It's called Urban fantasy. It's pretty cool.

Why not just have a knight in an actual medieval setting,WITHOUT isekaishit, any video game tropes or magic. Just fucking knights. how hard can it be?

You mean native isekai?

Discuss it with yourself, Yea Forums.

This is doubly retarded because isekai is associated with dumb rpg tropes, so he would be requesting standard fantasy. Incidentally, I would love a swords & sorcery Frazetta-inspired fantasy anime, but that's unlikely to be profitable in 2019.

isekai exists because thinking is hard and its easy to write a fantasy if you dont have to think about how someone who lives in a fantasy world would act and think.

would full plate even stop a parapellum

>current modern era
>with Medieval Knight/Warrior aesthetics
FF15

What if it was a shounen like how Madoka started out but quickly turned gruesome and twisted and became a modern era Berserk?

>cool looking fantasy anime
>immediately notice it had MMO stat elements in it
OHOHO NO NO NO NO

>modern setting
I'm guessing it would be shounen shit.

you dont even understand what the native isekai meme is about you mentally impaired ape

Do you want actual sword battles, shootouts in plate armor, or something like Don Quixote?

Outdated firearms, but you get the idea.

To be frank I'd die to see a show that had Madoka's elements (darker theme, stop motion animation for the monsters, magic power premise) but with a dude that can transform into Knight armor as the MC and a supporting cast that wasn't limited to girls only. But little girl suffering gets the dosh

My issue with Isekai, or "native Isekai" is how often their worlds operate on game mechanics.

Like, you can't really "quantify" stuff like how close a person is to dying, or just how physically exhausted they are. But games attempt to do so for, well, gameplay reasons.

But in a story, I don't really think that a scene's tension benefits from an MC constantly talking about how many health or mana points they have left.

They also tend to treat "monsters" like walking EXP, or item drops. But once you treat mythical creatures like an everyday occurrence that are easily dispatched, they really aren't monsters anymore. The fantastical ceases to be fantastical.

Are you wanting something like Kamen Rider with a Dark Souls theme? Sorry kiddo that's not where the minmax ez bux are at, that's isekai MMO anime.

>Are you wanting something like Kamen Rider with a Dark Souls theme?
Wouldn't that just be the first season of Garo? (The toku, not the anime)

>foreigner autist who may have been in 15-16th century knight goes to japan and becomes a fencing instructor in a japanese school
>very chivarious and popular but is completely oblivious to his autist ways
>always wears a knight helm and talks in a knightly manner
>is rivals with a busty kendo instructor who has a love rival with one of his students

DE GOZARU

I want a show about knights set as a stageplay, combining the serious Japanese attitude about theater with the goofy prop shenanigans of MP&tHoly Grail

"The Daily Lives of High School Knights"

> show takes place in the future
> characters wear futuristic armor based on medieval designs
This is something I'd actually like to see a lot

I mean all you need to do is have some girls in the MC's cast and you're good to go

It is pretty cool. It's quite rare unfortunately.

>Berserk themes x Urobuchi's Madoka worldbuilding
I know at first glance it sounds cringe but god damn I need it in my life.

this guy gets it

Space knights?
Space knights sounds fun

precisely why grimgar is good

How modern are we talking about? It's impractical in the setting with guns, no?

Not that improbable in a really high-tech setting.
Maybe one can actually train/manufacture super-solders who can take on a hundred people and win, akin to the medieval knight.
A compact "army" of these people wouldn't be a logistical nightmare, which is also a huge bonus.

Not really, all you need are energy weapons or some form of scifi material that's light, strong, and able to reliably block
/deflect bullets. Didn't Legend of the Galactic Heroes do this with space suits?

It's not really modern, though. It's futuristic as fuck.

LotGH is, sure. Everything before that could work in a modern day setting with maybe a tweak or two. The materials thing could happen without anything else, just some material engineering eureka moment, for example. Some breakthrough in battery tech 20-30 years before the start of the story would be enough change for power armor and laser guns without changing the rest of an otherwise modern setting too terribly much.
