Was it really that big during its time? Nowadays it feels like a forgotten classic that not even people new to the medium bother to watch.

Attached: 0669198208829.jpg (495x500, 54K)

It was basically anime MLP. I had to deal with that cancer on almost every fucking board.

Yes, it was popular as fuck

season 3 next year, screencap this.

>classic
lurk moar and try to develop a brain of your own

sadly it does feel forgotten now despite being actually great. Was one of my first anime and I'll always remember it introducing me to so many tropes that I didn't understand at the time but look back on now. Good times

Everything was forgettable... Except yuki

Attached: yuki_swimsuits1.jpg (992x1324, 303K)

For whatever reason, I never really heard of it when it came out, even though I learned after that it was a big deal. Lucky Star was everywhere but Haruhi seemed to have certain kind of niche.

Thing I hate the most is lack of conclusion.

I just watched through the haruhi tv anime for the first time. Maybe it's because modern anime has absorbed things from haruhi but I did not find it very impressive. To your point op, I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone who is new to anime. I have to assume it was a cult following that developed strongly when it aired.

Broadcast or Chronological order?
S1 or S2?
Disappearance?

The conclusion is Haruhi gets mating-pressed and impregnated

Just imagine cutting off a slice of those hams

I know.
I just want to see it animated.

I watched the 2006 series then the 2009 series, I haven't seen the movie yet so I cast no judgement upon it.

Broadcast or chronological???

I come back to Yea Forums once in a while and all of a sudden Haruhi is "forgotten". Is this a joke? It feels like the world is all fucked.

You are incapable of understanding just how big it was if you weren't there for it.

Everyone saw this, but I don't see why anyone liked it. I was on Yea Forums at the time, but apparently Yea Forums was fucking terrible during its airing.
>dude god is a japanese highschooler isn't that cool?
>lol look at those time travel tits
>gay psychic guy
>Look, a Rei-like character!
Obviously, it's not that interesting.

Why zoomers don't like haruhi?

It was hueg during it's time, the way it died out due to the way it was managed and personal events was weird to see.

I have to assume chrono.

You watch it for Kyon.

Attached: 1234047566439.jpg (640x1800, 348K)

Yeah, that makes the impact of the show much lower.

Attached: 1477817897279.jpg (642x1107, 100K)

Standards change over time and there's been a ton of god like protagonists in anime/manga in recent time to the point where it's practically its own genre.

Though I refuse to consider Lain "god" since that's a grotesque simplification, was it even compared to SEL at the time?

Attached: Lain Distortion.gif (500x388, 236K)

I'm as surprised as you, I can't think of anything else that went from being so big to being barely remembered in such a short time. It affected me too, I even started to read the LN but I didn't bother to look for the last one that got hiatused into oblivion.

>not even people new to the medium bother to watch
I feel like people new to the medium barely watch anything other than recommendations from the streaming service they use.

>that not even people new to the medium bother to watch.
Except Haruhi got me into anime a couple years ago, faggot.

haruhisky is an absolute legend

He is amazing.
I hope S3 has him doing the character design.

It's still seems to be an essential that a lot of people watch as an entryway. Just not a massive sensation.

Forgot the image.

>Kyon gets to do this every night.
Is Kyon luckiest man in all of anime?

Attached: sample-7aad3754246a28ba8c75d53f487e17f1.jpg (707x999, 102K)

Yes, even just being around her would be great

Endless was such a shit tour i had to drop it. Too bad bc the part with actual plot progression and mystery were fun. Do i have to have seen the anime to enjoy the movie?

Attached: __suzumiya_haruhi_suzumiya_haruhi_no_yuuutsu_drawn_by_ivanfx__60de656a73815164498e2752502c006b.jpg (2508x1764, 2.2M)

Cause they watch the chronological version and when watching Season 2 don't rewatch the broadcast version + all of Endless Eight, lessening the impact of the film.

>Do i have to have seen the anime to enjoy the movie?
Yes, and for maximum impact you should see all of Endless Eight.

cute

I wonder if it was too successful. It was really popular and everyone rip and tore tropes, plots, and elements from the show to spawn countless imitators. When newfags finally get around to seeing the show they no doubt have seen a dozen of the copycats and see the original as the rest.

>tfw rl haruhi gf

its relatively choice my friends

Like said, it had a massive influence on LN and anime style. It's also been over a decade since it came out.

explain yourself

She does some reality bending shit, its honestly pretty spooky, I'm sure I'll be called a schizo for this statement though.

Attached: D7H6mL8U8AAuAAI.jpg large.jpg (849x1200, 115K)

It's just a generic school comedy that was shown out of order. It sucked.

See, zoomers retards can't even get the genre straight.

1. It was fucking huge. No matter where on the Internet, you couldn't run from it. If you didn't at least know what Haruhi was at the time, you probably were too dumb to evade your parents' Internet filter.
2. Nobody bothers watching any classics anymore.

Anybody know where I can find the full music collection with all the scans in FLAC?

What “style” do you mean? Directing or framing or what? I watched it when it was released on DVD in the states and never watched it again. I knew of the hype but was disappointed. To me it already seemed like I’d seen it before but in lower production quality. But...maybe I couldn’t appreciate the parts that go into a production beyond character designs and animation or the moe since I am a femanon unaffected by their charms

Girls love Haruhi you roastie.

If they do it’s because of the dance.

I have never met a girl who has haruhi in their top anime. K-on though...and I can understand why.

Nig back in high-school I remember a bunch of them obsessed with Haruhi and not just the dance. K-On not that much.

