Original focus of the manga was an awkward girl struggling to not implode on a daily basis while also pursuing her goals. The key word being pursuing. In the early chapters Tomoko never accomplishes what she set out to do. She always got something at the end, but it was modest; a nice field trip with classmates, being friend-enemies with a middle school buddy, watching two people fuck from a rooftop, brief moments of acknowledgement by your classmates, that sort of down to earth stuff. She had to work for those iotas of happiness, so they were comfortable and optimistic, but also painfully realistic. Because of that there was a lot less yuri shitposting; the manga was too down to earth for that sort of thing.
Now all of the sudden she has a harem of girls who appear to have unconditional positive regard for her. She doesn't have to work to maintain friendships anymore. People just seem to gravitate towards her. There's nothing left for her to do but fuck one of them.
