Worst Arcs Ever

What chapters were a chore?
Which really slowed the story down?
What do you have a special hatred for?

For me, it's the Chimera Ant Arc of HxH, Cell Saga of Dragon Ball, and fuck Stone Ocean from Jojo.

Here have a poll

Kazekage rescue and tenchi bridge from narutrash

Everything from MHA.

I remember when I was a kid I hated the weird 'Olympian' cyborgs in Cyborg 009 and that was when I stopped watching it.

I also really hated Baby in Dragon Ball GT.

Many Naruto arcs were disastrous

Current Berserk arc but it still has a chance for redemption

The Part 4 arc in Jojo because it had so much filler that broke tension and added very little

>The Part 4 arc in Jojo because it had so much filler that broke tension and added very little

To each their own but I think that is why a lot of people like it. It has the serious undertone of the serial killer but since they can't actively search for him they go on about their normal lives.

Dressrosa and WCI. I like One piece but these arcs burned me out. Usually I would've taken a small break or dropped a series, but right when I was about to do this with One piece, something actually interesting happened.

AoT's political arc was hellish to read monthly

Also I have a special hatred for Gantz Final Arc. I could deal and move on with a bunch of shitty final arc but this one had not one positive thing about it.

I dropped SnK during Uprising. I know it got better but I have no motivation to follow it monthly anymore, I’ll pick it up again for a binge when it’s over.

>hellish to read monthly
Agreed especially if you have short memory like myself, I can barely keep on track what was going on with the recent chapter, but now re-reading that arc in less than a day it becomes clear as water and doesn't feel necessary long or slow.

Berserk boat arc for manga
Sasuke Retrieval arc for anime

The Black Swordsman Arc of Berserk shouldn't have started the manga, but the Golden Age instead. The placement makes it go from okay to shit tier.

Fishman Island was terrible both as a read during, and after. Dressrosa wasn't quite as bad read straight through afterward but still was a drag.

Everything starting at Sasugay retrieval arc

Farm Namek in Vinland Saga

Current arc in Black Clover

Rape Namek/End of Wolfguy

Final Eyeshield 21 arc

user, Berserk was on that boat longer then Naruto was even a thing.
I wish I was kidding.

shit taste

this is the most WRONG opinion i've ever seen, literally, are you mentally retarded? but for real

tf? Chimera Ant Arc is one of the greatest arcs ever. You a faggot or something?

Didn't find the chimera ants interesting at all.

I wanted Leorio and Kurapika instead I got Colt and Rommet.

This. Shoving edgeGuts at us with no context just wasn't good.
Probably what the editors wanted though.

>Chimera Ant Arc
Second worst. Worst has got to be Greed Island, which IMO was a poor attempt on an isekai-style manga.

Dressrosa from One Piece felt very messy. Not bad, but easily the least good arc. Zou, WCI, and now Wano really picked things up though

Greed Island is the worst HxH arc

It tries to establish something but just can not so it ditches it and just use it vaguely. And no, that's not deconstruction, that's just a failure.

>What chapters were a chore?
most of mermaid island

>Which really slowed the story down?
all of mermaid island

>What do you have a special hatred for?
mermaid island arc

I have hated 'isekai' nearly univerally since that fucking bizarre 'sick kid simualtion video game' during the middle of the battle city arc in Yugi Oh

Basic DB Fans:
>>Cell is best arc, trash on Buu arc
Hardcore DB Fans:
>>Cell sucks/was overhyped, finds many things to appreciate about the Buu arc

Merman Island was a goddamn mess in every fashion. It's about when One Piece's art got so muddled it was hard to understand what the fuck was going on half the time.

This arc has gotten a small bit of praise recently, but holy shit I still think it was a terrible way to end the series

what else could they have doen?

I liked it much more upon re-read, but week to week I did not like it.

Maybe don't give us god damn tonal whiplash. This episode felt like it came out of a god damn cartoon.

the goku black arc are really good up until the asspull then immediately became shit tier

Magi's Alma Toran arc.

Only popular because it was trendy among internet degenerates

It actually flop not even crack 1million per vol sales

Oh Man. This series was so good up until this god dang season.

The introductory arc of World Trigger was a complete snoozefest and to this day I'm still shocked that it wasn't axed before Chapter 20 and that it's currently my favorite shonen manga.
Right now I really hate the current Shokugeki no Soma arc for how shitty it is compared to the first half of the manga. I can't begin to imagine what Tsukuda was thinking when he introduced overpowered magic tools and mediocre soap opera drama into his series.

Tsugumomo's isekai arc.

Stop reading shonenshit

All of Naruto. It's only good if you're a little kid and it's your first anime

Shonentier

>Time Gnomes will never, ever be finished

>>One Piece not top tier
Not accurate

I don't have any complaints about any of the seinen I'm currently reading unless you count the few isekai that are on the list.

Shit taste in a weird way. You like absolute garbage manga but dislike manga that are the exact same with different characters.

