Black Clover oddly enough feels like it's wrapping up more than Chainsawman. Basically in comparison to bleach or that one short lived manga about a guy with a dragon implant in his back or whatever, there's a distinct pacing to Axe Rushes, so that last chapter would have skipped over Denji cockblocking himself in a few panels, and by page 3 of the chapter Makima would have been killed and we'd have seen people's reactions and the chapter ending on the start of the finale's rising action.

What we're looking at with Makima's death is an Inciting Incident, something that starts a story rather than something that happens near the end of one. It's the opposite of an axe rush, probably started right after chopping season ended because it has been given more time to build up to something.
