She never "warms up" to Shinji. She's more of a tease and attention whore. She doesn't really care about Shinji, but she's bothered that her womanhood on display doesn't make him lust for her like it works on other boys, and so feeds into her complexes.

Rebuild 2 Asuka is a stock/typical Tsundere, but that was the point, to make you realize "This isn't really Asuka".
