What is so unique about kubo's art? Even after so many years, he still remains the best weekly shounen artist off all time. Nobody can match him when it come to pure asthetic and appealing art.
Also post your favourite colour spreads and panels from the manga.
I'm a different user, but what does Kishimoto's cluttered backgrounds have to do with Kubo?

The backgrounds in samurai 8 are really hit or miss. The ones like the middle panel on this page don't do it for me, it looks messy because of the lack of depth. But things like the double page spread a few pages later look amazing. However, I guess it isn't just the backgrounds for me; all the art in the manga so far has been hit or miss
literally the first page is drawn better than all of S8 did Kubo have assistants at all? would be nice to see somebody with a similar art style in WSJ.
Takehito Inoue in Slam Dunk is probably better, but Kubo is definitely one of the best.
It's the shading and the proportions. He makes everything, characters and backgrounds, look more real, not cartoonish, but the style still don't look a realistic one either, so it's a perfect equilibrum. You can see it in this video, only with a few strokes and shading, the characters look so three-dimensional: youtube.com/watch?v=rxdKjmiAQOE
>Ulquiorra was a literal representation of nihilism >Mocks materialistic desires and says how futile they are as a means to keep living. >Gets defeated by those same desires turning into a mindless monster, showing him the importance of them and changing his outlook on humans. >The page is ulquiorra (utter emptiness) or what he thought he was with his last conscious thoughts being about the same desires he reject before ironically turning into nothing. >One of the best character growths in manga >The culmination of said growth so perfect that a single world on a white page is enough to convey the emotion perfectly in a visual medium. Kubo is a misunderstood genius.
I dont want to give the guy shit, but he has been working ill for years.

>ill for years. And? That doesn't justify tracing. Especially when you only work for 2 and a half month every year.

For some reason the furigana makes the empty page extra hilarious

Can't wait to see his designs in action in the upcoming Sakura Wars game

inferiority complex combined with e-celebs and Crunchyroll shilling it

Too bad he’s better at drawing than writing; I had gotten used to disappointment by the time the 1,000 Blood War Arc started.

Not a Kubo fan, never actually read any of his stuff but knew of him because of course. But I was sort of threw of guard when he became character designer for Shin Sakura Taisen, my favourite VN series. At first I wasn't really up for it mostly because I'm stupid old man and I love Fujishima Kousuke's character designs but slowly over the time I'm actually starting to like his Sakura Taisen ilustrations a bit. Would love an artbook of his work for Shin Sakura Taisen (maybe a timely release with the game coming out this fall? would be nice) so I could really appreciate his art.
While I do believe that over time I'll learn to truly like his Shin Sakura Taisen art, well, I'm probably never getting over that the new game will be in full CG environment and not text-based box with character's illustrations at the top.
