there was no metric fuckton of damage. being "dead" does not do damage(unless it's long enough for decay to begin), the cause of your death does.

Hisoka died via asphyxiation from being buried in bodies, and those bodies took the brunt of the explosions so he himself was relatively whole and intact.

His nen, with it's ability to expand and contract, was used to get his heart beating manually(a technique real ER doctors actually use on people who have flatlined) to revive himself .


I doubt he was ever actually braindead, his vitals were just too weak to be detected via pulse or breath. there has been real life cases of someone being declared "dead" only to wake up a day or two later as in fact their vitals were simply too weak to detect at the time.
