It's adherence to a perfectly consistent and logical power system.
The way the story and nen system compounds on itself in each arc, and long-form over the course of the whole story. Every detail in HunterxHunter serves a purpose in the scene it is introduced, as well as another scene down the line. This multiplicity allows for the convergence of many pieces of setup for truly legendary climaxes.
In other words, it has the best structure of any story I've ever experienced.
HxH is the antithesis of the episodic story, and that's what I value most. On top of having the best structure, it's great at intriguing you with paradox, and communicating all of its ideas with perfect clarity. There isn't a single detail that seems hazy, and you're always completely confident that you know what's going on.
God, I love this thing. Could talk about it for hours.

Togashi displays an excellent understanding of the human condition in this show. Especially in CA. I don't hear this to describe CA alot, but I think the early part of the arc is horror done best in anime

The concept of humanity being replaced by a greater species is scary.

I remember reading Henry Kissniger’s ‘On China‘ and in the first or second chapter he was describing how China, in a bid to stop Western European Colonialism during the the age of exploration, gave every Western European state that would visit the same trade/diplomatic benefits to not only stop further colonialism but to play them off each other in a bid to get the a better position. In the latest chapters Kurapika’s plan is similar, in giving all the princes(associates) Nen it creates a standstill which makes it harder for one party to gain an advantage but allows Kurapika to further his goal of surviving the trip. This makes me realize that Togashi must have a wide scope of knowledge, that is ever expanding, so he’ll always have something interesting to pull from even if it takes time for releases.

I like how things don't always turn out perfectly like in other stories. The group of friends isn't always together, the MC doesn't always win or is the best at something, stuff like Gon never even seeing the King in Chimera Ant instead of them fighting. Close to how things would go in real life.

With the world, what struck me the most my first viewing was how it looks like a shounen for kids

But throughout the story, shows just how deadly such a fantastic world would be. Furthermore, death is treated in casual nature.
For me, it's a really cool juxtaposition between light and dark.

I only read HxH because it is legitimately mind-stimulating. Like described, to attain a quality like this and weave it so effortlessly into your own writing speaks magnitudes about Togashi's real world experience, knowledge, and attentive mind.

Killua is legitimately badly written and the only major weak point this series has. Almost every instance of bad writing HxH arguably has goes back to him some way or another, it's also blatantly clear through his background that Togashi didn't fully plan out Nen as a concept from the start.
