GATE allows free teravel between worlds. If you transport everyone from Earth into another world, you quickly have massive starvation among other problems. Transporting the entire planet into the other world does even worse things. If Earth is just placed in a similar orbit after being transported, there are no significant immediate changes, although improving space travel becomes a much higher priority.
