So what's the general consensus on Sharp? I'm about 17 episodes in and so far, I like it but I also have some problems. For me, the strongest aspect of the first season were exploring the daily lives of Doremi and everyone around her. The magic was an important and fun part but it always felt like more of an amplifier than an interesting concept on its own. And I feel like the show kind of understood this. The Witch Exams were always hyped up but they would always only take up half an episode (a lot of the time, even less).
Sharp on the other hand, has Hana's Health Exams which I find completely uninteresting. The Witch Exams had more tension to them and would sometimes help build the Witch World. Hana's Exams are always the same characters, in the same area, doing the same uninteresting shit. And I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this if it was like the Witch Exams which only took up part of an episode. The Witch Exams would also often tie into the overall theme of an episode which gave them purpose. The episodes with Hana's exams are just Hana's exams and nothing else.
I figured that there will be an exam for every month that they'll have Hana. So at this rate, we're going to have 12 episodes (almost a forth of the season) take up this season. And this doesn't include episodes that are almost entirely focused on Hana. Those episodes aren't nearly as uninteresting as the exams but they still aren't the best the series has to offer.
Like I said at the beginning of this ramble, I still like this season. Pretty much all of the episodes besides the Hana Exams are extremely enjoyable and carry the same appeal as the first season.
So does the show do anything to make the later exams more interesting? Or will I just not enjoy 25% of this season?

The exams themselves aren't ever particularly good so I don't think that'll get any better for you. Exam type episodes are part of the structure of each season to set up some payoff at the end, and they'll be around for the rest of the series. I see your problem with them but i always found them important because it shows the growth of Hana over time and the whole season is about raising her. I won't say the exams themselves are that important but the more time spent with Hana makes the ending have more weight and helps explore the overall theme of the difficulties raising a child.
