My theory is that no one other than Miki were really interested in an adaptation of the remaining OT novels. Most parties wanted to jump onto NT, since that's what what would net the greatest profit for all parties involved. Miki was seemingly the only one who was adamant that the remaining OT novels get adapted first. So this was seemingly the compromise.

Subsequently, though, as a result of Index III being greenlit, it seems the Dengeki Bunko hastily tried to capitalize on it by selling discounted sets of the OT novels?

Could NT be better? I dunno. Maybe, but I don't have much faith. Index adaptations have steadily decreased in quality since the start with the exception of Railgun S. Some people say that such a decrease doesn't exist, but I can't agree with that. Overall, the quality of the animation itself was better in Index I. That quality decreased a bit in Index II and it's at its absolute lowest in Index III.

I actually want her to win the One Way Bowl but Kamachi is dead set on making Mikoto his endgame. And she already got rejected nonetheless.

Well, Therestina was mentioned once in NT4, but I dunno. Thing is most of the characters in the spin-offs were first introduced in the novels. On the other hand, many of the characters introduced in the spin-offs first have no reason to ever run into Touma, and since the majority of the novels focus on him, that gives relatively few openings. Spin-offs generally focus on Academy City, and while Touma is at the center of Aleister's plan and also probably spent more time with Aleister than anyone in the series so far, he doesn't really get involved much with the city's darkness.

Index S1 had good animation. Not the best out there, but it's miles above Index III. Just getting back to that quality is the minimum fans of this series deserve.

Lets be honest, its dogshit, the pacing is awful, the fights are lazy as fuck for accelerator, it retcons the black wing moment into just "its where they appeared again but for longer" not "its his first big problem where he goes beyond his limits and awakens his hidden power".
The supporting cast is crap, the clones only exist as damsels for the MC to rescue but since the MC has to stay overpowered they have to nerf him one way or another in order to drag the conclusion of the arc out needlessly, thats why the first arc took fucking 48 chapters to end.

I can see the accel x LO doujins being made and translated already.

It's because for some reason they decided to make the character designs too detailed, which is biting them in the ass because it means characters just look off model most of the time and animate worse. More pudgy and simplistic designs like in S1 animate way better.

Railgun S is arguably the pinnacle, but we can't hope for that again.

Worked fine for Railgun S, there was only a few instances of being off model.

I really doubt they will put any real effort into the animation, if anything you will have half a minute of good stuff in 6 or so episodes and they will not even be at the best moments.

No one seems to have as much passion for Index as they did for Railgun S.

Thats because it featured a lot of accel, soon they will make a sakuga accelerator season out of the crappy manga.

Tbf, the age of highscool harem shows is basically over, its the isekai age now.
The only way they can get new people into this show is by either rebooting it or by giving such a stellar anime that people will be interested enough to watch all previous episodes, but at this point that would require OPM^6-tier animation, so they wont bother, instead they will do the bare minimum and sell it.

It's way more difficult for little gain just to have more marketable screenshots. Unless you're Kyoani you can't afford to keep the quality consistent with detailed designs and have to make do by conserving your animators for the most important scenes. And Railgun S's character animations are still stiffer than in Index 1. I prefer expressive animation in my anime much more over good looking still frames.

Not even OPM itself is getting great animation, it's very mediocre in fact. It's quite clear that JS staff just can't keep up with the demand of having to produce so many shows.

reminder that Kamachi The Hack had a perfect opportunity to turn Fiamma into an MC after Touma saved him in WW3. Fiamma is everything Kamachi ever wanted in an MC, and here's why:

-He was actually destined to save the world as evident by HR being his since birth

-He could reasltically serve as the moral compass for the plot unlike Touma considering he's the son of god and is above angels in stature

-His physical appeal far exceeds Toumas generic MC-pre-Isekai look and would clearly be more fitting in terms of attracting females.

-He can see the bigger picture and will take the necessary responsibility of eliminating evil unlike Touma who can only hope to redeem everything.

-While his beautiful appearance and uncontrollable charisma is more than capable of attracting everyone, men or men, he would also not allow average thots like Mikoto and Lessar to perform unholy acts like flipping skirts and forcing pre-premarital dating on him

-Finally, unlike IB, Holy Right is a tool that can convincingly beat every villain that he'd encounter without having the reader restore to a ridiculous amounts of suspension of disbelief. No matter how you look at this, Fiamma beating Accelerator, Izzard, Othinus and even Coronzon would have been symbolically and thematically poetic considering that Christianity is the one faith that changed the world the most.

I write this as I hope from the depths of believing heart that Fiamma would come back one day and would reclaim his role as the Jesus of the modern world

I can not tell if the problems are because they are not letting the animators have enough time to do all the work on a show or too many shows means that the quality of the average animator on the show isn't high enough.

In order for a New Testament adaptation, or any show at all, to be good, you really need the following factors:
1) Directors and animators who have affection for the work in question and a strong drive to do it well.
2) A more sensible deadline, unlike what Index III got
3) For the company to not have a dozen different projects going on at once

If they were on the verge of bankruptcy they would be laying off staff and taking fewer jobs. If they expanded and needed to cover those expansion costs they would take on more projects. Another studio could have closed down and they took their jobs.

The small amount of crazy fans (us) who talk about anime online might know the name of a production studio or people who created a show but the average viewer has no clue so they couldn't lose faith beyond not liking a show. If the companies that hire the production company think you will do a bad job that could become a problem. With Index III and OPM the concerns were about getting something out as the show had gone too long without having animated works. So from the companies who commissioned the show JC staff got the show out which was what they were hired to do.

Yes I think they can although Mikoto doesn't know Kakine and has never met him, so they shouldn't have any issues with each other but of course this is Kakine we are talking about. I don't think Mikoto and Mugino have seen each other since the Sisters Arc and Mikoto and Accelerator only briefly came into contact with each other once but we know from NT 22 that she still holds some negative feelings towards him and Accelerator doesn't seem to care either way about her.

Accelerator and Mugino don't really have any issues with each other and they have a civil relationship with each other.

But it's probably Kakine and Accelerator that has the most issues with each other. Which I think they can work out but it depends if Kamachi decides to go down the redemption route for Kakine but he might have felt like he's done that with Beetle 05 who is Kakine, at least a version of him. So maybe original Kakine isn't meant for redemption, maybe we won't even see him again.

Mugino and Kakine would definitely throw everything at each other immediately on sight. Mikoto and Mugino may not hate each other to that level but railgun implied that she disliked her and was salty enough to abandon her security role to chase after her until she figured out the sisters project. Also, I feel like Mikoto has a lot of things to say about Accel but Kamachi is sort of keeping their problems hidden for now cause Touma links them together.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Measure Heart and Kakine are meme votes. Othinus seems like she'd be popular, but considering she hasn't appeared in the anime yet, it's strange that she'd be above Touma. Generally, manga/novel-only characters don't get as many votes as major characters that appeared in an animated adaptation.

Index really is somewhat popular among the 11s though, she usually places right next to Othinus on the Kono Sugoi polls. They probably just legitimately forgot to vote for her. Which is honestly even more amusing
