It's a short one but Renjou Desperado comes to mind. There's probably a few others here and there. Though "serious" vs comedy shouldn't matter. They're talking about the setting and not the premise. Though collecting the seven dragon balls (keys) in space isn't anything new either. Nothing about this stands out to me. Probably why I can't force myself to read past the first chapter.

Star players from my country either go to Europe or Japan for retirement money because they both pay well. Every time our team goes to Japan their stadiums are absolutely packed. They may not have a stellar track record, but they do put their back into supporting it

One lasted two tankonbons (ie canceled), the other one was made by Hiroyuki Kikuta (the mangaka for Ganba Fly High), which managed to last 7 volumes
