which sadly went tits up before we could actually see the chefs do something. Then Gourmet World happened and fucking the pacing was like a super ball in a bounce castle. The Beast Kings were fucking legit though
Everybody read it. We all hoped it would be part of the big 3 with Fairytail after it was clear Naruto and Bleach were ending. I must say that the anime sucks though. They should've blitzed through the start since there are quite a few auto-wins and low tension moments at the beginning while they're explaining things.
Levi Edwards
Isn't the age of consent notably lower than that. Why would there be any trouble, let alone a need for bail?
Nathaniel Wright
Different prefectures have their own laws about age of consent, 13 years old is not the actual age of consent in pretty much the entire country.
Carson Murphy
They stretched a page in the manga that takes about 5 seconds to gloss over into a two-minute long ordeal. Because nothing says "Please watch this show" quite like a board meeting with minimal dialogue and slow ass shots. This is why I sort of feel for the fans of Black Clover since they also got an adaptation that didn't put their series in the best light in its first few episodes, and now everyone memes on it the moment it's mentioned anywhere. It's probably not as horrible a series as a lot of people make it out to be but I'm still not compelled to give it a chance.
I heard 14, but 16 is pretty common world wide. It's 16 here in Australia. Though it turns out a surprisingly large percentage of teachers intentionally misinform the populace on moral grounds.
Aaron White
It's one of my favorite series and whenever I rec it to people they usually pass it up.
Elijah Sullivan
Apparently BC has a filler in the fucking third episode. And since it is made by the studio that single-handedly made filler episodes infamous(Pierrot) I guess it couldn't be different.
Juan Richardson
I think it's cause he paid her.
Kayden Gonzalez
>Is there any other series that had it's shit fucked up as hard as Toriko did? Any series being done by netflix >Looks at Godzilla anime movies >Looks at Kengan Asura >Looks at Death Note
Jacob Sullivan
Kengan isn't out yet S-surely it won't be that bad
Elijah Hall
Was it just a couple of scenes of filler or an entire arc? WT's filler bits were at least kind of cute but its dedicated filler arc was a complete insult to the main series.
Jacob Flores
Saiki Kusuo is getting a Netflix original Season 3 and I really hope it won't be shit.
The Godzilla anime was okay, just completely nihilistic.
The scene with Gidorah and the space station made EVERYTHING worth it though, holy fucking shit.
"A-are we already dead?!"
Angel Rivera
Black Clover.
Ethan Evans
>It's a shame that like nobody fucking reads it Jump was the biggest issue stopping people from reading it. Normally people don't care about this, but they were pushing it way way too hard as a new part of the "Big 3" and everybody could see how obvious they were being about it. The anime and Toei crossovers just made it worse.
Kevin Miller
>drops the series right before the final boss showdown Thanks Toei
The ending was some of the most fun, hype train dumb fun I've ever seen in a manga. I personally loved it.
Juan Mitchell
Not really, the CG was fucking awful. Like even worse than the Kengan CGI, at least they don't look like near featureless mannequins. And don't even get me started on how stuttery and unnatural the movements were.
Gavin Long
The final arc with the actual final boss came right after him and Shinsetsu was a sequel so it doesn't really count.
Christian Wilson
Am I wrong or did the anime end with Toriko going super saying 3 or some shit?
Jason Nguyen
just saw the Kengan teaser, if at least they take full advantage of the CGI to animate the fights like the Ultraman anime did it might be somewhat ok
Mason Rodriguez
yes, it was the gayest transformation in the history of shonen
John White
Remember when they drank the monkey ball soup and turned into girls haha
wouldn't it be funny if they kissed then haha
Jace Kelly
>Toriko is unironically one of the best series to ever grace Jump. Don't even JOKE like that.
