He didn't leave a beloved iconic impact in the show and basically left the series doing the same thing he was infamous for doing since his debut and at the end of part 1. Pissing everyone off and leaving a sour bitter acquired taste.
I feel he's going to be a main example on how not to write a shonen rival for generations and his fans have all bit gone extinct since no one but die hard Naruto fans appreciate what he does for this series.
He's lost all his cool factor(to Naruto memetically), all of his style and ambition, and has the most hated marriage in shonen since Goku and Chichi. I guess what I am saying is, how would you had want to fix things if you had to rewrite the series again and fix all the problems that his character was in during the story, including how likable and how relatable he was developed.
