Though if I may suggest, for one to connect the ancient tribes Canaan and BC lore try not to think of things through the modern "Khazar Jews vs Christian Europeans", but in a more historical sense of Abrahamic religious progression.

There are clear influences from this period, as well as others, but seeing things with a contemporary point of view will only sully the adventure Tabata is trying to give us and I don't believe he is trying to go that deep with ancient hermicitism.

It's just a fun story about magic that happens to incorporate some influences from Europe, Japan, and the ancient Levant.

What the fuck is the actual point of this character? The only good part about him is that he's not a fucking edgelord, but that probably would have been a better choice since he has no personality the speak of. No interesting lines of dialogue, no interesting development, and no interesting goals or motivation. The only "development" he has is just constant powerups out the ass. Everytime he appears on screen after disappearing for 50 fucking chapters he has a new power putting him at or above Asta's level, with no effort required because he's canonically the chosen one. Oh yeah, and almost everything he says revolves around Asta. Every time he appears after his 50 chapter naps he always, without fail, says something about surpassing Asta or becoming the Wizard King instead of him. Hell, he only wants to be the Wizard King BECAUSE of Asta's influence, and Asta is the only one with an interesting motivation as to why he wants that. He's even worse than that featless jobber Leopold, because at least Leopold has a personality. He is easily the worst rival I've seen in a shounen and makes garbage like Bakugo look good in comparison.

My issue with Black Clover has everything to do with the characters. Or lack of characters, I should say. See, Black Clover only has 3.5 characters at anyone time: Asta, Yuno, Noelle, and whoever the focus of the current Arc is. I say that because each Arc tends to delve more into who a member of the Black Bulls is as a person, expanding their character beyond the one-dimensional stereotype they are.

Then it reverts this development of a character back to the way they were originally, once the story arc is over.

Which is a big problem for me. Especially since Black Clover forces that stereotype of a character into your home into your face, and down your throat. It just won't let a character be a character, it has to constantly reinforce whatever defining personality quirk they have, and let nothing else occur.

That's a very bold claim. Keep in mind that Wevil's actions basically created the entire setting. Without him there would not have been a demon god so Lumiere would not have become the first magic emperor, so Asta would not have a goal. Without him the royals would not have obtained the elves' magic, so the whole class struggle in Clover may never have happened. Without him the elves would not have reincarnated so most of the events of the series would not have taken place. Without him fucking over Licht it's possible that Yuno and Asta never would have met or that Asta wouldn't have gotten a grimoire at all. Amvil is certainly going to be important but whatever he does is likely not going to have as big of an impact as Wevil's actions. If not for the fact that there's still 3 more kingdoms to explore Wevil would be final boss material simply due to the sheer impact of his actions.

That's mostly because you're reading a battle shounen. These types of series are aimed at kids and young teens so the MCs tend to almost always be the kind of people the authors and publishers think kids want to self-insert into. They're seemingly held back by something and looked down upon but actually have absurd potential just waiting to be unleashed, they are of flawless moral character and are always fair and just without ever succumbing to any kind of vices, they easily befriend the people around them and impress their superiors and attract girls into their harem, they can solve complicated situations just by confidently stating their views, etc. That applies to almost all battle shounen MCs although some are more susceptible to it than others. If you want more realistic and nuanced characters you need to read more adult oriented series.

Why would he become a devil if he was the one who created them? As in what would be the reason for that and also how would that serve the narrative and add to the story? I think it makes much more sense to separate the devils from whatever came before rather than to clump them all together.