I want to fug Haruhi tenderly, especially movie Haruhi

Do you know why? I just can’t see it. A couple episodes stand out to me (the online game one, the video one, the last airing order one with the umbrella, baseball, and obviously the concert one) but it’s not particularly funny or engaging so I don’t see the appeal for grils.

>but it’s not particularly funny or engaging so
It's all of those, at least in the first season.
>I don’t see the appeal for grils.
Haruhi is a good role model without being overly idealized, Kyon plays the counterpart really well too. It's just a good and creative coming-of-age story.

>Lucky Star was everywhere but Haruhi seemed to have certain kind of niche.

I don't know. I think Lucky Star still relied a lot on general level of anime "knowledge" or at least recognizing the references. Haruhi reached critical mass way faster because it worked better on its own without any that. Neither was anywhere near wholesome like Azumanga Daioh was, though.

Attached: azumangadaioh.jpg (737x558, 387K)

it's just an older show at this point

Haruhi anime popularized the moe artstyle while its LN popularized internal monologues although it doesn't matter anymore since LNs nowadays are just all shitty isekai

Attached: 344.gif (500x281, 1.85M)

the nagato-chan shit was so fucking bad
the only good thing about it was when haruhi was there

Why do people keep spamming these Haruhi bait threads?

Attached: 1451600162019.jpg (848x480, 55K)

>haruhi
>role model

>good coming-of-age story
That’s k-on.

It's simply not good enough to keep people interested 9 years after the last anime entry.

Maybe if you are completely retarded.

K-on has a plot and emotional pull that men will never understand

Attached: 6121D1C0-18C1-4DFD-B538-9D5145A9EAAF.jpg (1280x1024, 358K)

you're also a man though

Yeah I guess that explains why the only people obsessed with it are miserable 40 yo salarymen in need of their escapism fix.

I’m sad that your high school experience was miserable user-kun. Maybe Haruhi can bully you like a real man to cheer you up.

>projecting this hard because someone called out your escapistic tendencies

I watched it while airing and slowed down the rest of the time I had in high school because I listened to it, and it’s been one of my faves since. Keichads will always be happier than Haruhifags.

Well I guess it's easier to be happy when you are

People new to the medium never bother to watch old shit anymore. I know some zoomer weebs and they watch 5 trillion shows per season but haven't watched anything that came before their time. I guess it was something you could do in the 00s because you basically just had one decade, two at most, of past anime, but now it's almost 4.

But maybe my perception is just way off and people in the past didn't bother to watch old classics either, and I just didn't notice because weebs weren't omnipresent back then. I do remember things like Getterfags seething about TTGLfags not watching any classic mecha.

>one dies happy but dumb
>one dies smart but woke to the ills of the world
I’ll take the bluepill desu, no one in life matters but me in the end anyways

Being ignorant can be nice at first but it'll only get you alienated and lost over time, true enlightenment comes from knowledge and productive activity.

god knows is literally still being performed to this day, recently at the seiyuu houkaku last month as the leading song

Broadcast = great
Chronological = meh

If only this were true, but it isn’t. Ignorance is bliss. I am not politically illiterate nor a Netflix normie retard like my friends so I will never be able to connect deeply with them and enjoy simple things. Like dumb things and have pool of local friends > spend free time drawing or studying nip with no one around to hang with and discuss irl.
My jap friend picked it for his karaoke song. Based

It was popular for no good reason, really.
I can't think of any outstanding qualities the show had, it seemed to be enjoyable to the same ironic retards that collapse over moe characters, silly dance endings, and "show about nothing" plots.

You sound like a social whore, hanging out is alright but alone time tend to be richer overall.

I’ve never seen a franchise as squandered as Haruhi, god knows why they didn’t strike while the iron was hot and churn out as much material as possible like Monogatari. Then there was Endless Eight, sure it was experimental and ballsy but it’s almost as if they deliberately tried to sabotage the franchise.

Different strokes, being solitary and smart has only made me ronery

God Knows redefined anisong genre

Attached: haruhi trap.jpg (300x396, 124K)

Weird I watched it for the first time not so long ago and I thought it was fantastic. Yea its kinda self aware and tropey but between the voice acting, the main characters and the art direction I thought the show was supremely done.

Nah i think your right to an extent. When you had to either buy stuff or download it you were confined by money or just time so you would watch highly rated shows that were't necessarily new. Now I can download an entire show in half and hour and delete it. No loss to me and there's more anime being produced that I could ever consume.

Broadcast. S1 was better. Disappearence reemed the awful S2’s Endless Eight.

So so far it’s okay. S3 can only get better, if they adapt the LNs as faithfully as they have until now.

Be a bit weird to start watching anime with Haruhi as you wouldn't get a lot of the tropes. Also Zoomers wouldn't have the attention span.

Cake Haruhi when?

It's a good show but people hype it up to be godly when it's just above average. My biggest grip is that it popularized adapting shitty, uninteresting LNs.

I wouldn't say it's forgotten, Haruhi is just no longer one of the popular entry anime that it used to be. It's one of the anime that somebody new to anime will end up being aware about once they get into anime culture besides the big entry level shows.

What made the show great other than the characters was the premise, for me at least. I wanted to see what would happen when Haruhi finds out what she really is and what subconscious powers she possesses. I wanted to see a conclusion and Kyon finally taming her. It just never got to that last level, that peeking behind the curtain stadium. Just a million indirect hints through the SOS brigade's other members.

Movie's awesome, you shoukd give it a go
