Honestly hellsing ultimate doesn't have much rewatchability besides some certain scenes just because the animation and artwork. I was a little disappointed with how the whole thing ended. Integra was prolly gonna die within a few decades and then Seras and Alucard are just there with no real ruler or leadership after Integra's gone and it ends with no real imposing threat and it's kind of sad for Seras and Alucard to just live eternally without anything else to really do. Then again you can just treat the whole thing as a movie and that's just how it ends. We need a sequel

Sounds more like Heaven, nothing sad there. Integra named that fat jobber her successor and adopted him as a son, he'll continue the Hellsing business. Since he's a total beta shit gets even better for Alucard since he can basically do as he likes even more so than before. But the organisation itself wasn't really that old and it doesn't even need to exist forever, who the fuck cares, the whole vampire threat was a convenient asspull anyway. The real plot was the backstory of Alucard/Dracula and the general idea of edginess derived from characters with tragic backgrounds.

I was really disappointed when the show got to the time skip instead of just ending at the death of The Major. I just don't understand how Alucard's return is supposed to be a satisfying resolution. Alucard didn't see himself in a great light and even would've liked if Alexander killed him despite his regenerator shit. The Major was built up very well in the series and as far as oral arguments go, Integra failed to best The Major in their confrontation neither in style nor substance. So the ending doesnt feel earned or good for anyone.

Is the original Hellsing even worth watching? I read the director didn't really give a shit and there was only enough material to cover half the manga when it came out so the last half is filler. Is it any good?

It's still artsy and has a unique atmosphere to it. I remember liking the tone the most. It thrives primarily on the tragic tone of the Hellsing manga and ignores the humor, so it's it's more edgy-romantic than edgy-batshit. I'd still give it a shot for fun if I where you.

The Nazis are completely absent besides a small easter egg. The story is a lot slower passed with Seras as a much more seriously taken main character. The visual style is a lot more western. It tries to explore Seras struggling to grasp with her loss of humanity, though ultimately the show fails to find time to really conclude her arc once it starts the non-canon stuff. The non-canon final villain is REALLY lame.