Lincoln Evans
used to get high, grab some food and watch the anime good times
Nathan Brooks
>all of the final arc fights >the Eight Kings team fighting NEO >plot armor as an actual power >GOD actually beating up everyone trying to eat it >Toriko punching Acacia across the whole world >Midora being a fucking badass until the end >fucking Zonge secretly helping I miss it so fucking much, it did power creep right by making everyone a planet buster.
I tried reading WT the other day and dear god is the pacing slow as shit. Its hard just getting through a chapter and you're telling me the anime is even worse?
yeah Toei still loves to adapt manga in the same fashion they did with DBZ back in the day, by stretching the canon material as much as they can so the series can run for as long as possible. Honestly I can't even tell if that is better or worse than Pierrot's filler blobs.
Leo Cruz
Lads I want to convince a friend to read Toriko. What are your favorite panels I can show him?
Hudson Smith
I suppose it depends on what aspect you want to highlight.
The manga's biggest highlights are its strategy-heavy team battles and the way it handles its MC's development, but you need to make it past Chapter 20 to even get a taste of the good stuff and most people aren't willing to sit around and wait that long. Now imagine having to sit through around 7 hours of boring, janky Toei footage to get to that point instead of just binging those chapters in an hour our two. Because that's what I did and I really fucking regret it.
I unironically loved Toriko. Was keeping up with the manga when it was still releasing weekly and read it all the way to the final chapter. I didn't really watch the anime, but seeing some of the fight scenes animated was pretty cool.
Jason Smith
>find out everyone only remembers it as that series that had a crossover with both Dragon Ball and One Piece and the anime adaptation still managed to become a flopped product
Wrong. Toriko is beloved all over the world and the world laments its departure.
Lincoln Sanders
>Toriko's shirt didn't explode when he turned into a woman in the Pair arc.
Asher Ross
then at least Toei should have ended the anime with a cliffhanger instead of making an original ending in case there's still demand for a sequel.
Christopher Rogers
There's a pretty big drop in quality after they make it to the Gourmet world
Isaac Mitchell
Toei fucked it up in every way imaginable, I suspect they're the reason it was forced to end on a rush.
Tyler Martin
Toei's anime was wonderful. Everything with "Toriko" on it is.
William Rivera
SPACE ARC!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Brown
kek Toriko is One Piece done right, and after the time-skip we see literally Toriko going from one island to the other, undoing the wrongdoing, and it was 100 times more entertaining even with such formulaic setting here another insecure heterosexual Komatsu by the end of the manga was a grow-ass CHAD Wrong, Bambina arc was peak Toriko. Where else can you find a latest arc so immaginative? I mean a fucking ape, who sleep in space, almost kills all the protagonists just trying to play with them. Plus he lives on a high gravity cliff, he play stone skipping with freaking mountains and the juice of his balls can change the gender of people!!! Surely One Piece is the blandest shit if compared to Toriko, especially if we compare it withe the most recent arcs. The problems started after this arc, where Shimabukuro started butchering entire arcs in few pages, and even if this was the case, the last fight was simply amazing. Exactly, and Neo is one of the best main villains ever. Naruto and FMA slipped into the final easy trope of the "Muh I'm God", while Neo is the perfect final antagonist due to being the physical presence of the "hungriness", the total opposite of everything it was showed in the manga until that moment. The anime needs a remake. It happened for HxH, so why can't it happen for Toriko?
There was a point where it went downhill very fast. I blame the awful movie.
Zachary Torres
I read it up to the end of the first arc when it started serializing. I simply couldn't continue because I was just so turned off by Shimabukuro'a art.
Levi Reed
Because it wasn't about the age, he was charged with paying for prostitution, which is illegal in Japan
Robert Green
Other than the rushed pacing in some parts and the lack of focus on food tasting near the end, i have no problem with Toriko. It was great. The Gourmet pyramid one is great
>lack of focus on food tasting near the end This, fuck, I wanted to know how God tasted like.
Nathaniel Ramirez
BC is actually better then every Toei production being aired right now. Hell it was better then the best eps of DBS and OP. Even better voice acted. And that's...that's saying something.
