>what happens when your inspiring idea fails to inspire though?
Then there's new ideas to be had. This one did quite well. It had a good run.

>was it really necessary to namedrop that guy for a year solid?
In hindsight, no. But he was around for at leat half that time. Keeping it anchored was just common courtesy. It didn't hurt anyone. It didn't really bother anyone, despite some people getting quite agitated. That's Yea Forums.
It still inspired people. Which is a feat for an anchored request. So I'm satisfied.
If I was desperate about getting it done I could just open it up again, but I think moving on to new ideas is a better option.

Constantly seeing it at the top of every one of these threads, I almost drew it for him out of pity, but then I realized it had been picked up by someone else.

Same for that other dude who wanted the cute office ladies gagged (pic related). I see that request hasn't been posted at all in the last few threads since I've been back. He was prolly no less dedicated than . Which makes me wonder if he: a) had it delivered while I was away, or b) simply gave up on it after so long, or c) met an untimely and unfortunate demise. If the latter, I hope he had received Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior beforehand. Hell sucks.
