They weren't that far. The problem wasn't that distance but lack of food, which is why Aries comes up with the idea of hoping between planets.

Guess I will be watching this. I just hope there's less CGI in the series then there was in the trailer posted in the OP. You really do have to wonder if the animators don't think that it stands out like a sore thumb.
