What do you prefer?
Anime or manga?
What do you prefer?
Manga. Same reason why I generally prefer books and vidiya over video: I can choose my own pacing.
I prefer manga.
Stop making threads you dumb motherfucker. Why aren't you banned?
Manga
I prefer manga cause it's easier than having to read subs all the time
Anime, in most cases
More emotional effect in sad scenes due to OST, same with action scenes, etc. Voice acting also plays a major part in these respective scenes.
Manga. No filler. Or at least less filler. I also hate how shows get released before the manga is done, catch up and then have to just pull an ending out of their ass. The shows that were shows first, are the best ones.
Manga
death is fine too
Anime if the story is focused on action and horror
Manga if is something slower like slice of life, romance and drama
Anime. Less effort.
Why would someone make a meme based off of a manga when they don't even know what order the bubbles go in?
I fucking hate ironic weebs
Manga > Anime adaptation.
Book > Movie adaptation.
Live action adaptations :^)
Super situational, really. For things that are long as hell, manga reads much faster than sitting through 800 episodes of Detective Conan or some shit. But nicely animated adaptations can really set the mood through colors and music--and for certain cases, it's almost necessary; I don't think I'd have enjoyed reading Nodame as much as I enjoyed watching it.
Manga.
Light novels, anime also is decent to watch but manga is a mix of both but often falls short.
The only good manga are ones where they're the source, even then there are so few that can play to the strengths of manga. Anime adaptions are generally good, and even if not can tip you off to a new series to read.
Manga, though I like both.
used to read shit ton of manga now felt really lazy so i'm animeonlyfag
manga, since i read faster than i can watch anime, and its easier to spot shitty manga than anime.
Reading manga makes me somersault
Light novels
New chapter when?
Never, most likely.
it depends.
> well adapted anime>well adapted manga>light novel
> light novel>badly adapted manga based on the light novel>badly adapted anime based on the manga
Manga. I can read manga anywhere.
Anime takes up more time per chapter, and I can only watch it at home.
Manga. You don't have to deal with voices that didn't sound like you imagined in your head, anime adaptations that have shitty quality or miss the charm of the manga's art style (i.e. jitsu wa watashi wa's adaptation), half-assed adaptations clearly made just to promote the source material and make merch, and sometimes anime scenes get drawn out in length to the point of cringiness. I can read a lot faster (without falling into the trap of speedreading) and cover a lot more plot usually in the time it takes to watch an anime episode of the same length.
Manga is usually the source material too; consequently, it contains the most canon material and I don't have to deal with anime filler, anime-original endings, etc. Finally, adaptations tend to compress some longer series, especially seasonal anime, so some small gags or quirks might not be included in an anime adaptation.
On the flip side, it's nice to see things in animation sometimes. Most recently I enjoyed Jashin, Gabriel Dropout, and LWA. Isayama's art in SNK is godawful so the anime was a pleasant reprieve. And of course, anime originals are good to watch as well and sometimes convey things/comedy better than manga can (inferno cop/ninja slayer).
>original anime > manga adaptation
>original movie > movie novelization
The thing that comes first is almost always going to seem better just because thats what's already burned in your mind.
I'd say well adapted anime=well adapted manga otherwise I agree.
Anime because I'm lazy but sometimes I just can't stand bad anime adaptions or cliffhangers so I also read manga. Lately I've been reading a lot of manga actually more than watching anime but I'd still prefer if the manga I like had a good anime adaption too.
Manga only since I downloaded an app on my phone and read in bed for hours before falling asleep. If I like a manga and it gets an adaptation I may watch the anime, but very rarely. Kimetsu no Yaiba is a pretty great adaptation so far and its the only thing I'm watching while im reading several dozen series on a regular basis.
>phone
I used to do the same and I got me retinal detachment, ruined my eyes for life. You should use a tablet with low brightness or an eink tablet.
Manga by far
Thought so, but that still sucks.
Exactly
Manga. It's generally easier to skip the perv old man stuff.
The source material, if its a mango I would read that first before trying the anime, by which I would have no patience to go over it again unless it has a cool fight i want to see animated.
Light Novel
95% manga, unless both the manga and anime are adaptations of an LN in which case it's usually the anime instead
Most manga is garbage except for Berserk and Ressentiment so anime it is.
Too many anime adaptations are terrible, low-budget crap designed to milk superfans.
Too many get screwed by stupid nip studio politics.
Besides which poor quality manga artwork is far less offensive than poor quality animation. If your manga art looks like shit then so long as it's still funny or otherwise entertaining it doesn't really matter. When an anime looks like shit then it kills the enjoyment regardless.
Plus there's more to go wrong in an anime. More aspects of direction which really fuck the quality if even one goes wrong. A terrible soundtrack will just kill your suspension of disbelief, or poor pacing of the source material to fill the episode number you're contracted for, and so on.
Anime can be a better medium obviously, because you can put in fucking sound, but quite a lot of the time it isn't.
