It's because any sort of serious moments or tones are ruined by the fact that the entire cast has a collective IQ of 70 while they run around yelling about wanting to be friends with the villain.
The story is not compelling at all because the series needs to constantly beat you over the head with the fact that these are cute girls who just want to do cute things. The fact that you retards don't understand this just makes it obvious that you're mentally on the same level as the 9 year olds this stuff is marketed towards.
