When will you grow out of anime?

Hopefully soon. I spend all my free time watching and discussing anime when I should focus on living.

Watched it back in high school (back when Bleach ended the SS arc) and did grow out of it, mainly because Bleach and Naruto filler killed my interest, partly because being an unkissable virgin was too painful since everything I watched/read had some sort of fulfilling relationship in it.

I actually dropped it altogether for a decade and some change when I ended up watching SnK on Netflix out of chance. It’s been a few months and I’ve spent literally everyday binging anime and blasting through manga. I’m a broken man once again, any dreams of normality have been obliterated.

I thought I did but watching some older shows made me rethink my enjoyment of the medium. Seasonal stuff I find less and less exciting while older series tgat are regarded as good or great always hype me up and entertain me and make love anime again.
I will probably stop at some point, but why should I when there so much shit I haven't watched yet.
Then there is manga and oh boi that never ends, I'm sure.

Except it isn't. Think of it in a closed environment. If someone likes for example video games and is by themselves in a room with no outside influence. Any changes to their liking of video games will come purely from that individual's decision. When that will be? Only that individual can decide, if ever. If you were to observe that person, it's impossible to determine at what point his interests may change. Claiming "oh yeah this guy will totally change his mind on this exact date because he turns X years old at that time" is retarded. Now if you were to introduce an outside force, for example somebody else who has different interests or different thoughts on video games to that person, maybe their thoughts and opinions will change. But that's no longer the individual's decision. He has an outside factor that he is now thinking about and has to choose how to adapt to interact with said factor. That's a change in environment and what you would call "growing up."

Being exposed to new things and assimilating those experiences changes the way you perceive the novelty of entertainment and the world in general, and even just your brain's continual processing of things you've already experienced can have the same kind of effect. If your tastes and opinions don't change over time, you're learning absolutely nothing from the media you consume, which is really not possible unless your brain is completely fucked.

It's something that happens naturally for most people regardless of social exposure as they get older. As you grow up and gain a better understanding of the world and people, it's normal to start seeking out entertainment that benefits from that sort of understanding.

I like the process of watching anime itself, so likely never. Stories can get boring as you grow older, artsy shit loses its appeal, character interactions become inconsequential, favorite seiyuus and animators/directors get old and die or alternatively get pozzed, but thankfully none of it is the ultimate reason why I watch anime. Although with the advent of 3d shit anime will quickly become a distortion of its original self, and the process of watching it will no longer be the same, so there's that. I can only hope a significant amount of traditionally animated works is still produced even then, but I guess rather than me growing out of anime, anime will eventually grow out of me.

Most people have been gradually losing interest and are mostly uninterested by the time they reach those cutoff ages, which is why they are what they are.

You're right that it's silly to completely swear off of it, though, because while most anime is clearly for kids and teenagers, there's always going to be the odd show that's plenty enjoyable for adults too.

I branched out and mostly read manga, VNs, LNs and even WNs. The only time I watch anime is if one of my favorites series is getting an adaption or to check out if the source is worth reading if it’s somehing I haven’t read yet.
As for ‘growing out’ I think normalfags who were never into otaku media in the first place are more prone to do that. They liked a few ‘serious’ shows that scratch their elitism or they liked a certain shounen etc etc and once that’s over their interest wanes. For me though this is a hobby just like video games or movies and so on. Doubt I will grow out of otaku medium any time soon.

I hazard to guess that anime is going to continue to cater to my tastes and only get better as real jobs are automated leaving more and more people to spend time storytelling in various media forms. Not necessarily. $1AUD buys around $0.75USD atm. I went to the US when $1AUD bought $1.25USD.

Capital is not just cash money though... it's knowledge and infrastructure too. And it's only really useful to people when we interact with that and profit cash wise or product wise from it. You need a diverse economy to maintain cash flows from it. You need cash to maintain some product benefit from it. Australia essentially only has a booming mining and service industry. That is not enough to provide work for people uninterested or incapable to work in mining or services alone. That means we're slowly having this manufacturing industry parasite drain our ability to function as an economy.

I spent my teen years living way too fast, addicted to heroin by 15 married at 17 lost my parents by twenty. Then after i divorced my wife went on a fuck spree that left me like a void.
