It's a shame that the movie's rival character didn't really have any true 'trick' to his fight. Kirito just fought him again and wanted it REAL HARD with a minimum of training. Sure, he rips out his chip, but even then Kirito was drawing even with him.

He was fighting a man who could fucking wall-jump and had spider-sense, and he wasn't losing. (I kind of wish that Eikchi or whatever his name was had joined in with the final battle against the boss.)

The ED is decent because Kajiura actually managed to control LiSA's shrieks.

Pretty much every main arc except the first one had a "girl nearly gets raped/killed" scene, because Kawahara grew up on what's basically the Japanese equivalent of pulp fiction, where that sort of setup is standard.
Personally, I find it more notable for him to outright state this was a problem and that he no longer does this in his stories anymore (SAO was written nearly a decade before it was even published)
Didn't think Japanese writers cared all that much for PC shit.

If you're writing a wish fulfillment self-insert sort of story like this where the everyman protagonist gets whisked away to another world where he can be an overpowered hero and marry a perfect girl and save everybody then it really fucks up that whole thing when you have that girl get kidnapped and graphically molested by a psychopath
That's a fundamental genre fiction formula mistake on the level of writing a mystery novel and then never revealing who the killer actually was
It makes it so that the tone of SAO is all over the place, too, although I think some people like that, you never know if this episode's going to be a light-hearted fairy-tale-like story about learning the true meaning of friendship or a brutal gorefest with graphic scenes of sexual assault and severed limbs flying everywhere, it kind of keeps it interesting
