Because they barely exist? The only one I would fit in this category is Franken Fran, and even then I don't know if comfy would be the right word.

Huh, I just finished the manga last week coincidentally. It was really comfy. Every cliche and generic plot and character you can cram into a series, but has it's own character despite that.
I'm not sure I'd actually call it horror, it mostly just parodies horror cliches and then does it's own thing.

I do wish there was more like it.

The closest thing I can think of is Mushishi.

A very soft-spoken and mellow series, that happens to deal with somber and horrifying scenarios every now and then.

wait what doesn't work with manga. what's the sauce?

>frankenfran comfy
I tried reading it once after people told me it was a charming dark comedy, but that wasn't the vibe I got from it at all. That shit reveled in its shock-value twists.

what a nice 3.6% comfy manga page

Because what OP wants is SOL with characters based on horror archetypes, not actual horror.

What I liked about Mushi was that they could be frightening and dangerous but never really in a malicious or villainous way.

They're just a natural phenomena like bacteria that fits into the balance of the world but don't always coincide well with humans.

Check Kuro, pretty comfy but it's more mystery than horror

Princess resurrection is best.

Just watch Ghost Stories again.

I had a soft spot for Ghost Hound, despite the rushed ending, simply because of its atmosphere.

because the ending was complete shit

No mention of Dorohedoro?

For Shame.

Wasn't there a sequel?
What happened with that, dead, hiatus, no translation or was fake?

Mieruko is comfy.

It's been many years since I finished reading the series, but wasn't the ending pretty complete?

It's not really parodying generic cliches, most of the time it explicitly parodies and references specific works in horror and sci fi genres. It's just that it's absolutely lost on average Yea Forums audience, most of the time I see it discussed people don't even get really obvious stuff like picture related.

You're nor wrong, but at this point most of the specific references have become generic cliches
I'd say "Here's Johnny" is a cliche and the painting would be a specific reference, for example.

Found 5 chapter translated but looks more like side-story than sequel, still reading tho

>Are you okay!?
>Are you okay, Annie?