>HxH
>being at the top

You really need some sort of warped hipster outlook to put FUCKING SAINT SEIYA above anything on shit tier.

Chimera Ant and Stone Ocean are great, OP is a fucking child.

Actual bad shonen arcs:
Fishman Island
Yakuza shit in BNHA (BNHA is pretty bad in general)
War arc in Naruto
Buu
Final arc of Golden Wind (Good part otherwise)

>Yakuza shit in BNHA
You wish retard

>getting mad at someone for liking different stuff

You're the 'fucking child' here you dense cunt.

I bet you're the type to make different accounts to spam good reviews. Scum.

Shonen is for children, silly.

Okay the arc dragged a bit and then went full mach 5 after meruem got beaten in go 400 times. Also I am 100% sure the dark continent arc is absolute shite ATM.

>There are 2 other people who knew Unforgotten Realms
I make dumb references to it from time to time and nobody ever fucking catches it.
God damn "I cast flare!" doesn't even get responses.

I just don’t really find Meruem that compelling a character.
>humans are bad because I’m so great
>a human that is pretty good
>I guess humans are ok
Like wow, really complex

>but muh complarisons to Gon
I don’t really find Gon’s sperging our all that believable either. I understand the pain of loss, but to me it felt kind of forced

Those arcs at least read better when they're finished. Though Dressrosa is kind of a mess towards the end. My problem personally is re-reading East Blue. It's kind of a chore to re-read the pacing is really wonky, the arcs all have the same structure, and there's not enough to break up the recruitment process.

>Sasuke Retrieval arc for anime
It's like fucking torture. So many recaps, so many cutaways, and the fact that Naruto's team were all rejects is really hammered in during the anime and it's obnoxious. Even as a little Narutard kid it was hard to watch.

The boat was 8 and a half years, user. That's less than Naruto's publication time.

>Chimera Ant Arc of HxH, Cell Saga of Dragon Ball, and fuck Stone Ocean from Jojo.
>Look at me, I am an obvious troll or maybe I'm just a utter drooling idiot.

chibiusa ruined Sailor Moon

I never had a problem with East Blue, always enjoyed it, so the pacing never really bothered me.

Wrong, she is best girl and had the best arcs.

Everything after "Suicide Mission in the North" arc for Claymore. It started off well both in manga and anime and then went to shit especially in that arc and the twist being lol you're on island and outside world is at war with dragonics and Organization created parasite to make humans into Yoma with super technology, but somehow everyone on the island that is the known world in claymore, lives like its the middle ages and to them yoma are demons. .

What a shitshow of an ending. I loved it at the beginning for being akin to a female berserk but it dropped in quality exponentially after that shit arc in the north. Most contrived "twist" ever.

Meruem is overrated as fuck, but Shiapouf is an SSS tier antagonist for a shonen

Hardcore Dragon ball fans think GT and Super are good. So that tells all you need to know about their intelligence levels. The Basic-level fans are right.

>Black Clover that high
>Naruto below Boruto and Fairy Tail
>MHA unironically last

cmon now

>Final arc of Golden Wind
How do you like "nuke the final boss" but not "race against the boss to get ultimate power instead of a standard fistfight"?

who is garlic jr again? im about to vote him just becuase i dont remember him

Image is right about MHA being shit and Yu Yu Hakusho being Chad tier. One piece should definitely be lower.

Had his own filler arc after saiyan saga as well as his own movie, Dead Zone.

The vampire. OK filler arc, but not as bad as Cell saga shit show.

Rurikar was one of the best things on YouTube when the site was still new, but his stuff dropped off pretty hard after I stopped paying attention to him
his WoW videos are still machinimakino though

being honest as a kid i dint like the first half of the sayain saga, its gets good when vegeta get to shine, but the rest of it really never interested me

i mean goku's "brother?" was it? he was booooring, and the guy that came whit vegeta was entertaiment but i did think he has a pointless dead, making all but the vegeta vs goku fight ultimatly a waste of time

>The vampire. OK filler arc, but not as bad as Cell saga shit show.
>Actually believing inane filler is better than the best arc of the series.
You are retarded, aren't you?

but vegeta was really good, so its still a good arc

One Piece, Foxxy Pirates

Are you on drugs because I don't even think an ESL could botch a sentence like this.

I wasn't aware of the concept of filler when I watched the entire soul puppet arc of Bleach. It killed most of my interest in the series.

Did you watch the anime or read the manga?

