I don't think it has flopped much. It's more like she's steadily improving after each fuckup. She was far less aggressive in Chapter 143 after fucking up in 142, sought advice the chapter after and almost got her way in 145. Now that the situation got a lot more serious she isn't fucking around anymore.

Not that user, but the pacing remains incredibly slow. I get that they can't solve their problems overnight, but instead of a nice progression of scenes we get this sluggish grind. This chapter is particularly aggravating because it's 90% Fujiwara clan jokes which I personally think are all horribly unfunny. Maybe it's a culture thing but I find the Jap Christmas/New Year jokes unrelatable and the whole gift exchanging scene dragged on way too long to get to any good punchline.
It's even worse we were teased the Tsubame underage speakeasy party which to me is much more open to shenanigans than the /tg/ club special ed party, if Aka really wants to go the humor route instead of condensing the DRAMA and CHARACTER PROGRESSION.

It was really weird. I like them well enough. My only dislike of Tsubasa and Kashiwagi comes from how smug they always seem to be about their relationship. It always looked like they were begging to be knocked down a peg and the pregnancy arc might be just that.

I also agree that the pacing isn't great but not for those reasons, Aka like it or not loves taking the time to build up events but with this arc a lot of the beginning was meant to be the low point and I found it unnecessary to lean in so hard with that, it made everyone annoyed and wanted it to be over as soon as it started. With 144 we start getting progress towards the resolution even if it isn't resolved and those chapters by themselves are still entertaining for me enough to say I'm enjoying the arc as a whole now.

I can't really comment on the party stuff because whether you found it funny or not is subjective, I thought it was the funniest one in a while and I'm glad it didn't get brushed over, but eh. I think it's pretty obvious that the next two chapters will be focused on tying up this arc and Tsubame's stuff will be the introduction for the next volume so you won't have to wait long for that.

It is funny, don't get me wrong. Just that it's funny in that it's done in such a way that it makes you(well, it did for me) want to see them knocked down.
Like in other series the smug idiot(e.g. Aqua from Konosuba or Tamaki from Ouran) gets bullied.

There's a very short "Sherlock Holmes" parody written by Arthur Conan Doyle himself ("How Watson Learned the Trick.") In it, Dr. Watson tries to do what Holmes does by picking up clues and putting them together into a picture of what's going on in Holmes' life. He comes up with a perfectly-valid theory, then Holmes reveals that every one of the clues had another explanation.

I think that trick is one thing that Doyle didn't like about his Sherlock Holmes stories: sure, Holmes could come up with an answer, but it's by authorial fiat that that, out of the innumerable possible explanations that can't ever all be quashed, turns out to be the right one.

So it is with stories in general. Foreshadowing is as underdetermined as the clues Watson gathered; there are infinitely many ways the story COULD go that could be pointed to as being validly set up. Having a foundation earlier in the story is a necessary but not sufficient condition for a development to be appropriate and satisfying. For an example of something that could be said to be foreshadowed but would be a hard swerve, consider if Kaguya actually turned out to be secretly a serial killer. It turns out that what Ishigami thought of her at first wasn't just silly paranoia after all, see!

I don't think what's happened in this arc is remotely as bad as that would be, but I don't think it was the only possible way things could have gone. Maybe, for example, Kaguya could have naturally grown out of her iciness by just becoming a warmer person over the course of the story already. Maybe Shirogane's issues were, actually, largely just jokes. Maybe Ice Kaguya didn't have to be so indirect. Maybe things could have gone smoothly, but they didn't, and now I'm left wondering what else isn't safe to assume is settled, either.

She already did, the whole point is that she has self doubt, and doesn't think she genuinely cares due to her upbringing, and assumes she's incapable of compassion or empathy, but she's long past that.

They are used for jokes, but at the same time you could see they take a toll on him quite badly, the best examples being the chapters where he goes overboard, like the one where he goes a few days without sleep just to get a bi old glare to please Kaguya, and gets fatigued as hell.

