Why the hell is English grammar so fucking hard and complicated? What takes me less than 5 minutes to read (in Japanese) takes about 3-4 hours to translate. "Have made" would mean up to that point in the text, "am making" would mean in the whole text as you're currently writing it, and "made" means in the whole text except the meta part which is implied to have been written last.

It's not an issue for the readers at all if your english is bad as long as they can roughly tell what you meant. Just when bubbles start to make no sense at all, people will start complaining. Any point before that, good or bad, is irrelevant.

Read novels, OP. As an ESL, after a while it clicks and it becomes second nature. You'll notice right away when something is horribly written.
My problem is when I try to translate back to my language and there's no simple word with the same meaning and I have to use a whole phrase to say the same thing.

The writing system makes it easier. Even if the spelling is a nightmare. The similar words to Spanish/French also make it easier. Half of the English words I know by intuition.
I think the only similar word in Japanese to Spanish/Portuguese is pan for bread.
I'm currently editing a 25-page doujin and it's taking a few hours. Funny when it only took me 15 minutes for a transcript + translation.
Getting an editor and throwing a couple of translations everyday sounds ideal, but I don't like the idea of working with others especially if I can't pay them, since I don't get paid for it as well.