>Let me introduce a character from a previous part at the last minute
>Alright, this character has undergone major offscreen mental and physical changes and no longer acts anything like he used to, people will love that
>I'll introduce a powerup at the last minute which hands whoever gets it victory
>The final battle will be everyone versus this characters rogue stand which was a simple punchghost and is now a soul-stealing soul-switching soul-powering up monster which changes your body and controls your stand if it attacks you and will gradually start warping you into demons from another dimension which I'd never foreshadowed or mentioned before and never will again and the only way you can learn how to stop it is by noticing that its shadow changes direction depending on how you look at it which I did not illustrate beforehand and this will reveal that the stands weakness is the shadow cast by the light of your soul and the only way you can destroy it is to physically destroy the manifestation of your souls light which is a little lantern which hangs behind your head which again, I had not foreshadowed or mentioned before and never will again
>Oh yeah and the main villain doesn't even get a final battle
>The MC has hardly anything to do with this btw the supporting character who I and the readers like better will literally hand him the win-condition powerup before dying
It was an absolutely convoluted, asspully, anticlimactic fucking mess of a finale in a series which is full of great ones. Giorno did not stand out. Diavolo did not stand out. Trish did not stand out. Mista did not stand out. The ONLY character who looked in any way good was Buccellati and that was in spite of the ridiculous SCR shit, not because of it.

Good, because that arc was better than everything that comes after Soul Society in the manga anyways.

Bullshit
True DB fans know everything after Freeza was trash.

Those are not hardcore fans, those are degenerate mexicans.

Greed Island in HxH, felt like a weak link to me
Mermaid island was just a mess, but OP is doing pretty well at the moment
The provisional license exam in MHA was garbage, but that's really the only arc I disagree with in that series. It's fun to trash on the Yakuza arc and the recent Joint Training arc, but in hindsight their both average and not bad. Their only real sin is going for as long as they do

His saga is easily better than Android/Cell
Cell saga ruined Dragon Ball

Shut up toonami kiddie piece of shit.
Cell Saga was trash.

First 2 seasons were the fucking definition of Kino. I quoted it all the time in school.

IMO the entire Naruto manga is consistently good until the final arc. I feel it's very obvious why it doesn't work, reviving a bunch of dead characters, good and bad. It's like death loses it's impact, retroactively ruining emotional moments such as Asuma and Jiraiya's deaths.

As for Hunter X Hunter, I really hate Greed Island. I can't stand Isekais though, so that's probably a matter of taste.

Imagine if he kickstarted another season of unforgotten realms instead of that failed game?

Gon doing whatever he did did not just feel forced. It felt fucking retarded. There is a difference between deconstructing shounen and destroying your manga. Why would pitou kill Kite without fear, yet fear gon just threatning him? Why would Gon even need to use all his power to beat pitou? He could have done litterally anything else. Team up with killua. It makes little to no sense in the terms of what had precceded and came after the arc. It just feels so forced that gon lost all his power. It fucking hurts. I am still mad Togashi. I will always be mad togashi.

Eh, I guess I just like the more "bizarre" aspects of the Jojos' adventures. If you criticize Araki's writing on that level, it doesn't take long to realize he just sucks at coherent thought and forgets things all the time, and so on. Better to have a preexisting character than to have a secret Passione member who has the Requiem Arrow. Making Pol do it is thus less asspull-y than it -could- be.

The real issue to me is that Pucci in SO has CDs instead of Arrows, so the whole thing with Requiem Stands is retroactively more meaningless because they'll never be remotely touched on again. I guess Rock Humans are slightly comparable to the aliens?

> I just like the more "bizarre" aspects of the Jojos' adventures. If you criticize Araki's writing on that level...
I like you, and I like that you understand JoJo

JoJo is like poutine.
If you analyze it you'll find that it's messy and inconsistent, and made with very few ingredients. But if you just fucking eat it, it tastes delicious

Araki's writing isn't amazing but it's fun and it's mostly coherent. Characters get time to shine, there are twists in fights which make you feel rewarded. 'xD Araki forgot!!!!' is a meme spouted by redditors and idiots.

The finale of JJBA part 5 is not like this. Araki literally complained about feeling stifled and unmotivated while writing part 5 and the numerous points he touched on which he never did anything with again - such as Requiem stands - indicate he considered them to be a mistake. Which is fair - the series overall is about trickery and strategy winning, NOT a magic powerup winning. The stands closest in power and scale to Requiems since then have been Made In Heaven, D4C Love Train, and Tusk Act 4 - and all of them required far more work to obtain than stabbing yourself with the arrow.

Rock Humans aren't related to aliens at all, there is a diagram which shows that they are descended from the same evolutionary tree as humans. If anything they're a reference to the Pillar Men of part 2.

No, TRUE DRAGON BALL fans after PICCOLO was trash.

>seething contrarian who can't admit his stupidly and shit taste.

Want to know how I know you're Canadian?

because the fact that he mentioned poutine makes it really fucking obvious?

That and the fact his post was really obnoxious and stupid while still being friendly

Well Uprising arc ended like 4 years ago if im not wrong, now there are Rts arc and marley arc (plus the actual arc, which is also the final). I suggest you to read until the end of Marley arc at chapter 109.

>the asspull
that vague
Black Asspull is fun
only after Trunk asspull, its gone shit, but its already reach end of arc

It states Rock Humans are the result of convergent evolution, not that they were related to humans: the branch they were drawn on was further away from the other hominids and it’s been revealed since that they’re silicon organisms. They are parasites though, so they might have human DNA from their ancestors infecting or breeding with humans.