Plus, that's some big talk when all you could have said is "foreshadowing can be left open to interpretation, and therefore it's not set in stone so its bad, i want it spelled out", when the fucking manga doesn't just allude or foreshadow stuff, but in fact makes it quite clear when there's something more to it, paneling, character reactions, and shit like that are important, when Hayasaka talks about masks and how nobody would love someone without putting up a front and goes into detail about it for example, you can see Prez react with shock, and then kinda look down as if he's reflecting on himself in the process, because he understands what it's like to feel that way, since he does it too. Hell, most of it is spelled out for you, like in the balloon chapter, or the chapter where he asks Miko if she thinks he's suitable as a man.

Understanding that there's an underlying issue with them doesn't mean I know when it's going to pop up. For example, i thought they would start dating before their issues became fully open and shown as a problem, but instead Kaguya did an opsie, and Shirogane thought he didn't do enough, and it spiraled out of control.
Your argument was about the allusion not being clear enough, and that is clearly not fucking true, but even with understanding, it's not like you can see how these issues will be used story wise, but you can know they will become a focus later.

For example, Miko needs to learn to be more lax, and Ishigami needs to learn to not be as lax, we'll get some chapters focusing on that more for sure, and Miko especially needs to stop idealizing romantic partners, since they're fantasy land tier.

But if you want to know what's going to happen next, Kaguya will tell President she's fine with him and his faults, and that he doesn't need to cover them up with her, Prez is probably gonna try and say that he can't, because she's not someone who deserves something below average, or garbage, and she'll either reveal that she isn't sure about herself either, or that she has her own faults, but and she's also scared that he would see her badly due to them. They'll work things out, and probably start dating, unless their self doubt is so strong, they still can't patch it up, but I kinda doubt it.
It won't fix everything, but they can be more open about their concerns and issues, and help each other grow further as people.

Of course perfect deterministic clarity isn't what I want; it (probably) isn't what anybody wants. Challenging yourself to guess which way's right in the murky waters of possibilities is much of the fun of following stories; it's why people care about spoilers. I just think that something leaving a bad taste in one's mouth (like Ice Kaguya's behavior did to me) doesn't mean that there's something mechanically wrong with the story, and conversely that a story being solidly structured doesn't mean one has to like its shape.

Personally, I felt betrayed when Ice Kaguya went and did things in 142 that she seemed to dismiss in 141. (Saying the kiss meant nothing was an option that made her say "this conversation is ridiculous," for one.) But there were technically no explicit promises made that were broken there, just, say, strongly-implied ones. So now I don't trust strong-implications in this story as much as I used to, and so don't find the series as comfortable to read. But that's not a foul on Aka's part, just a mistake on mine (but not one that was fun to get corrected, that's for sure.)

If I was President and wanted to save money at a foreign college for astronomy, I would chose University of Hawaii. Sure its University of Hawaii but Hawaii has a pretty decent Japanese population and Japanese do like Hawaii as a travel destination compared to other American states. In real life, Tokyo University is the best for astronomy majors in Japan and involved in international astronomy experiments.

I bet Japanese people who barely know any American colleges' names aside from Harvard would even know about Stanford. It's just not in the popular culture for Asia.

My observational astronomy and astrophysics professor did NOT have an astronomy degree. His B.S. and PhD were in Physics but with a focus on astronomical research. You don't need an astronomy degree to be an astronomer or astrophysicist, you can just get a Physics degree. What matters is the PhD anyways, he's not going to get his PhD without getting a B.S. first, so he can just get his B.S. in Physics and go into astronomy for grad school.

See I myself went down this route, did undergrad research with my astronomy professor and now go to grad school for Astronomy PhD but with Physics B.S.

Yeah but Shirogane is the type of guy who could get approval to graduate with a bachelors and masters degree at the same time which is an option for excellent students.

If he goes to a college that offers astronomy degrees, he would be able to successfully petition to be allowed to get a bachelor and master's degree, simultaneously.

It's really hard to do but not impossible if you can handle the grades and workload.

I'm just saying it feels not typical for Shirogane to not always choose the money saving, penny pinching route for his college degrees.

The schools know that they don't know everything, and they want their students to know that too, so the colleges have them go to another university to get their doctorate. If Shirogane were to go to a top astronomy school for undergrad, he'd be locking himself out of their astronomy PhD program.
