Why does this get so much praise? Is this something you had to watch at the time to fully appreciate?

What's wrong with it?

I still enjoyed it. It's a story about how a mentally unstable girl, who has gone through an existential crisis, becomes normal once she has a place she can stabilize in or feel important in.
It's also about how two individuals go through crazy things and form a bond of trust.
It's a bit more well thought out than 90% of the stuff that aired this year.

I imagine people at the time hated it thanks to the retarded airing order of episodes

>he fell for the watching all of endless eight meme

Because Kyon and Haruhi are fun characters

Because back then people still had brains

Haruhi was incredibly beloved in it's time.
What current anime could inspire hundreds of people to flash mod the dance from their endings?

>flash mob

Disapearnce is solid gold.
That said you had to experience the suffering beforehand for the greatest dramatic effect.

Why should it not?

The original series is just as good as Disappearance except with a bit less polish. The writing, ideas, and core themes are all the same.

Bud I'm obviously talking about endless eight.

Yuki is cuter without glasses

I am gonna punch you right in your god damn face one day, Kyon.

But it’s true

How did we go from this

to this?

Because it’s good and entertaining

No, I watched it for the first time in recent years and it was great

Series is a 7/10 for me, but the movie is a masterpiece.

this desu this

It's probably much easier for her to code than to interact with machines like a human.

A chronological order of events is not necessary to tell a good story. For example, many agree that the best way to watch Star Wars is 4 > 5 > 2 > 3 > 6. A lot of people loved Haruhi because of the airing order, and still insist today to watch it that way.
And that was just a minor inconvenice anyway for those who didn’t like the airing order, as it’s a minor part of what makes the show great. The ridiculous but oddly mysterious premise, and uncertainly of what will happen next, and the funny interractions between the characters followed by Kyon’s monologues is what makes Haruhi so appealing to many.

basically it's to 10s what Eva was to 00s

an anime that's sparked a lot of other anime banking off it (it's pretty much to blame for all the high school anime and LN adaptions that came after).

>he didn't watch all eight

nah the show was okay, everybody just watches to experience the true kino that was the film

Watch it eight times and you'll like it.
