Ayeka wanted to chase after him immediately, but couldn't leave for a few years because reasons, so she froze herself(and also Sasami who'd stowed away) so that she would look as close as she could to the way she did when Yosho left.
When they unfroze in episode 2, she started aging again normally. So by the time that Kenshi was in 5th grade or so, Sasami was about to graduate High School.

Yes, but if they hadne't been frozen for 700 years, they would have aged and matured and ended up looking something closer to their mother instead a a young and late teen.
And Ayeka considered that completely unacceptable.
From birth a Jurian ages the same as an Earth human, then once they reach full adulthood at like 25 or so, their aging halts because of Tree Magic.
Other people like the Kuramitsus can get something done that does roughly the same thing, but I recall it's fairly expensive. That's why Mihoshi's Great Aunt looks like this.

I can't be sure how much of this I'm making up at this point, because I don't have anything to back it up, but the way I understand it, she was engaged and her fiance ran off with one of her friends, so with that on top of the stress from her job, she blew her brains out, but they put her back together.
That's why Misao was so pissed at Tenchi that he brought a Death Star, he was afraid that there would be a repeat of that.
I don't quite understand why she wears the ribbon, but it's some bit of medical tech that keeps her old personality locked away.

I kinda wish this guy would clean up the narrative a bit, make it a little clearer, rewrite a bit of the beginning to take the modern mythos into account and do a new animated series. The most recent OVA series were just too fucking jarring. They honestly clashed with the older OVAs and just kinda shoved too many characters and too much information onto us at once. The crazy guy who blew up half the Earth and sliced Tenchi in half, Ayeka and Sasami's mom being the anti-Christ, Tenchi being super-god, Ryoko randomly developing maternal instincts, it was all too fucking weird and excessive. What the fuck was even going on there? There was a severe lack of coherency or consistency and the tone especially was just way too fucking jarring.

I'm not saying that I want the original OVAs to be retconned. In fact, they were definitely better than the more recent ones and GXP. Oh wait, also, GXP was also a problem because I don't really understand what the point of it was. Suddenly, Tenchi can consciously control his powers or whatever? Did I miss something? I'm guessing GXP takes place after the more recent OVAs.

Basically this series is a clusterfuck and desperately needs cleaning up. What the fuck was going on with Kagato?

So Washu's best friend(and only before her husband), was Akria Naja, a girl a few years older than her and almost her intellectual equal.
Akira was the one that pushed Washu and Mikumo together, and helped her reach her son after they were separated.
Something happened, I'm not sure what, and Akira died. At the same time in the same place, Seto was born. The details of this are still fuzzy, but somewhere in the GXP novels.
Washu couldn't deal with losing her husband. son, and her best friend, so she tried to clone Akira.
This resulted in an imperfect clone, Washu named Kagato, who was for some reason, a hermaphrodite.
Something about Washu pissed Kagato off to no end, to the point that out of spite for her after Kagato had imprisoned her and stole Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki, he split from his female half and abandoned her on a planet.
Then she found Noike's mother and got attached. But no one wants a single mother, so she went to Dr. Clay, an old nemesis of Washu and Akira from the Academy, and had him regress the girl back to infant, and she left her at an orphanage.
However, the regression split Kagato YET AGAIN, resulting in Noike and the little white haired girl. Also Clay is an egomaniac and put his stamp on every one of Noike's cells, which prevented the two halves from refusing.

So Noike came from F!Kagato, who split from Herm!Kagato, who was a clone of Naja, who was reborn as Seto.
Which is why Seto decided that some cop was a perfect match for her great great grandson.

I don't blame you for being confused, only about half of this is in OVA3.

Almost none of that was in the OVA. It's just bad fucking storytelling.

It's Kajishima doing the best he can while the studio only lets him make more Tenchi every decade and tries to screw him over.

He should find a better studio then. The original OVAs were the only good ones. Most of everything that came after was drivel. The two-cour series wasn't that bad, but it was a little more generic and had a ton of filler. The show that took place in Tokyo was really bad because its basis was souring Tenshi's relationship with the other girls from the start and inserting a new girl that he becomes enamored with, and thus it really fucks up Tenchi and Aeka in particular because all their actions are fueled by jealousy (though I do admit that it somewhat improved their relationship with each other compared to what was shown before). I think there were like three movies, but I have no idea where any of them fit in the continuity and honestly they're kind of a blur to me. One was kinda interesting, the one where Tenchi was kidnapped by Yosho's old flame; it had a really interesting premise and the general story was unique, but at the same time it wasn't quite what I really wanted out of Tenchi. Never saw Pretty Sammy. GXP has some good points, some bad points and overall was an okay series but, eh. The most recent OVAs (I say "recent" even though they're old as fuck by now) were the biggest shitshow.

I only ever liked Tenchi Universe because it was easier to follow
