The music is mostly trash, except for the vocal tracks
Most of the backgrounds are shit, too colorfull and simple for Berserk
The story is censored, no donovan and some deaths are less violent (Gambino for example)

Um, if you don't like it already at episode 8, I would cut your losses. It's stays pretty similar. Its been a few years now since I last watched it, but I still remember it pretty well. It's really good. Go read the manga up until the golden age arc is over, then come back and re-watch. it will make you appreciate it a lot more. Sure, it's dated for the time, but that adds to its charm.

The anime being amazing is 100% a meme. It was a majority of people's introduction to Beserk and nostalgia colors it beyond what it deserves. It's not terrible, and it's not great either. You're better off reading the manga.

Just read the manga up to the end of Golden Age arc like every normal person did. Everything after that is directionless mess with tons of weird shit and lolis lewds so you can just pretend that the manga ended there
